  • This video is the longer, unnarrated version of the "Making of the Tulle Skeleton Dress". I have so much footage that doesn't make it into the narrated videos and I think it would be sad not to use it. That's why this is an additional video.
    So that if you want to know what I did, what I think about the process and learn something about the techniques I used you can watch the usual video, but if you feel like some calm background sewing, this video is for you!

    I was fully mystified during the whole video, I cannot imagine being as talented as you are Freida, it really is a rare treat to watch the process up until the finish. I love that in the beginning there is nothing, and then at the end there is this absolutely STUNNING dress and it all came from inside your head, THANK YOU for inviting us....

    But this? Gives me the good shivers and happy chemicals. So: Danke!

    Do you use vellum paper for your final patterns? I've been thinking about using it myself due to its durability and transparency instead of alpha-numeric paper for tracing my patterns. I love what you have and wondering what exactly it is if you don't mind?

    can you show us how u made the first mock up pattern, I really like the style of it but don't know where to start

  • @lynetteclauser3551
    @lynetteclauser3551 4 месяца назад +1

    Do you always use the same fabric for mock ups or do you change it to match the weight and fluidity of the final fabric or is it irrelevant?

    • @friedalepold
      @friedalepold  4 месяца назад +2

      It depends on why I do the mockup - if it’s just for the fit I am always using this fabric (only exception is when it’s a stretchy fabric).
      If I want to drape something for example I try to find a cheap version of the fabric I will use in the end :)

    I need to know more about the pattern you used underneath. What is it printed on, paper? plastic? Vellum? Do you overlap pattern pieces to save paper? How do you store them? Details, I need details!

    Thank you for your videos. Yor are expert, but you keep going slow, so... why me, who am not expert at all, want to rush? This thought push me to go slower and pay more attention to what I'm doing. I remain not-expert, but my work has improved (with the same amount of time). 😊

  • @sabrahardy
    @sabrahardy 4 месяца назад

    After the original number of layers was established...why not use clamps around the perimeter then machine a few basting lines vertically to keep the Tulle from shifting....then pin the pattern and machine baste around the edges of all the pattern pieces then cut ✂️ them out?

    • @friedalepold
      @friedalepold  4 месяца назад +2

      I always feel like I have more control with handbasting because I only have it on my cutting table and don’t have to move it. Aaand - I just really enjoy the process 😂 I know it takes longer, but in the end I think it’s about enjoying the way and not rushing to the end:)

    sewing on black fabric is like, it hides your mistakes, but also you can't see what you're sewing and you will feel super dizzy trying to see the thread in the fabric. If you want to take out the thread forget it

    Hi Frieda! I have an idea for a creation theme. If possible could you create a dress based on China’s Han dresses? I was writing a story and I realized how I could not come up with an idea of a flowing gown based on ancient china lady’s embroidery dresses. So I thought it might be a good theme since I can’t find a video for one. Something that isn’t a qipao.

      Hey! I do like your idea a lot, but to be honest I think I know way too little about chinas fashion history to make something like that. I don’t think I would do it justice with my knowledge at this point!

    Why is the word *skeleton" used to describe the dress though ??? It's quite macabre to use that word in combination with dress. 😨😨🤔🤔

    • @friedalepold
      @friedalepold  4 месяца назад +1

      I actually explain it in the narrated version - the dress is inspired by what is usually inside of the dress - the boned part that gives the dress its shape. Which sometimes is called the skeleton of a dress … So it’s meant in the anatomical way basically and not in a macabre way :)

    • @HeartWorX.Creations
      @HeartWorX.Creations 4 месяца назад +1

      It’s only your opinion that makes it “appear” macabre-to the sewer-she can call it or describe it however she wishes, your interpretation only fulfills a bias of your thinking…
      Maybe you might try being more “open” when ppl are expressing their art/craft in their own personal way…Just a thought to consider~🙏🌞
