    This is an awesome video. I love how Ben explains everything and highlights all of the interesting cards even when he knows he won't be picking them. This helps players learn.

    Holly crap, I had to go back to 46:50 and stare at the board for 5 minutes to realize the lethal wasn't possible after playing the witch. Awesome calculation speed Ben!

    at min 30 is it crazy to chump with the 3/2 so there is a value creature in bin to reanimate? Still get the 1/1 from the death trigger? Is this silly for a reason I am not thinking about?

    • @123mickymouse123
      @123mickymouse123 6 лет назад

      It just wouldn't really accomplish anything. He'd still end up with a net loss of one saproling token. The main difference would be that your proposal would drain an extra point of life, but the match was so slow anyway that I don't think that would have made a gigantic difference in the end. (I honestly don't really want to put in the time to analyse the turn thoroughly, so if I have made a mistake in my analysis I'll own up to it).

    I so do not get the boarding, the gorger basically made you survive by it continuously blocking big stuff, which they will still have G2, though you won't have any means to kill that big stuff anymore. Think it's just taking out the 2 Adventures and putting in to removal for the artifacts.

    • @אמנוןטל

      theXAKARI the main reason is the competition and prizes. Ben is one of the best players in the world and most people in Arena aren't close to his level. Plus, when he plays MODO he can actually win money and earn invites which he can't on Arena.

    Hey Ben, thanks for the video! On pack 3, you passed two Tetsukos without comment, which have worked very well for me with saproling archetypes. Are there any circumstances that you would splash for Tetsuko?

    Pack 3 Pick 1: too bad you didn't have any removal (outside Pierce the Sky for sideboard), because Forebear's Blade is so sweet on tokens.
    Also: MTGO should disable F6 on your first main phase if you haven't played anything IMO. Something like 1:12:30 shouldn't be allowed to happen, like it doesn't in paper MTG.

    • @kageotaku
      @kageotaku 6 лет назад

      Only because in paper Magic the intent is easier to make clear. Not screwing up your commands on MTGO is part of MTGO. When you press the button that says you are done with your turn, then you are done with your turn. If they added a "are you sure" I would sure be pissed off about them eating my clock.

    Dominaria is pretty good... then again, anything'd look good after IXA; remember how amazed we were at RIX?
    Then again, you say this, and then almost immediately (4th pack in) the packs end up being "just bad"... and that's been true of a lot of sets of late.
    ... Sylvan Awakening... it just wins games... you'll see another Soul Salvage...
    ... blade over removal, as it's a bomb in your deck. It's aggressive, but also great on the defense...
    ... Grunn > llanowar elves... when you only have 1 big creature thus far.
    Pounce 2.0 > Half Hell's Caretaker, especially when you have no big guys...

    • @williamsimkulet7832
      @williamsimkulet7832 6 лет назад

      RIX was... at least 1/3rd bad (IXA was a really bad and unbalanced set, and I keep seeing similar mistakes in less quantity in DOM and M19... along with the return of feel-bad color hosers).
      I still think Ascend, qua mechanic, was handled poorly, the 4-tribes things was stifling, and the "borrowed" Harbinger and "reveal" cycles seemed to miss what was important from the block they originally appeared in (4/5 of the Silvergill Adept cycle saw play back then, but only Silvergill Adept sees serious play now; the Harbingers were fun back then, but these are just mediocre even for Commander/Brawl Tutors. Oh, and don't forget the uninspired, identical WB and UB "lords"... good in spite of themselves.)
      Explore - I like the mechanic, despite being clunky and confusing. Then again, Clash showed that anything Scry-esque is usually good. That said, no serious "When you explore" triggers, and very little support killed any Explore deck in the cradle.
      Ascend - Again, clunky (it's ALWYAS checking?), and there just isn't a deck out of the deal. Also, the flavor always seems off, as my common gets better when I ascend? Given Treasure, an ascend deck might be possible... if there was a payoff.
      Treasure - another wasted mechanic (and with Innovate in the same standard, this would be the one to shine with ANY SUPPORT).
      Flip lands - This is the thing that matters. Single, powerful cards that are fun and useful. But this highlights the flaw with RIX, and IXA block as a whole - individual cards are good, but EVERY THEME/MECHANIC was underpowered/under supported. In Onslaught and Lorwyn, there were always 3+ incidental tribal decks running around. Onslaught saw a Cycling deck. Lorwyn saw a Prowl deck. RIX/IXA... gave us good cards, but not decks built around much synergy.
      The solution? Stop making cards designed to be unplayable, and start making cards designed to be "pretty good" in some decks, but unplayable in others. When only 10% of the cards in a format are constructed playable (across all constructed formats), the set suffers. But you start knocking 1 mana off spells so they're not functionally worse than existing cards, and start doing competitive cycles? Now that's a set with less dead cards in limited, and more diversity in standard (though it's diversity that even a mistake like Chainwhirler can probably kill... that's what happens when you phone it is WOTC).
