I saved this video like 2 years ago. Finally put my 1st LED strip into a JFCA Snack Box. Thanks for the vid. Also, that wire stripper is 100% necessary. Great call.
now this mod is cool but what would make this even better is if you were to add frosted panels or some type of diffuser sheet and pushed the led strip closer to the inside wall of the panel to brighten up the led effect but with the diffuser it makes it a smoother experience
@@jonyfraze hello i have a dumb question and please bear with me but are they safe to use on consoles and pc because i do want to install an LED strip inside my bnb and espada stick but I'm afraid of it either short circuiting my console or pc.
Example: The standard USB type A port can output (5V*500mA)=2.5Watts. The current consumption of UFB & UP5-Kit is around 120mA. When three RGB LEDs turns on, it needs typically 60mA current. Based on this I usually limit my LEDs to 12-16 individual lights in order to make sure there’s enough power. At tournaments where there’s a large power draw due to multiple consoles / monitors hooked up, sticks with LEDs usually are the first to stop working.
This vid was amazingly helpful despite how old it is now! I finally installed a new LED strip for my hit box after contemplating for so long. Thank you!
Have you done this for the hitbox™️? Wondering if I can get this done with the stock brook it holds? If so can you point me in the direction of how to make it happen? Already have some clear buttons to make it happen and now doing this would bring it to life. Lol please and thank you!
Awesome, I stripped the usb from my rgb strip and it already works on my RP2040 Advanced Breakout Board. That was like 5 minutes of work. It'll be ready to be put in my 4TW tomorrow :D
At tourneys there’s a large power draw due to multiple consoles / monitors hooked up, sticks with LEDs are the 1st to stop working. USB-A outputs 500mA. UFB & UP5-Kit = 120mA. 3 RGB LEDs = 60mA. So I limit my LEDs to 12-16 to make sure there’s enough power.
You can arrange the lights to wrap around the buttons like so: ruclips.net/video/jRn9LKE2pvQ/видео.html. For the best solution, check out the kaimana kit from paradise arcade.
Hello hello! @jonyfraze I'm going to upgrade my hitbox with Raspberry v1.1A Pico Fighting Board GP2040. I want to install my new RGB LED strip: WS2812 with a voltage of 5V and 60 LEDs per 1 meter. The maximum lamp power and consumption is 14.4 watts. is everything okay or my board burn out if I install this LED strip? thank you so much for your help!

@jonyfraze thank you very much for the answer. in this case, I will take two lines of WS2812 RGB LEDs 5V, there are just 8 LEDs in one line , think i will be fine with two of them. it will be 16 together. what do you think about it?
Another question, how the led strip stays on the same color i changed with the led control? I'm using the same led strip and every time i connect the control the leds turn on with the default color, help me please

Hey, I was wondering is there anyway to add the LED light strips even with the Brook Ps5 upgrade kit installed on the board? The Ps5 upgrade kit goes over the same slots where you installed the cables for the LED lights so I wanted to know if there's still any other way to add the LED lights even with the Ps5 upgrade kit already installed
Bro i work a fulltime job as an electrical engineering designer but don't have time to do all the fancy art works and led to my stick can I just commission you homie?
isn't this going to add a significant power draw to the stick? PS4s are notorious for dropping out signals when power consumption gets high. you plug a stick into the console and the hdmi signal cuts out for a second, for example. i always recommend our tournament player sync their pads, then unplug them to minimize that power draw. does the monster kit have specs for current and power?
It only requires 5V to operate at full brightness (which is extremely low). For instance some of the newer optical joysticks require 5V as well to operate. Also keep in mind you can just turn off the lights for tournament play.
@@jonyfraze keep that remote taped to the bottom :) the whole stick only takes 5V to operate, and i get the feeling lights pull as much current as the whole thing. i might just grab a strand out of the drawer and see how wild it can get. cheers!

Also, turn your comments on, on the other tutorials… that makes no sense. Don’t be butt-hurt about comments, people need to read them to learn about the goddamn fight stick. Just so backwards.

I used a cheaper led that was always green, but thank you, this allowed me to illuminate my first build.
There's other brands of LED strips that will actually remember the last setting you put on. Also these usually draw half to a 1amp at 5 volts.
Yeah I used to use a brand called MagicLED that remembered the settings.

It’s a common upgrade for fightsticks. Usually there’s enough power draw from the VCC line off the usb to power most LED setups.
