when you said "this pack drops off fast" i feel like that happens with A LOT of packs in this format. i do like your plan of just staying open and letting your pack 2 kind of decide for you what your second color will be.

Right. We won't be able to copy the Lightning, but we can at least block the Knight and bolt the Acolyte.
My guess is either that LSV missed the cost reduction or, judging from the Shivan Fire comment immediately after, figured the only way out was to copy a removal spell.

I was minorly surprised to see you not take Eldest Reborn P1P1 (Teshar is on par with it only if you draft historic, which many decks just won't end up being). But how the hell did you get 5th pick fight with fire? What were the possible other 4 cards before it?
Perhaps some people are blinded by all the "Red is the worst color in the set" talk that seems to be going around and just didn't want to take it? Even then that seems silly.
I watched some actual pack Dominaria draft, the rarity just seems different in the online version. I don’t think 3 wizard lightings show up in 24 packs. Let alone do you get all 3 for yourself.
I’ve also watched a lot of sapproling decks just do nothing. And I’ve watched people skip too many of the cute “historic” low mana artifact creatures.
But in regards to fight with fire- you just don’t get to 9 mana unless you have ramp. So it’s a 5 dmg to target creature sorcery. If your deck is 23-24/17-16, getting to 9 mana should take about 13+ turns. Hard to do unless you’re playing RG sapprolings
@@chrisp2757 You can get to 9 mana if you are running a UR deck with 2-3 merfolk wizards, and hitting lands with 2-3 divination spells. Is possible to throw a 10 damage in turn 6-7.
In that first game of the last match. Why not cast naru meha to block the vigilance soldier and on top also play the wizards lightning at discount?

I think Flame of Keld is OK in very aggressive red decks. It has performed reasonable for me in R/U und R/W aggressive decks
i'd even say that it is a strong card in agressive red decks. Picking it up more and more

seriously, it's one of the best commons in the set. I know lsv is a great drafter and magic players in general, but I don't think he has a good grasp on this format.
I know that, to quote a famous Magic player, LSV was "off it" at the end, but I felt like the final concession was hasty, with opponent on one card and the chance to draw a Journeymage for the Horror.
passing on jaya ballard was crazy
3:45 I would've taken Academy Drake, because it's a solid flyer and 3 drops are always the cards I end up with too few of at the end even though it's not on color yet, rather than Skizzik, which is good but it sucks that it has 3 toughness and I always end up with too many 4 and 5 mana creatures.
The Best thing about Dominaria, the Phrase "Death by Yargle" now exists.

100% definitely should have been main decking the cloud reader sphinx IMO. It would have been great in almost every single match. It's also debatable that you should have been running atleast one of the scholars. I heard you say multiple times that you have been losing a lot in draft. Maybe you should take a step back and re evaluate your take on this draft format. I know you're one of the greatest of all time, and surely better than me, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
In draft format, what would the absolute ideal 40 be for UR wizards deck if you could choose ?
powerstone shard isnt that horrible, especially if you can pick up some ghitu chroniclers, also helps the twincast mage. keldon overseer is busted btw if you can pick up multiples

well played, guess all the removal, all the curve and all the cards pretty much beats any deck on a mulligan.
I was going to complain about passing Glider and The Flame of Keld, but taking Sparring Construct over Sphinx is just egregious.

Is Jaya actually playable? This is an honest question not trying to argue, I've basically never seen her in play so I'm curious.
qazzaq Stan i'd argue not. 5 mana planeswalker that doesnt effect the board means that you'd have to build around her somewhat to even make her slightly playable. The loot is decent, but realistically you cant expect to get enough playable instants or sorceries to make either her first or ult useful.

we have 4 relic runners
His purpose was to trigger the relic runners. He was low on otherwise playable historic cards.
I'm sure LSV would've preferred a more relevant historic trigger but at least he also had the upside of maybe getting Arcane Flight put on him.
Unexciting overall since the deck doesn't absue him, but sometimes you just need a 3/2 curve filler with some upside.
Also, to be fair, when LSV took Valduk the plan was to also take up Short Swords which he had the opportunity in pack 3 but he was getting dealt all the good UR stuff.

You have givewaaaay too much value to relic runners, in my draft they are fillers as best, unless you pick that 1/3 that makes them unblockable, that you were extremely lucky to pick.
Opts, are meh, and passing the sphinx/es is utterly mad.

Who takes a sparring construct over the sphinx?? Yeah, one artifact makes a 2./1 unlockable for a turn. The Sphinx has evasion EVERY turn. Can't watch this anymore..
