Holy smokes that snort wheeze was clear as day. Great footage 👍 just found your channel and subscribed, looking forward to seeing you successfully harvest one with your grandfathers bow.
Awesome video !!!!! I have a old Bear Supermag 48 and and I love it for hunting on the ground or on my tree stand. Short, very light and precise, I can't live without it !!!
WOW! A Bear Kodiak, the same recurve my Son uses accept his is a 1953 I found for him! He loves it, it's his favorite! Awesome video, God Bless and keep you Safe!👍
It gets really tough when there are so many eyes and ears around and on edge to boot. Good job keeping your cool. Can't wait for you to get one with grandpa's bow. Really special! Best of luck! May your arrow fly true and your drag be short!
Keep it up bro. This traditional archery deer hunts are so entertaining and it's amazing you don't miss any detail. Really see mother nature doing her thing in all your videos ..really cool
Good luck this season! It’s been pretty slow for me in Livingston, the cold front this weekend should get em on there feet and hopefully the skeeters off. Can’t hunt this weekend though, My Mom has been remodeling so I’m gonna help her with that this weekend instead.
Great video. I don't know how you did it, to keep your cool with the number of bucks around you at that distance. They would have heard my heart pumping.
@@CrouseOutdoors I believe it was him telling the two that were sparring that dad was coming to break up the fight 😊 I have a 50# Bear Kodiak Magnum and killed my first deer with it in 1974....good luck!!! 👍
Great footage! Even heard the snort and wheeze! You definitely have no shortage of deer. I myself will be heading out with the Bear Kodiak Magnum that I got at a pawn shop here in PA. I've been practicing over 2 years and really want to take a deer with the recurve.
Will do. I can relax a little. Shot my PA. 8 point yesterday morning with my compound bow. 17" wide 145# field dressed mountain buck. 3 hour drag. Not 30 anymore 🤣. Good luck to you also!!
Nothing like being surrounded. Sometimes you see none, sometimes you see one, and then theres times like this where you've got a whole heard of does In front of you half spooked and big boy coming in behind you. Also love seeing the setup, making due with what's available
the cool thing about most of the old bows like your Bear, if they have been halfway taken care of, they are still good or even great bows. my old Kodiak Hunter is one sweet shooting bow, it was made in the 60s and still an awesome bow. can't say that about many compounds, they are usually shot after 4 or 5 years, cables or wheels. I do like to brush in around my knees at least when in a tree to give me some sort of brushy look and to hide some of my movement. Always some behind me to break up my silhouette because they will see you otherwise. I cut brush to hang plus use old christmas tree limbs because they have wire and they stay green. keep it up
@@CrouseOutdoors you don't have to build a box blind for the tree, just add cover that you can leave. the deer get used to seeing it there and it allows you more movement. you can add with knowledge of shooting a trad bow which needs a little more elbow room. I have used brown trot line to tie from limb to limb in order to hang limbs or branches from and just leave them. you can always walk out into the field or whatever to look back and see what they see in the tree. use natural add ons to your advantage. when done right, deer and people will walk by you and never notice you unless they too bowhunt and check trees for stand set ups.
I wondered if anyone worked notice that! You've got a good eye. I sharpened them and put some wd-40 on them to hopefully help prevent the issue in the future 👍
One of my very first bows Kodiac Magnum, which is a great little recurve. Best to hold for a real good shot. Its no fun wounding/ loosing any deer, and a good buck is real tuff. Herd him snort weeze
Little late, but cool video. Noticed while you were pulling your bow back, you have a high anchor point ( very close to eye). Three under as well, do you gap shoot?
Great video. You had some great action all around you. (I'm a fellow Michigan Hunter- but hunt public) I never see action like that. I love the second angle camera. What cameras are you running?
Wow that's really spectacularly strange that 3 descent size bucks was in front of you man,I would say that if it was rifle season & I saw 3 bucks like that in Michigan I would have shot the 2 bigger racks & let the spike alone, I'm sure it was rifle season you would have had a chance to shot the bigger buck as well good luck
You got some really great footage. I think I'd pick a different tree I would get back in the tree line if possible to help hide your silhouette better. You need to cover your face and hopefully you're practicing really good scent control because. A mature animal will smell you that close up every time unless the wind is in your favor 100% great video keep up the good work. it would be totally awesome to see you get a mature buck with a recurve!!!!
Great footage ! I can respect the efforts u ut into filming the hunt ... it's a challenge in itself to film , much less be successful filming and harvesting a deer 🦌 ! Great video man!! Really should atleast wrap some camo burlap around them trees atleast up to your waste I have a tree similar to that one that's what I did.
It would be a good idea to edit out from :39 to :45. The Michigan DNR frowns upon uncased bows in vehicles. They have at least one officer that primarily checks social media for fish and game violations. That bow needs to be un-strung or cased to be transported legally.

Why wouldn't you wear a mask or face paint? An why are you in your vehicle with your hunting clothes on? Very cool filming an story otherwise though. Especially the bow being handed down very cool.
I should have worn a mask or face paint, agreed. I used to have all scentlok gear and keep it in a tote till I got to the woods, sprayed down, used the soaps, the whole 9 yards. Still had deer winding me. Whole thing is a gimmick to sell more crap imo.
I use dead down wind wash my clothes even if I get them slightly sweaty I wash them again an use fresh earth wafers. An never ever wear my clothes in my vehicle I change everytime.
