    Hi
    I want to make Turkish delight
    If we don't have cream of tartar (tarter), can we skip it
    It's hard to find cream of tartar in my country

    • @vegetarian-feast
      @vegetarian-feast  Год назад +3

      I haven’t tried it but recently Arkeus Pyralis made a very helpful suggestion in the comments for those who can’t find the cream of tartar.
      Per our conversation I’ve heard that you can substitute 1 tsp of tartar with 1 and 1/4 tsp of baking powder.
      I hope this will work 🙏 🥰

      @@RountineswithMahrukh760 Sorry maybe I made it complicated with my substitute suggestion :) I don't know why didn't I say just yes 😁 YES, you can just skip the cream of tartar.
      For instance, check out my chocolate Turkish Delight Recipe ➡ ruclips.net/video/szU4GMP66ns/видео.html
      I didn't use cream of tartar on that one.
      Apparently, the cream of tartar prevents the delights from becoming moist after some time.
      Frankly, almost 3-4 days later I saw slight moistening with the chocolate Turkish Delight but it was still good ☺

      You can use lemon juice instead of cream of tartar. Just needs to be something acidic to make it start to thicken.

    • @vegetarian-feast

      Corn flour / Corn starch gives a stretchy texture. I haven’t tried it with wheat starch but yes as far as I know you can use wheat starch instead without a problem. They act almost the same.
      To make it stretchy, make sure to cook it for 30 to 40 minutes after you add all the syrup.
      Apparently, rice flour is used in some Turkish delights but it might require a different process.
      I hope you'll enjoy it 🥰

      Hey, lots of love to Lebanon!❤ I'm Turkish, and living in Australia. I'm so happy to hear that you liked the recipe! 🥰 I didn't try adding milk to it. 🤔 If you are wondering how they make those original white sultan delights, they add Çöven Root foam to whiten the delights. It also adds its unique flavor to it. Homemade Sultan delights have become popular lately. It is not a Turkish delight, much more like a pudding dessert. Thanks for the details. I normally write both names as “corn flour/ corn starch “ in my all recipe descriptions but I forgot to add on this one but as soon as I saw the misconception I already added it☺️
      I’m a Turkish-Australian so in Turkey we specify wheat starch or corn starch.
      They act differently.
      In my early days of coming to Australia, once I asked starch at the supermarket and had a very awkward moment. Even though my husband is Australian and he understands when I say starch, the girl at the supermarket had an issue with it and short of a long story I ended up having a lecture about British and American English 😀 Since then I learned that in Australia it is called corn flour.
      Also once I found starch looks like noodles in a Syrian grocery store 🤔
      It would be nice if you publicly explain those so that everyone can have an understanding. Btw I really don’t know why it is called corn flour in British, I would appreciate if you can explain the reason as well 🙏☺️
      For the record I use corn starch/ corn flour in my recipes and will specify if I use different type of thickening agent 🥰
      Cheers!

      @arkeuspyralis594 Год назад

      @@vegetarian-feast its a wide spread linguistic issue with multiple languages, both in English and Latvian a lot of people use it interchangeably. Probably stems from them just looking sort of similar so it's up to recipe makers to clarify. Hopefully using the separate words becomes popular to avoid confusion soon. Cheers and the recipe is great! Also found that you can substitute the 1 tsp of tartar with 1 and 1/4 tsp of baking powder since cream of tartar is very hard to find here in Latvia.

    • @vegetarian-feast
      @vegetarian-feast  6 месяцев назад +1

      Η κρέμα ταρτάρ δημιουργεί μια υφή που σταθεροποιεί τη δομή του λουκούμι. Παρατείνει την περίοδο αποθήκευσης. Μπορείτε επίσης να το φτιάξετε χωρίς να χρησιμοποιήσετε κρέμα ταρτάρ, αντ 'αυτού, μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε χυμό λεμονιού ή μπέικιν πάουντερ. Επειδή είναι κατάλληλο για ελαφρύ πότισμα μετά από μερικές ώρες. Σας προτείνω να το σερβίρετε και να το καταναλώσετε αμέσως.
