- The old Malibu was on a mission this weekend in TEXAS! 1.40 60ft ON MOTOR? Yeah… the air was definitely good, but engine reacted favorably to the recent changes made to the Carburetor and ignition timing.

Plus, we went to XRP to test on Sunday and REALLY saw what the Malibu was capable of, and what the transmission IS NOT!

In the last round, when you staged, you could hear the front suspension squeaking has you worked the brake pedal. Sounds like Uncle Bucko needs to do some maintenance!

700's are a ticking time bomb 💣 th400 or 4l80e are the way to go especially when you start to make good power. I prefer th400 and gear vendors overdrive.

@@chicago_race_engines7538 I feel you. I have a th400 transmission with gear vendors overdrive setup in my '68 impala. It's mated to a 496 big block that dynoed at 565hp and 600tq. At times I beat the hell out it and I never worry about breaking it. 700's are nice transmissions with a great overdrive cruising gear, but they were never engineered to used in drag racing.
i literally grew up next to that carwash on oconner. i haven't lived in irving for many years, but it sure is nice to see a piece of home even if it's on the internet.

Awesome video. I’ve been waiting on it all week. Wow. 6.60 on motor. At 3800 lbs with AC. On a foot brake !! THATS FREAKIN FAST ! It’ll go even faster once you get a trans that’ll hold the power you’re making. I’d say that 2nd gear has been slipping a little that you don’t even realize. Can’t wait to see what she does with the 4L80.

I wonder if you wouldn't be better going to a turbo 400 and a gear vendor's overdrive vs a 4l80e and everything to switch it to a cable speedometer. Just a thought. Another option is to forget the dash speedometer entirely and go to a GPS type speedometer. There is a conversion box to convert the 4l80e vss signal into a speedometer cable to run the speedometer, but as far as I've ever seen it's around $400. So I wonder what the price difference is between a built th400 and a 4l80e that will do what you need.

The Old Man always contributing to my sleepless nights lol. Great job at The Gut. Shame the Nova only had a couple passes but it looked good on the ones it did. Tell Billy to go with Comp oil-less turbos and you don't need to worry about drain backs ever again. Just a few squeezes of their mineral lubricant every few passes.

Bill, Watch 187 Customs Video about his 55, why he changed from a 4L80E to a Turbo 400 with a gear vendors. He had all kinds of problems finding a converter that would work and 1-2 tenth delay from the time he released the trans brake, then the car would react???? You may not want to make that move?? FYI, love the channel and best of luck
Hi uncle bill have you ever thought of refreshing the dully engine and transmission?. Come to think about it it is cheaper that buying a new truck plus older cars are more reliable. I think Uncle Bob can get that done quickly with a stock engine and heads that needs a refreshed new cam and Cam bearing, engine bearing, high volume oil pump, refresh the transmission. You live in Ohio there snow and salt if you ask me I would not spend money on newer truck if you live in an environment like that. Also I would replace the manifold with headers nothing fancy and nice exhaust to keep the old girls she is being good to your family for years.
That would be phenomenal The fact that shes got over 365000 miles on her body definitely says she worth some extra TLC. Kinda like like Miss Vicky truck. And just think of all the joy that it would bring Uncle Bucko I'm sure he would share all of the excitement and joy that he would experience with everyone .Who knows maybe And show what preventive maintenance looks like😅

Congratulations Bill! The Malibu looked really fast and sweet as usual! Great win at Yello Belly! Super impressive times on motor, on nitrous everything! Actually since I am building a pretty quick daily out of an 87 Monte Carlo SS so I even learned something about the limits of the 700r and the next step is the 4L80e. I too will be doing an overdrive trans and Dakota Ditigal dash. A low mileage Malibu that runs 6s and can be driven anywhere, that’s pretty hard to beat! I like your style. Take care👍👍👍

Also, I don’t know if TCI still makes it, but I have there reversed, manual valve body with trans brake, it works well.
I have that valve body in my 4L80 too and I like it. I haven’t had any issues with it
