Wow! Thank you guys so much. I received my TIPM for my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 today and it went it very easy. Once it was in the truck I I did the soft reset and cranked right up. Previously the truck would not start and have a hard starting issue like it was starving for fuel. My daughter finally broke down while pulling out of a parking spot and had to get towed home yesterday. Part showed up today (on time) and she is back up and running. Also, thank you to the guy that I spoke to on the phone twice before I decided to order the part. Very helpful and it gave me confidence to order the part. I am sorry I can't remember his name, but thanks.

I wanted to say thanks for the videos. In hindsight, I think that Chrysler should have included all auto makes, and not just the jeep grand, under the TIPM recall. My 2008 PT Cruiser was doing weird things for the past 3-4 years such as, horn would be intermittent, windows suddenly wouldn't work but then for no reason, they would begin working again, car would absolutely not start some times, unexplained engine shuttering so turn off engine and turn back on and no problem, and other weird things.
When my horn started going off for no reason (not good when behind a big rig trucker), my local repair guy said it's the TIPM and wanted to charge $1,100 to replace. After researching the interweb, I got a crash course in a TIPM. I bought a Dorman re-manufactured before I found your videos.
But I was hearing scary stories about "programming" the TIPM and that only a qualified mechanic should replace. And another small local mom-n-pop shop didn't want to touch it at all! So I eventually came across one of your other TIPM videos. I grounded the battery terminals overnight, removed the old TIPM the next morning, let the battery wires remain grounded for another hour or longer, installed the new TIPM, turned ignition on for 12 seconds, turned off for 12 seconds, and started it up. And it worked!
I noticed the airbag light stayed on but then, I remembered that I should "clear all codes" too. So I did that thing where you turn the ignition on (past the on-on but not to start the engine, as if you were checking for PCM error codes, and that cleared it.
Seriously my friend, you saved me at least $900 and I wanted to thank you!

@@dalvirs6069 It was remanufactured engine control module purchased from PartsGeek.com, but it arrived in brand new condition and was truly "like new." The cost was about $480 and I received a $205 credit back to my credit card after I returned the old core. That was just over 2 years ago and my PT is still running just fine and now has almost 185k miles. Just follow the instruction this fella lines out in his videos (and see some of my install comments) and the new core will work perfectly.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Great helpful vid. After a week of swaping parts and trying to figure out why my Jeep Wrangler was in "limp mode," i finally discovered that mice had chewed through at least one of my wires underneath the TIPM. I had no idea how i was going to get underneath and fix the cable. I learned a lot of helpful tips like how to hard reset and how to properly connect and disconnect from the battery. Your vid saved me (and most if us here) valuable time and money. Thanks again!

@@TIPMRebuilders Mak. I just saw this video. We had issues on my son's 2019 ram 1500. We had the dash errors going off like crazy. Brake light, wipers, abs, everything. We replaced the TIPM and seemed to work fine for about 10 miles then same issue. We can disconnect the ground for 20 minutes and put back on and seems ok for another 10 miles or so then same thing happens. Dash warnings, wipers come on, won't start. Can we now do the 12 Second ignition on? Or the tying the neg and pos together overnight if that doesn't work? Thanks for the video. Well done.

Dude..you are a miracle worker. We have a 2008 Nitro in great shape and working fine until this past Sunday when hubby went to go to the store and BAM nothing worked. Worked fine on Saturday. He's a heavy equipment mechanic and understands electrical stuff. He couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start (no power to anything). He was ready to junk it. I showed him your video and he went out last night and did the thing with the battery leads and left them hooked up over night. He called me this morning on my way to work ECSTATIC because everything works now!!!! He now understands the mechanics of it all, but would have never thought to do that on his own. I don't know how to thank you.

After my soft top leaked on my 2015 jk my lights and wipers would not work. I checked the fuses and they were all fine - so I tried the 12 second hard reset and that did not work - so I pulled the battery cables off exactly like this instruction - left the jeep that way for 3 hours and reconnected. I did another 12 second reset jic and now everything works! Thanks for a great video!

Hi Jake. Definitely try the Hard Reset. Immediately after doing a hard reset, try a 12-second soft reset too. If it doesn't work, call us. I'd be curious to know if 1) wipers are stuck on and headlights too when the wipers are running. There is a specific cause to that combination of symptoms when coupled with dashboard issues (no gauges). If you have all three, call us 818-798-5558. -Jeff

Thanks for the great presentation. You explain things so well, and your not a smart ass like some that seem to need to do that to straighten their confidence..
I need to check the connections on the PCM for my 99 Durango.
It seems the trans relay does not always connect, causing limp mode. The temporary fix seems to be taking that relay out and re cleaning the available seen contacts from the relay side then reinstalling the relay. Also it seems to not work with new relay I bought, however other components will when I switch them around. Somethings not connecting, long term. I was told the wire harness does not pull out on the 99, you have to take the entire harness out of the car, stripping it down becoming a major project.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks, From Joe M.

Hi Joe. Your '99 predates the modern TIPM era. Our expertise drops off pretty quickly pre-2002, so I would not presume to be able to provide you a ton of high-quality advice on the '99 architecture. But perhaps it is a wiring issue between the fuse box and the transmission.

@@TIPMRebuilders Thanks for the come back. All my wiring is good, even pulled up the fuse relay box under hood,"PDC", and everything looks like new. If I ground the number 2 prong on the trans relay, it shifts perfect, leading me to the PCM. I've investigated almost non stop for a week as to what inexpensive scanner to get for this 99, and I found the Autel MaxiLink ML629 to be a useful tool for transmissions and engine, on this model, and mostly all others. Free updates forever we will see how that turns out. The second might be a couple Launch models, but so many of theirs wont even connect to this 99 Dodge. Can't hardly find negative reviews on my model Autel, which should be here today, "Sunday", so I'm a bit excited. I still do some work on the side so it might come in handy in the projects ahead.

The problem with my 2012 Jeep is that although my stock radio works, I have a parasitic draw that I narrowed down to it's fuse. Each night I have to remove that fuse from the TIPM, so that my battery doesn't drain. Would replacing the TIPM fix this problem?

    • @TIPMRebuilders
      @TIPMRebuilders  3 года назад +1

      Hi,
Usually a battery drain issue is not the TIPM unless the internal fuel pump relay is bad which would cause the fuel pump to be on after shutting the vehicle off which would kill the battery. The other component that it could be within the TIPM is a faulty IC which is harder to detect without taking that unit apart and testing internally. In any case please feel free to give us a call if you would like to send that unit in for repair or would like to try a rebuilt unit. Have a good day!

Great video! I hope you can help me. I have a 2020 jeep wrangler with the dreadful aux battery start stop debacle. December 2022 changed the main battery. It was the original so prob time. That lasted until February 5th 2024. Still under warranty changed out. The aux battery without realizing was going out because the start/stop not available showed up on dash cluster. Decided to bypass the aux battery so I would not have to pay $150 bucks so I disconnected the aux battery and attached the positive from aux battery to the positive post of main and left the negative taped up and inside empty aux battery box. This was fine for about 3 weeks and then wife came home and the radiator fan was running full blast with Jeep off and would not stop. Disconnected the negative battery cable to stop it. The temp gauge was normal. The next day hooked the negative cable back and tried to start and that’s when things went haywire. It starts and stops after a couple of seconds. The dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Ran diagnostics and codes P1dd2, p0562, u0101. Engine light, lightning bolt symbol, red security light stays on. Would not turn over. The TPS started giving the ringing sound so I unplugged its connector to stop it. The main was reading under 12 volts at rest. Tested all fuses and relays and nothing was blown or not functioning. Went ahead and put new aux battery in and new Main battery (under warranty) and ran positive back to the aux battery and negative. Attached the main back up and go to start and same thing, starts for couple seconds and stops and would not turn over again. All lights on dash light up and the red dot light under tachometer on again. Solid not blinking. Disconnected the negative cable from main and waited a while and attached it back. Tried to start and same thing. Also the TPS making ring sound again. Going back in the fuse box again after disconnecting the neg cable again to check fuses and relays. Noticed the ADS relay was warm. Realized pulling this or fuse F22 would stop TPS from ringing. The relay still had continuity between 87a and post 30. Also noticed the backlight on dash and shift lights PRND stayed on. Disconnected all cables pos and neg both batteries and here I am. This is over a weeklong period after work trying to figure this out. Sorry for long post, just wanted to give you all details. Please HELP!
