Love this series. I really struggle with Hermes SLGs, especially the wallets. I use my Bastia Coin to carry my purse hanger which fits perfectly inside it. I just wish I'd gone for a color as opposed to black so that it would be easier to find inside my bag. Most of their wallets are too large for me, and the smaller ones don't do as much as smaller pieces from other brands. For example I love the aesthetic of the Kelly card holder, but it's bigger than my LV Zoe wallet which does so much more. I do love Hermes, but this is not an area where they shine for me. xoxo
What a genius way to use your Bastia 🤩 I can completely understand where you're coming from, would you consider giving the Clic card holder a try? I think you'd be pleasantly surprised 🖤
I love my Bern wallet. It's flat! It fits nicely in my medium bags and it doesn't weigh a ton with a large clasp. I purchased Bastia to hold my coins. It isn't possible to go to many brocantes/flea markets and markets, which are usually cash only without coins and the Calvi for the folded bills when I'm going with a very small bag.
I loved this comprehensive video and the breakdowns on these wallets. I recently bought the in the loop wallet in the multicolor and love it. I keep my ID and most used cards in the front and the zipper pouch in the back is good for cash, cards and coins. I can pack around 12 cards easily along with other things and the snap closure is so secure. I have only had it a few weeks but the leather is breaking in nicely and the streamlined wallet packs well in my mini bags with my LV 6 ring key holder. Great slg and the only one from Hermes besides a Kelly wallet that is practical for my needs.
I was obsessed with the Dogon duo but when I finally had it in etoupe togo I didn’t reach for it that much. I don’t know if it’s because of the leather but I find that I use my bearn in noir epsom more and it makes my heart sing. Togo makes me happy too but on my victoria. In slg’s I really think epsom is the way to go. Getting my constance in noir box though😂😅 goodluck to me! But I know I’ll love it anyway. Scratches or scratches😂
As you already know, I got the Clic 12 Wallet weeks ago. Well, it’s undeniably a beautiful object but a little bit ill-conceived. The card slots have the nasty tendency to quickly stretch out, hence the cards aren’t secured at all. It happened more than once that they literally fell on the floor. Maybe I made the mistake to opt for chèvre Mysore leather and should have gone for Epsom instead. Despite being very light weight, I do find this type of leather quite flimsy at least on a SLG. I only use it when I carry my Kelly dépêche pochette, as the wallet doesn’t occupy much space at all. I also tried the Béarn compact following your recommendation but I found the overall design being even more delicate. And i hate everything featuring a leather tab, as it does remind me of a 👅 tongue. I don’t find the 2002 design being outdated but very modern and timeless. I totally agree with you concerning the Kelly wallet: a piece of art. I had seen here and there on the 2nd hand market some Kelly compact wallets. Hermès may have discontinued this model. Have you ever try this model? What are your impressions?
When it comes to SLGs it's either Epsom or nothing!! I'm sorry to hear the card slots are already so worn out, you could consider stacking a couple cards in each slot so they fit more snugly? That's what I had to with my silk lined card holder too 😣 Hermès continues to make the short version of the Kelly wallet, although it can be difficult to find. I'm personally not a fan of the fold out design on such a wide piece 🙈
I felt the Mysore leather was a bit flimsy as well. I’m selling my click 16- unused. The Epsom is way better. But overall, I’m in Meh category on these
Very nice comparison--thank you! The Bearn Wallet and Calvi Cardholder are my favorites. I like the Bastia for little odds and ends, but wouldn't have more than one.
Thanks for this video! My SA is getting the Bearn wallet for me in the color gold. I thought maybe I had made a mistake because I've never paid so much for a wallet before. After watching this video I feel so much better. Thanks!
The Kelly wallet and the Kelly pocket wallet are must haves. 🤩 What leather do you recommend for them? 🤔🧐 I can never choose what one is the best, the only thing I know for sure is I don’t like box because of how shiny it is. 😅😕
Another great ranking video. Love the Kelly Wallet. I simple don’t understand the meaning of a one card holder. Even if you got it like that and only need one credit / debit card, you’ll still want to bring a form of ID, right. [shrugs shoulders] I have the Kelly and Bastia. I’d like to add a Calvi and for the sake of having an older item, I’d like a vintage wallet. I’m not sure which one, however I’d like one in my collection. I appreciate the transparency on the lack of use of some items you own in your collection. Loving the button up on you ~ fabulous as always.
Exactly, what's the point of putting a single card in a case!? 🤯 What a perfect collection you have going, Athena 🤩 If you're looking for a pre-loved piece, you must check out Fashionphile. They always have an amazing selection of Bearn wallets for a fraction of the retail price 🖤
Another my favorite and go to slg is the in-the-loop phone to go (gm size). Because sometimes we just need to bring our phone, ID and a credit card to run errands. I got it in barenia faubourg leather and I absolutely adore it.
I have two pieces I'm very happy with from the "meh"-category: several Bastias and two Silk'In Compact wallets and the matching coin purses (which I use for earphones or as a little catchall). I think it's because in some countries in Europe (according to an about three year old study of the magazine "Capital"), you have to rip the cash out of out dead cold hands, that we prefer wallets with bill (and coin) compartment or coin purses over only card holders 😂. (Capital's study came up with the following order for cash-lover: 1. Germany (that would include me), 2. Luxembourg, 3. Austria; other mentioned European countries were Italy, Greece, Cyprus, and Ireland 😉.) I had ordered online the Clic 12 wallet in Gris Étain with rose gold hardware, which was a true stunner, but a little bit too large for a foldable wallet; the size was somehow in-between, it definitely wasn't a continental wallet, and for a compact, it was pretty big, that's why I sent it back; but definitely a beautiful piece; and I ordered the Béarn Compact wallet in Rose Confetti with Palladium hardware, and I really was in love with this piece, but having seen pictures of used Béarns in lighter colours, the closure buckle was extremely worn down, so I sent this one back, as well - heavy hearted. The Calvi is a "meh"-piece for me personally, because I have about 5-6 cards maximum, so the cards fall out of this one, the cash would have to be folded multiple times to fit in (it's a rarely used item in my collection; I would consider a Calvi Duo though, which is not available at the moment); and I found one cardholder I never heard a review of, the Guernesey Cardholder, which has three compartments (in each, you could put in two cards without stretching it out to much); this one is a really nice size for me 😊. I've considered the Béarn Combiné wallet, but this time not in a lighter colour, but maybe in Gris Étain, if available 😊. The Kelly (continental) wallet I would love, but I already have two adorable continental wallets, so I think as long as I don't plan on selling them, there's not really a good reason to invest in third full-size wallet at this moment. But it's really beautiful 😍! 🧡😘🧡 Edit: didn't notice that I was writing a novel about my SLGs, sorry 😂😉!
I’m not a big SLG person but you forgot my beloved Azap mini wallets. I now have 4 and they are perfect if you don’t need to carry a lot. Completely understated and boring like me. And you also left out the mini Roulis wallet. Glad I started small because what a nightmare to use. That flap would do my head in. Another interesting idea for a video is the petit H collection. Some really interesting pieces. Would love your thoughts.
I use my bastia as a mask holder in my bag! I got it specifically for this reason, so it never held coins. It's the perfect size to fold a mask into so the mask does not get gross while not in use!
Hi. Can you do a video on the Calvi and go over the different leathers? Especially how they hold up over time? I have Epsom… and considered Mysore but it looks like it stretches easily (noticed can see the snap imprints from. the outside at the right angle) and you get an imprint of the cards. There is also evercolor calfskin and the chamkila goatskin which seem to be newer offerings (as far as I know). Sorry if you’ve already done a video on this
I am tempted by the kelly wallet but put off by the protruding turn lock. How much does it protrude? Guessing it wouldn’t fit in a C18? Fantastic video! I have 2 calvis , which I love Also - is there a men’s SLG range or is this the full colllection? Looking for a card holder for my husband but he doesn’t like the calvi so thinking of alternatives
No, unfortunately the one downfall of the Kelly wallets is that they're not mini bag-friendly 😣 You could try the MC² Euclide or the Citizen Twill card holders for your husband 🖤
another amazing video GPS! I use a compact/mini in the loop wallet on a daily basis as i only carry two cards out with me and i need the zip compartment to hold keys. plus it’s super cute 🤍 may get a bearn compact wallet some day as my larger wallet which is currently a chanel caviar compact.

I am GPS I barely hear about them! I’m surprised it’s not more popular. I agree with you about the Bastia because I don’t have much use for it seeing that I rarely ever carry coins anymore, but the duo is good for the occasionally time I do but can also carry my cards in the same product! I really feel that it’s such a great design!
