Did you miss the fact that Hero of Bretagard gets a +1/+1 counter for every instance of flicker, so if you flicker 5 things at once, she gets 5 counters. She can go from 0 to 100 real bloody fast.
From my experience with this deck, if you have Restoration Angel and Felidar Guardian or Felidar Guardian and Wispweaver Angel, you can create an infinite combo of blinking the two in and out of exile, creating an infinite number of spirit tokens. The combo is hilarious.
Three other cards that are amazing in this deck. First, the enchantment Kindred Discovery. Since you are almost always creating at least one spirit each turn, you get enormous amounts of card draw, including often, on other players turns. Second, and this card has won me so many games because I added it, Lavinia of the Tenth. Flickering her on your turn (every turn if possible) can absolutely shut down your opponents decks completely. No attacks, blocks, or activated abilities on the majority (or all) of their board until your next turn at which point you flicker Lavinia again and shut them down again. Oh, if only she was a spirit. And third, Cathar's Crusade. Again, since you are almost always adding at least one creature per turn, you are almost always buffing up your board to make large creatures. If you really want extra value from this card, also add Herald of Secret Streams to make them all unblockable. This combo together has also been a great win condition for my deck. Of course, Elesh Norn is a beast in this deck powering up your spirit tokens, and sometimes demolishing opponents boards. And finally, some other maybes: -Deadeye Navigator -Peregrine Drake -Grand Arbiter Augustin IV -Intangible Virtue -Suture Priest -Soul Warden -Drogskol Reaver -Coat of Arms -Aether Shockwave (clearing your way to swing in.) -Sephara, Sky's Blade (almost always cheap to cast and protects your spirits) -Divine Visitation -Ephara, God of the Polis And finally, Millicent from the new Spirits commander in Crimson Vow. Good synergy.
When i started thinking about ranar, i remember a one interesting card that works like mirror mockery mentioned in this video - blade of selves, such a fun and interesting card that gives another 2 etb's and exile them at the end of combat.
I played against a ranar the other day, and I was surprised at how quickly he builds a spirit army. And their Ethereal Valkyrie was so sweet, an opponent stole it!
Speaking of exiling, I was playing my Urza deck and I had a Delay and Trickbind in hand. My opponent casted commander and I Delayed it. When the last time counter was removed, it triggered the recasting of commander. I Trickbind the recast. He tried to put it back in the command zone but he was not able because at that time, he chose to actually exile his commander few turns back and it wasn’t changing zones at the moment. My opponent scooped.
Winds of abandon would only get you one spirit token each time you cast it because Ranar’s triggered ability triggers only once for each time you exile something, no matter how many objects were exiled at the same time. The way you say "We're gonna be creating spirit tokens like crazy" makes it seem like you missed that part
Great deck tech and was very helpful to piece together my version of ranar. A card I thought of and would like to hear from you of your opinion. What about Geist of saint tract and rattlechains?
Really great deck tech! I had thought about building him, but know I'm convinced. Is there a reason why you didn't include Brago, King Eternal? Seems like he'd be a key card in this deck.
I do, FWIW. It's drawn me the counterspell I needed to stop craterhoof. I did have saltskitter on the battlefield I think, but she's solid without it as long as you have instant speed interaction.
I just want to say, that while most of these deck upgrades are pretty reasonable, you also mentioned trying to keep it a bit more casual, and then you threw out City of Shadows which is like $100 lol
Check out my upgrade video for this deck: ruclips.net/video/c4aIDZ2imZU/видео.html

Suspend didn't even cross my mind...thanks man!
Inquisitive Puppet is a fun include! I think Saltskitter is excellent here.

Great video, I like the detailed breakdown of your strategy with this deck.
much appreciated.
I appreciate your respect for the "casual" deck building
Aweome! I've been wanting to build a Ranar deck, and this is my new list I'll build from. Thanks!
I played against a ranar the other day, and I was surprised at how quickly he builds a spirit army. And their Ethereal Valkyrie was so sweet, an opponent stole it!
I had an Ephara deck so I'm already acquainted with Saltskitter :)
The last part of the video with secret deck techs is amazing

Cloudshift is a solid budget cheap flicker and Cathars Crusade could be really good for token buffs
Good video man, thanks.
Urza's Ruinous Blast sounds great for this
City of Shadows is the real spice - I thank you but my wallet does not.
Galepowder mage’s art is amazing.
THANK YOU! this guide is amazing

Very helpful thank you
I love how Godsend doesn't target any creature. So you can exile a creature with shroud or protection from white.
I’m doing spirits. Forbidding Spirit is good too
where do i find a galepowder mage with that art?
what artwork is that galepowder mage? I couldnt find it anywhere besides a different version.
sorry, i use my proxies in videos sometimes. i think all the artwork i use is on my imgur. igniteaxiom.imgur.com/all
Great deck tech and was very helpful to piece together my version of ranar. A card I thought of and would like to hear from you of your opinion. What about Geist of saint tract and rattlechains?
I have put SEPHARA SKY'S BLADE cuz i can cheeze it un and everyhing jas Flying anyway
Really great deck tech! I had thought about building him, but know I'm convinced.

Nice list! I put in Geist of Saint traft instead of the puppet :)
Do you run Ephera in the deck?
I do, FWIW. It's drawn me the counterspell I needed to stop craterhoof. I did have saltskitter on the battlefield I think, but she's solid without it as long as you have instant speed interaction.
Do you guys have a decklist?
my bad forgot to post it for that one. i'll add it now.
I just want to say, that while most of these deck upgrades are pretty reasonable, you also mentioned trying to keep it a bit more casual, and then you threw out City of Shadows which is like $100 lol
yeah i had no idea it was that much. feel free to proxy it.
@@edhdeckbuilding fair enough lol, also though lots of great input on other cards!
