Vehicle Fuse Box Replacement

  • Today we'll be showing how to remove and replace a fuse and relay box. Modern vehicles typically have at least two fuse and relay boxes; one under hood and the other inside the cabin. Ultimately, they act as the nerve center for your vehicle. Operating the headlights, rear defroster, blower motor, cooling fans, radio, door locks, windows, bluetooth, gauge cluster, etc...is all possible with the use of fuse boxes and relay boxes. You may need to replace one due to a collision, mishap, flood or just to give you more working room. This specific vehicle is a 2003 Honda Accord.

    There are many tutorials but 99% fail at showing and including the watcher. You have done amazing and did an outstanding job at pointing out what you’re doing every step and making sure the viewer wasn’t forgotten. I don’t leave comments but you have just done a great job and was praise worthy. I appreciate your effort and hard work.

    Awesome video! Thank you. I bought a wrecked Truck at an auction and the fuse box was smashed. I got another fuse box, but was 'scared' to swap it out. This helps a BUNCH! I'm still a little concerned because the donor truck is a 2009 and mine is a 2013, but the trucks are almost identical in those model years (Tundra), but I'm still a little concerned about different options. For example if the donor didn't have a power rear window and mine does....with the hook up/accessories still work??? do you know? Thanks again! this really helps me out!

      Helping Hands Network if you can get the in cabin fuse box totally exposed then you can unplug all fuses that belong to the cars wiring harness. This should free the fuse box. I fixed mine by doing this. Keep in mind I had to remove the whole dashboard 1st. I’m a beginner, but this did the job for me by swapping my faulty burn damaged fuse box out for one that I got at the pull apart. Let me know how you turn out man.

    • @TimFrentz
      @TimFrentz 3 года назад

      @@jamieking150 there is a physical lip catch or tab or prong keeping it in place on the top that is invisible. Do you have the old one handy to send me a picture of the top back side? That would answer the puzzle. No need to unplug anything. I just need to move it over 2 inches away from the air actuator.

    Is the grease really essential? When working electronics I've never had to grease any electrical parts or wiring harnesses. I'm assuming this is the same just on a larger scale, it has a PCB inside the plastic hub that the fuses and relays go into which I'm used to working on electronics. I've got minimal mechanic knowledge (maintenance and small repairs, essentially) so I didn't know if it was really essential.
    (By not greasing I mean non moving parts 🤣. Obvs if I'm building a small hover craft certain gears or whatever are getting greased)
    We're in the Midwest here with no salt water/oceans at all, just a butt ton of corn lol.
    Edit: I put my own junction box/block in about a week ago and she works ever since! I didn't use the grease (didn't have any)but will add it later.

    • @chiefdenis
      @chiefdenis 2 года назад

      The grease is to prevent corrosion, cars go through incredible conditions, it's just an extra layer of protection because the fuse box is essentially the central nervous system.
      You can also use dielectric grease on battery terminals to prevent corrosion and maintain optimal contact

    • @winstonchaychel
      @winstonchaychel 2 года назад

      @@chiefdenis yup! I did it on there and the battery terminals too, works great now! Couldn't believe the whole time these last few years it was a bad junction block/box in one area. Only this was caused by a previous owner digging at it with the fuse, it was gnarly under the one.

    Okay here’s the issues I have. The fuse box burned out 2 out of 5 harnesses burned too. I got a new box and new connectors.
    Thinking to connect the wires one by one guided by their colors and then tape them.
    My question is, will that be safe enough just “taping” or do I need to get them soldered??
    Thanks in advance for an advice..

  • @themanfromcabowabo1559
    @themanfromcabowabo1559 3 года назад +2

    Those fuses don’t have to be pulled to check them. There’s contact points (tiny holes) for an ohmmeter at the top on each side. You can run through them pretty quick. Hope that helps.
