🇨🇵 I love this kind of videos. Everybody has to educate himself. It's not enough to say "I like Hermès because of the history and craftsmanship". You have to understand the pricing, the time it takes to train new artisans and to make a bag, the shortages worldwide... Artisan work especially in the luxury business is not fast fashion. Customers have to be patient in order to buy the best. We hear a lot of conspiracies about Hermès, especially the one about scarcity. France has 67 millions citizens. Most of the young adults go to the college/university to become well educated workers like IT, engineer, banker, ... So, it's quite hard to find people who want AND are able to become artisans. And you heard from Marie that, at the end of the long trainee time, there's a hard selection. The fewest succeed. The part if the video I love the most is the explanation of what is artisanship, heritage, transfer of know-how, pride resulting from perfect work, ... Artisanship is timeless. It has nothing to do with buying a Hermès bag just to show off. I'm sure that we all have new questions about this topic. Your guest recommended to put a sort of bag organizer inside the bag but didn't mention a specific one (brand, quality, material, ...). Do you know the answer? Thank you for this special video. I hope to see more in the future.👍
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. 🖤 really appreciate it. Also, in one of the upcoming videos, I show the inside of her bag, but I believe it was more of a soft zipper pouch.
I have to say that this is the best video I have watched regards Hermès bags. This lady is so interesting. I wish you would have asked how much she was paid to do her job as an artisan. Bags sell for a lot of money and they wouldn’t exist if not for skilled people like her. I hope she was paid very well. She certainly deserves every penny she made.
Fascinating! I love that basically she's saying, enjoy our bags. Don't worry about mini scratches. It's still beautiful. 🙂 I love the pride this artisan still has! 💗
This has to be my fav RUclips Video of all time. Although I know most of the things she spoke of from the purse forum and my fellow Hermes collector friends, it was fascinating to hear from her as well. I also enjoyed hearing specifics regarding the training and other aspects of becoming an artisan for H. WHat goe sinto making a shiny croc bag was jaw dropping!! Please please please do more videos with her!!! I am so suprised CHEVRE leather was not brought up as a favorite! It is hands down my favorite as it provides the best of all Hermes worlds in one leather.... smoothe, slight sheen, rigid shape, sturdy and hearty. Again, thank you so much for doing this video dear xoxxo
Aww so happy to hear that! Thank you for your thoughtful comment 🖤 There will def be a Part 2 video maybe even Part 3 from this convo. And, I’ll see if we can do more fun collabs. Appreciate you watching and commenting! And completely agree Chèvre is so stunning
Juliet, I absolutely love this video!!! Just one suggestion for hopefully future interviews. Please, let Maria talk! As any non-native English speaker she isn’t fast as you. It feels that you interrupted her a lot and sometimes put your spin on the topic. I understand that you’re very passionate about the subject; so don’t take it as a critique. 🤗😘
Thank you! 🖤 I'll try to speak more slowly next time :) It was meant to be more of a conversation, so I'll definitely still be reacting to what Marie says and trying to summarize as I think it's beneficial. But, of course, appreciate/will keep in mind your input!
Absolutely loved this video and it’s so nice to learn that the artisans have personal connections with each piece they make. Makes me appreciate and love their bags even more! And totally agreed that I don’t find the need to ‘QC’ the bags from Hermes unlike other luxury houses, they’re absolutely perfect 🥰
What a great conversation! I love that Mademoiselle M is such a treasure trove of knowledge and skill. As an equestrian, I have a great deal of experience cleaning leather on saddles and bridles, and maintaining the integrity of the leather after years and years of use. I would love to hear her talk about the equestrian heritage of Hermès and the artisans' work on the company's equestrian products. An Hermès saddle is the sine qua non for those of us who actually ride horses and covet H equestrian items. I also loved your discussion of the variety of the different leathers and the bags that they best suit. I myself have bags and accessories in Clemence, Togo, Vache Naturale, Amazonia, Chamonix, Chevre Mysore, and Barenia, and a wallet in Epsom. And I absolutely adore and covet your Tadelakt bag! ❤️ Looking forward to future parts of this video!
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment 🖤 equestrian is a great topic suggestion. I’ll definitely bring this up with Marie next time I see her. And love your collection as well! So beautiful
This is soo wonderful! I got my first store-fresh birkin bag last year, Bleu nuit matte alligator B25 and i love it even more now knowing that the artisan knew it eventually went to me! thank you thank you for this, knowing about the different leathers made me think twice about my wishlist!
The bags I feel like have a life, and same goes for shoes. They go from pristine to really covered in patina and telling a story to the last stage where it’s really just the end of the life od the bag. Hermes bags last a century. I am don’t own any items, but do have friends who do have some very very old Hermes pieces and they are still very usable (we are taking 40 years old).
Just purchased the mini bag *gtdupe* in black last week! Seeing your video makes me even more excited and sure that I made the right choice! Thanks so much
What a great video! I loved hearing the artisans perspective. Especially about when they make the SO for their clients. That they actually see where it is going and think about that particular client. Well done Juliet! ♥️♥️♥️
This was such an informative video. I’ve always been interested in the artisan’s perspective. She was such a wonderful guest and detailed the process so well. Love your bags, they are beautiful. ❤️
Thank you for such an interesting and informative presentation with Marie and with your beautiful bags. ❤️ 💗 I have a question, if you don’t mind asking Marie, maybe in your next interview with her. In your show, Marie was showing her beautiful hand stitchings. On a Hermes bag, how to tell if the stitches are done by hand stitching, or hand made with sewing machine? Are all slanted/ saddle stitches done by hand stitchings, or they could also be done by sewing machine with especial needles at Hermès workshop?
LOVED this video!!! It’s so intriguing to hear the artisan’s perspective and experience and we all learned so much from this! As a H lover and collector, I learned more about the craftsmanship, quality, and care behind these bags than any other video on YT. Looking forward to part two. Thank you!
Absolutely LOVE this video!!! Thank you so much to do collab with Marie😊 My question is: Do they need a more experienced artisan to make a special order bag? Does it take longer to get it done than regular leather? Will it be harder to make a small bag like Mini Kelly than a bigger bag? Thank you Juliet 😘
I wonder what Hermès does with the practice Kelly's that are made. I am more than certain they do not put those in the stores even if they pass inspection wondering if they ever sell those at a discount or if they go to Preloved sites or what's the deal?
that was very interesting. first time I see an artisan. very lovely Marie. I wanted to cry on a moment when she met a bag of her make. so touching. if you have a second chance please ask about routine at the workshop. how they are told to make this or this bag, do they compete between artisans and how, do they compete for better supply or for more interesting bags, do they do a few bags of the same kind in a row or rotate all the time, can it get boring, what if some piece of leather is spoiled, what is some expensive piece is spoiled, can a one get finance fine for ruining something valuable there?
Loved this video so much! Thank you for making it. Made me appreciate my first Hermes bag, which was a Constance 24 epsom noir with gold hardware so much more!
I have a crocodile Sac Dog and will be receiving a burgundy crocodile Constance. What is recommended for croc leather care? Any lotions or humidity cautions or anything?
I was under the impression that Epsom really in the same league of leather as say chevre. Epsom is a stamped skin so I heard it can be lower quality skin. Is this accurate or no?
I love this video! This was so informative. I am passionate about the leathers and craftsmanship at Hermes, so it is so interesting to hear from a former artisan directly. I heard that sometimes they have craftsman in house at the Beverly Hills and New York stores. Here in the Vegas stores we do not have those types of events yet, but I hope to attend one someday.
Love love loved this video!!!! Noticed myself smiling several times thru out the video. So interesting to actually hear one artisan talking about this and not just reading it somewhere. Did she make the gold birkin herself? Can´t see if there is a shooting star. Thank you soooo much!
Aw thank you! 🖤 yes! She made several bags for herself and to be revealed in the upcoming parts (potentially Part 2 or 3) def stay tuned. Also, I’ll probably show a sneak peak on my Tik Tok too
Agreed one of the best videos of all time! What a fabulous backstory on this iconic brand. Thank you for such an organized presentation! I have one pre-loved Kelly and I’m considering a second. Now I’m over the top one take one.
Very informative and lovely video. Thanks for doing this. It would be cool to know her background and experience with handbags before Hermes to kinda get a feel of the level of expertise Hermes is looking for in their potential artisans.

Thanks for this great video! I have a question, where is the artisan stamp located on the bags? I know that on hermes dinnerware, there's a stamp on the back of the plates or cups. (So far I've seen an airplane, tulips, bow ties etc)

I wonder if she uses a Fourbi inside her bags... i find those work the best and do not affect the shapes of the bags negatively.
if the leather arts make a scratch or a mistake, are they penalized and charged for it?
