Sadly this is a very common perspective amongst those who lack understanding of what the Gospel and the history of humanity told in the Bible really is. It is very telling of the depth of our dilemma that a man in his position has so little understanding of basic biblical Christianity. Oh Trump, you kill me. Clips like this just remind me that we, for whatever reason, never seem to elect great thinkers to office anymore. Not to say that Trump is unintelligent. He’s probably more knowledgeable about certain things than Doug. And of course, his disposition is possibly more suited to the role of commander in chief. But Doug is undoubtedly wiser, and generally a more intelligent man. Not to mention, his grasp on morality and understanding of Christianity. I would sure sleep more soundly knowing that men of Doug’s caliber were actually running things.

The most awesome fact is that Jesus came to save the world, not just a select few. I know that although I have been born again over 3 decades ago, raised in a Christian home, I am way far from perfect and still a sinner (although I don't want to be). Only after that one day when we are called up to meet Him in the sky will I be made perfect as He is perfect. Until then, I can NOT look at the splinter in someone else's eyes through the plank in my own. He who lives in glasses houses.... God works through many many people. Look at all those He worked through in the old testament that we would say were not godly. He even has a prostitute, Rahab, in His lineage. Be very careful what we think and say about those Jesus loves and died for.

It is common to step back from direct evangelism when conducting a formal interview, or being formal in general in business affairs. Trump surely deals with a wide range of people. Some may be quite close to Jesus, while others may be completely lost. His motive in an interview is going to be on line with his profession or cultural identity. I’ve heard him give a clearly articulated Christmas message which praised and thank “our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” His goal is probably to get elected where he is able to advance the cause of Christ using his political position. Or, you could say he’s all hot air.
