I think Cobus is a great drummer! I have noticed that a lot of people have been complaining about his choice of songs and camera angles and sound quality etc. It would be wise for Cobus to listen to the internet audience he has. Yes, he is doing what he loves, but he even said the only reason he is where he is is because of us. If he isn't careful and doesn't listen to what his followers are saying, he could end up in trouble. many artist have made the mistake of not listening to their fans...

It's nice to see how you're evolving as a drummer. In the Fuego series, it seems you have learned to restrain yourself where the song needs it and show off when the music allows room for it. The same creativity is there, but is much more appropriate to the overall groove of the music. You were always a great musician, and you have the mindset a professional
Do you people ever stop to think of how lucky we are that he even posts videos for us to enjoy? I don't understand why people must be so picky about how he plays or whether or not he sounds the same as he used to. Just sit back and enjoy it!

I used to watch cobus and think that his covers were average just not very interesting, boy was I wrong! after playing drums for a year, I realize how much time and effort cobus HAS to put in these to make them this good! keep up the AWESOME work!! I like chasing the dream of being as good as cobus one day.

cobus is just getting better...everyone says he should back to old but if you know what playing drums is about then you would know that drumming is about the groove and making people wanna listen...not about how fast you can play...learn about drumming guys...i bet the people who want him to go back cant even play half the stuff he does

Hey guys, before you read the below statement, understand this, i'm not dissing Cobus at all, im just trying to work something out.
I've been watching Cobus for a while and yes, his covers are good but what i really want to know is, why exactly do you guys like Cobus' videos and what exactly makes them worthy of the large amount of subscribers he has? Is it the music he plays or the sound quality or quality of the video etc?

people who say this isnt the old cobus style it is still an amazingly creative cover of a very simple song with a lot of good ideas thrown in, especially on some fills. And he changed the lyrics at points like he normally would to make it more youtube friendly. Cobus is still the same Cobus and he is still amazing

Im a professional drummer. Look its 1/2 the time I remark at what a truly talented drummer he is & the other 1/2 copying a few og his fills & phrasing & his cymbal tricks. He reminds me of the talemt level of Stuart Copeland or Simon Phillips, or a Mike Portnoy. Seriously , he is 1 of the best drummers Ive ever seen. Im 51 yrs old so Ive seen alot. Hail Cobus !! i still love cobus. and for all you complaining about some sort of "selling out" he's doing need to think. if you were are drummer, and it's what you're really passionate about, it would be your dream to get to record in a real studio with awesome equipment too, so be happy for his success. But it does seem that some of you are kinda right about the fuego series. seems more like just covers than making it completely his own. but let the guy have fun. he'll have the fantastic stuff again

I don't understand people, i see alot of comments about how people think that he doesn't play as "much" as he used to. Guys, you should remember that Cobus recorded ALL these videos (Fuego series) in a row, so stop telling him "YOU'RE NOT EXCITED" or "YOUR OLD STUFF WAS BETTER", I agree with you, but Cobus won't stop uploading the videos he already recorded like half a year ago. I'm sure he will listen to us, but stop complaining by now.

@underpaiddrummer The ability to make each cover different from the original is what made Cobus famous. Cobus is unique not only because of his drumming skills, but also because of his ability to intensify the songs that he covers with his creative and fun drumming. If he plays exactly the same as the songs, he would be just another drummer.
I am not complaining anything, I am perfectly fine with the way Cobus is playing now, I am just pointing out that your point is invalid.
I was in high school for this song too. Seen it covered so many times in by cover bands in dive bars in NY.

I agree it wasn't a hard song. I agree it's not the most mind blowing Cobus ever. But... It's a classic being performed by an amazing talent and sometimes the original is so good it was the top modern rock song of 1999 and road the top of that billboard chart for three months. It's hard to make much improvement on that.

@Volentry I personally preferred his old videos because he was basically writing his own awesome drum part to an already awesome. That takes talent as a musician.

@AshleeChoo I remember the fact that no one is forcing you to watch these videos, and it would probably be best if you'd just shut up and stop watching them if you don't like them. Cobus is covering songs he likes playing, not necessarily songs that YOU like.

Stop being so stuck up and spoiled. This is HIS channel, and he will do what he wants. If you wanna see crazy stuff watch his almost easy video, other than that watch and be in shock and awe! If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it...simple as that!
I don't understand why people are saying Cobus has simplified this cover. There are still some of his trademark fills (admittedly not as many!) but I think this song suits a more basic drum pattern anyway. Sometimes less is more!
