    Correction: Resident Evil came out in 1996. My memory failed me for a minute there! Appreciate those of you who kindly pointed that out. 👍
    Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed the story of how I got Resident Evil - Code: Veronica on my SEGA Dreamcast. This game is really special to me, and it's awesome to get to share these stories of Dad and my game crazy family. :-) Is Code: Veronica your favorite like it is mine? Are you going to play the new Resident Evil 8 that just dropped? Let me know. Thanks everyone.

    • @penguinjay
      @penguinjay Год назад +8

      he liked video games probably more than the kids lolol. Not taking anything away from him, but it's hard to force yourself to like your kids' hobbies when you just aren't into them. You can play some airsoft and paintball, and go along with the sports they take a liking to, but it's rare that a father back then loved gaming like this Dad did. Don't let that take away from your memories of your dad, I bet there was a ton that he pushed and took an interest in. My parents never got into gaming like I did. My grandma was my plug. But my parents did all sorts of other things to take a general interest in my hobbies, video games just wasn't one of them.
      If you even try half as much as this Dad did, you will be seen as the coolest dude ever by your kids!

    I got this game in 2000 and it was the most obsessed I've ever been probably before a game release. I read the same articles about CV over and over, couldn't wait to play it and it was totally worth it when I got it on release. These videos truly take me back, man what amazing memories. When I watch your videos It takes me right back to those times.

    I was introduced to the greatest horror franchise I could’ve ever known, through Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. And I don’t regret not listening to my parents when they said I can’t play it. Waited for them to be asleep & snuck into my brothers room at like 2 AM, me & my siblings booted that up & were TERRIFIED of a lot of the jump scares & Nemesis himself. But god……. Resident Evil is EVERYTHING to me & will ALWAYS be. Also spawned my absolute love for horror in any form I could get it.

    I remember hearing Resident Evil would shift to the Dreamcast and knew I had to play RE CV, it was not until i had the PS2 I finally got to play it with a new difficulty curve....and yes I forgot the fire extinguisher 😄. I have played RE since I got the Directors Cut in the UK (fortunately the better one with Original Music) it too scared me lights out and head phones. But I did it. Each game has Ben a catharsis, a safe way of being sacred. The story and surviving is what has kept me a fan all this time.
    Thank you Tyler I did wonder if your were going to touch upon my Favourite franchise. 👍

    So many memories of playing Resident Evil 1-3, and CODE: Veronica. Man, I still think that the first few games are the best in the series. I never had any problems with the tank controls and fixed camera angles; the latter just felt right for these games where if you go around the corner and the screen shifts to a zombie in your face.

    Thank you so much for reminding us what this original Resident Evil, heck this previous era of Resident Evil meant to people and how effective it was, especially for back in those days. Nowadays, people can try out this original game along with some of the other older ones and giggle at it, not understanding what they did accomplish. It's a bit crazy to know that even with all that fear those games gave you, you came back to it, remembered them and embraced them. Thank you for sharing this part of your life as a gamer in this era!! Thanks to your dad for sharing his biggest passion which now carries to many others.

    Damn, you got three brand new games for your Birthday? Right on, dude. I once got three brand new games for Christmas, but it was only one time. Christmas 2006. Mortal Kombat Armageddon (Collector's Edition!!!), Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2, and WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007. I was so happy, I felt like I had it all that Christmas. Next Christmas, I got a PS3!!! Christmas 2008, I got my final real big Christmas gift from my parents... the Xbox 360 Elite. After that, my parents got sicker and older, and we got poorer. Still, I had a spoiled life, I consider. Am still so thankful to my parents taking out loans and working their asses off to spend their last dollar on something they knew nothing about, just for me.
    Sorry, when I get started on something I just sorta ramble. I love watching Birthday and Christmas openings. Thank you for sharing. :)

    Either way, this game blew my socks off back in the day. No other RE game has came close, minus maybe RE8 or RE2 remake.
    With the Revelations titles coming close, largely due to RE:R2’s awesome raid mode and both of the games interesting mechanics.

    My first RE game was RE2. I didn't have the PS1 back then, so I played it at a friend's house. He didn't know english -we're latinos- so he invited me to help him. It was stunning, since I used to love zombie movies and the game was like an interactive movie. You were in the middle of the chaos, alone. A few years later, I got a part time job and bought my own PS1, and I could finally play RE1 and RE3. Today, I'm a huge fan of the series. Code Veronica blew my mind back then. Aww man this was amazing, I love that you made your own Resident Evil movies! Code Veronica is my favourite Resident Evil too 😍 I prefer the movie inspired camera angles to the more generic gaming ones from 4 onwards, and Code Veronica having the full 3d backgrounds allowing subtle camera movements improves the effect tenfold.
    I'm a few years older and I think I was 18 when it came out. I was going on holiday without my parents to a holiday camp where I had a few friends who always went to the same place and we'd agreed to meet, this was our first times going to that place without parents. I'd saved up £50 for beer money for the long weekend (Friday to Monday). However, on the first day we went out shopping and I saw a demo pod running Code Veronica and was absolutely blown away by the graphics and atmosphere, I HAD to buy it IMMEDIATELY and spent all my beer money. We spent the entire trip playing the game all sat round a CRT TV, drinking and shouting at the tv solving the puzzles together. The other dudes let me share their beers, as they were happy to play the game all weekend! It was such a blast.
    One of my friends had his you get sister there with him too, I think she was about 14. She wanted to watch and I remember clear as day how she physically jumped in fright off the sofa in the caravan when the dogs burst through the window. That was the first time I'd ever seen anyone actually jump like in a cartoon 😂
