      @@davidostrowski679 - my son-in-law's family came to the US in 1986 as "undocumented" people. Thankfully, they weren't treated as we treat our neighbors around the world now! His family came from the state of San Luis Potosi so I was esp. interested in all your videos about the state and thrilled you chose it as YOUR #1 spot to visit. I've sent your videos on to him; he's never been back so I'm hoping to get him (and my family) down there for a visit at the least. Have fun in Canada! Love your videos!

      Amazing story! I miss SLP so much, it just personifies everything about Mexico, but I know some locals would disagree, but I never had a bad experience there!

    • @tamaratrussell
      @tamaratrussell 5 лет назад +1

      @@davidostrowski679 - I believe how one is treated is how one treats others....a bad experience? Maybe someone was having a bad day. Maybe they live in abject poverty and can't imagine the "wealth" we have....or, maybe some American came down and treated them badly and they now view all of us through that lens. I like that you say SLP personifies everything about Mexico -- everything! Yes, if we all shared all the stuff from all our towns there would be a lot of unpleasant info shared. Doesn't make all the people bad there. I know you get my drift. Hope to see you in Mexico someday somewhere!

    Great list! It will be interesting to see if you reorder your locations after the passage of time. I suspect that Mexico City will move up (you might be taking it for granted right now as a result of "overexposure"). CDMX cannot be beat as a comprehensive introduction to Mexican culture and history!
    As an example of how things can change with the passage of time, I did not realize that Oaxaca was my #1 (tie with CDMX) until months later - after I had visited Puerto Escondido, Puebla and Merida. I hope you give Oaxaca another chance. Not just the city, but the gorgeous blue surrounding valleys. The Sunday market in Tlacolula is an incredible authentic cultural experience with amazing food and colourfully dressed Zapotec women selling produce, textiles and live turkeys. The archeological sites of Monte Alban and Mitla are stunning (and we were able to time our visits to both locations to be almost alone there). One more thing about Oaxaca - it is the home of Benito Juarez, the first indigenous president of Mexico. We learned much about him and Mexican history in Oaxaca. Oaxaca has lots of tourists, but mostly Mexican nationals and Europeans who are genuinely interested in experiencing the culture (as opposed to Americans interested in setting up gated ex pat communities and expensive craft shops (as in San Miguel and Merida).
    Your beautiful IG photo of Bernal convinced us to go there - and Queretaro - on our next visit. Many thanks

    Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 nací y crecí en Aguascalientes con su Feria de San Marcos, pero mi ciudad favorita es Guanajuato y su festival Cervantino que es una fiesta más cultural, a diferencia de la Feria SanMarqueña que es pura borrachera. Saludos amigo!
