I meant to add that “mistakes “ are happy accidents that make your work so very beautiful and happy feeling. You say it well that if you’re happy that’s all that matters. I’m so inspired! 😊
Karen you always make me smile. I love how you are always so intuitive and able to get a beautiful result even though you did not intend a “flub” as I would call it. I’ve adored learning so many techniques from watching and hearing your thought process and why. I had to chuckle when you were reading a color admitting that you read in one language and translation in English. I do that always. Maybe one day I’ll have the courage to finish a few more projects and post them. Thank you for being such an inspiration 🧡
lol lots of funny things happen when I'm creating especially when I'm recording live or going live. but yes I try not to give up on things. however sometimes its ok if we don't finish
Keren, I absolutely LOVE these pages!!!! I'm so glad you left in your 'boo-boos' to show us all how we can salvage a project. I don't usually like to pitch my 'failures' into the trash bin, but I have a few times. So I'm very glad you persevered , because that teaches me that if I maybe just keep at it and try, I may be able to salvage an art piece. You never cease to amaze and inspire!! Love you to pieces sweetie, and I thank you so much for always sharing your creative knowledge and journey so freely with everyone! I can't wait to get home from work and get my fingers and hands all inky and mixed media-d (maybe I just created a new word, heehee)! I usually go into work in the morning with rainbow stained fingers! Creating is my therapy and relaxation, so I'm in my craft room daily, and the inkier I get, the happier I am!
I think mistakes are part of the process and we need to embrace them. I always try to fix them. I think in the past 15 years doing this I've only thrown 2 in the garbage. I always try to fix and so its important to convey that to people so they know that we all make mistakes. thank you so much for your words. they mean so much to me, more than you'll ever know. and I also go places with inky fingers and today they were red so someone thought it was blood. lol
It's so refreshing to see mistakes. I find it reassuring that a page can be imperfect but you can do something with it anyway. It's not the end of the world and you don't have to give up on art journaling. It's experience and getting to know your items, your style, and how to work through a problem. Also, If you don't wait for the paste to dry, and you get extra where you don't want it, you can use a narrow spatula to scrape the excess then wipe the rest away. Thanks for sharing.
I love watching your techniques unfold before our very eyes! I really love the champagne gold stencil paste! I love too that you mention mistakes and to not have any shame about them and just kind of make it your own!
thank you so much!! yes that's part of the process and I want people to learn that mistakes are ok. I've focused on that point many times on my videos. Especially the video about 10 most common mistakes people believe about mixed media
I think it’s wonderful how you kept working to fix this until you were happy with it. Really gives me the courage as a newbie and perfectionist to go with the flow and have confidence it will all work out in the end! Thank you!!
thank you, I try my best to never give up on my artwork I've only thrown 2 projects over the years. lol. and that was after trying to fix it for so long
The pages turned out beautiful Keren! It's a nice reminder that not every thing always turns out perfect for those who have been creating mixed media for awhile. It's a great lesson to show us all to keep trying on the piece no matter what happens. The piece is part of the process. Thank you for keeping it real and not editing out the "hot mess!" Keep doing what you do, your beautiful inside and out and a true inspiration! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ XxhugsxX. 🦋Dawn
In the beginning, I wasn't too sure about the colours, I loved the stencilling, but then you started shaping with the darker colours it was like wow!!! Just beautiful Keren Thank you....
Linda thanks so much!!! I know this particular one was a process to try and fix what I didn't like. I knew the shadowing is supposed to work but sometimes things don't interact as we want them to. I was happy with the result at the end!!
For me that is what I love about crafting, doesn't always go where you plan, but somewhere even better. one of my hardest lessons is to just go with what is happening in front of me, not my thought plan, I was always disappointed that way.Thankyou Keren...Xxx
yes I think those are hard lessons for everyone not only in art journaling but in life. we (me included) have a hard time going with the flow because we want to control everything, especially the outcome. However I find it easier to go with the flow in art than in life LOL
Keren, I really really love when you do not fast forward these videos! As I am watching, I am creating myself my own projects, so to me the long slow videos suit well - I do not need to glue my eyes on the screen to keep up with your progress. And I also love your explaining the process. Thank you for sharing, you are amazingly talented!
Anna-Maria, thank you so so much!! your words mean a lot to me and I will be doing more videos like this as I've gotten a huge positive response about real time videos.
I hope you do many of these for the Beginning Art Journal Process. This class made me happy to get up this morning. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you.
What a beautiful spread. Love the colours - it makes me want to grab my set and play! I'd just like to give you a tip for future projects with stencils. When using a stencil where there are several images, use masking tape or tape off with paper (post-its are good for this) the parts you don't want to reproduce. Tfs!
I really enjoy your personality. Thank you for working with stencils to teach us. I had only just finished my own FIRST mixed-media project, but I can't find any stencils, so thank you for using these and leaving the links! You are so sweet, and so enjoyable. Your outlining the flamingos with the dark pen really worked! I like the project. It really helped me to watch you work through it. Thanks again.
AW!!! thank you so much!! you're so sweet. and yes I always put the links. I'm actually a stencil fanatic as I love texture. I've been collecting stencils over the years because they are a staple in my artwork, especially for mixed media and art journaling. I have a video on my channel that is dedicated just for stencils. You can scroll down the videos to see it. your words are so kind to me!! thank you so much!!
Thank you for replying. So many times the artists don't look at the RUclips posts. And, yes, I would love to look at your vdio just on stencils! Great!
not a flamingo fan, but I actually liked this - I am going to try those Joggles disc journals. I always enjoy and learn from your great videos. thank you
I loved these pages before u added the brown but think that’s because I really love bright colors. Really like the Joggles journal especially the watercolor paper. I have one “expandable” journal that I bought on clearance and can’t find another. I’m putting this one on my wish list. Are there covers available? Thanks so much for sharing!!
yes I loved it before the brown and I really wanted to add shadows as the flamingoes were getting lost but as you saw i messed it up and then finally feel like I fixed it. what I like about art journaling is that its a process, a journey into art and if I make mistakes oh well!!! its part of the process. in terms of the journal, there's not really a cover however you can just make one of the pages a cover as they are pretty sturdy
no. I didn't as the paper is thick watercolor paper and it doesn't need it for those markers as they are ink but act like watercolors. I don't alway add gesso
so sorrry I didn't reply to this sooner. they are 2 different types of products. I have a video just on gesso (All about gesso) and one just on modelling paste (all about modelling paste) , it might clarify things
Keren Tamir anytime my friend .. I'm going to have a play with my markers too now. This is why I love video's they inspire me to use those forgotten products.. I had to have these markers then only used them a couple times. LOL
Love this so much!!! Thanks very much for sharing these tips, these gonna be so helpful for me!!! lovely art journal page!! Thanks so much sweetie!!! Hugs Dr Monika Tripathi Shukla

yes it is true even today after so many years! thank you so much for your kind words!
I think you are so great to let your viewers see your mistakes and what you do to fix them! I appreciate you.
thanks so much I appreciate it so much
I haven't started journaling yet, but watching your frustration actually gave me confidence to start. Great video.💗
Yay I'm so happy to hear!!!

Very pretty. The pearl paste seemed crisper and dried harder. The gold paste seemed softer and gummy. I enjoyed the process.
they are actually the same consistency but interesting how its viewed online. thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much Fae!! welcome and so glad you're here!!

Beautiful page.
thank you so much!!
Hello keren, have you apply some gesso before? Thanks and kisses from France 😘
no. I didn't as the paper is thick watercolor paper and it doesn't need it for those markers as they are ink but act like watercolors. I don't alway add gesso
hi i have a beginers question what is the purpose of gesso or modlding paste?
so sorrry I didn't reply to this sooner. they are 2 different types of products. I have a video just on gesso (All about gesso) and one just on modelling paste (all about modelling paste) , it might clarify things
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
thank you so much!
Very nice art journal pages Keren. tfs =^^=
thank you so much Debbie!!
No priming before adding the paste?
you don't have to prime before adding paste, it depends on the techniques or formula youre working on
I have these markers and I only used them a couple time
I know me too, this is why I took them out. and thank you for listening to me yesterday. it meant a lot
Keren Tamir anytime my friend .. I'm going to have a play with my markers too now. This is why I love video's they inspire me to use those forgotten products.. I had to have these markers then only used them a couple times. LOL

Flamingos are "BAD LUCK", and I don't make them!!!!
