Hey Mel I am more interested in the Picotin and the Victoria (I personally don’t like the Kelly or Birkin) is there a list or a procedure for those bags too? Or can I just walk in? I have a long family purchase history at Hermes but not an individual one...thanks!
Wait, did I just hear that Marianne has only used Hermes bags ever since she got her very first Hermes bag? So she wears an Hermes bag every single day? Wow! 🤩 🤩 🤩 She is a true expert.
That is correct my dear. Hence why her IG account is called @orangedaily very fitting! She is a wealth of knowledge, it was soooo fun chatting to her (we spoke for hours), the video was actually pretty challenging to edit lol
Best Hermes video I’ve watched ever. Her passion for the brand made me appreciate the beauty and quality to a level that has neutralised any prejudice I have of the game.
That 30 year bag is in better condition that some 30 year old people. Damn she takes care of her bags. But as expensive as they are u should properly care for them.
This lady is a wealth of information. I am so glad that she debunked that myth about epsom leather. My SA also told me that epsom scratches can absolutely be repaired. She advised that should I have questions in the future to ask the leather specialists at my local boutique instead of watching videos by people who are not experts (as I clearly am not!), are likely not even serious collectors and probably have only a few years of experience buying the brand. She really schooled me!!!
I desagree with Marianne’s answer on how to get a Birkin or Kelly. I bought my Birkin in Deauville (France), one year ago, and I hadn’t purchase anything from Hermès before. I just walked into the store actually looking for a Bastia coin purse, had a lovely chat with the sales associate, told her I had always wanted a Birkin. She told me « oh, then I have something to show you ». I waited like 5 minutes and she came back with a big orange box, she told me it had just arrived. And that’s how I got my first Hermès bag !
Yes the minute she answered that question i noticed even Mel has a bigger knowledge than her, so I also disagree Mel raise her as Hermes expert.. Mel seems much more up to date with knowledge.
That’s absolutely NOT the way it works for the most part though hun. There’s no chance here in the US. I’ve heard in the smaller European countries people have had incredible luck with being offered highly sought after bags, but it will not happen in most parts of the world sadly.
Mary Poppins yes i ve heard it s a very Long waiting list (very strict) for example in Germany as a large country ... then Czech Republic as a smaller country with a low ratio of wealthy tourists compared to Germany or Switzerland as a neighbouring country Mel herself proved you can walk in with zero history and be offered .. but it s really not how it typically works... I ve heard it sometime works for people covered in van clef and Cartier jewellery 😂😂
I really enjoyed this video. I know for a fact that I could never ever own an Hermes bag but I love learning things about the brand and their bags. This is so informative and fascinating. And I super adore Marianne, such an elegant and lovely lady. Thanks for sharing this, Mel. You're smart, elegant and timeless.
I love how Marianne appreciates the craft and art and history of these pieces. How nice to see such an approach, unlike all those influencers who just want to get more and more of those status symbols, and don't even know what they're buying...
Can’t wait to watch! I went to an Hermes artisan exhibit in Sydney many years ago and they walked you through how they produce every item. It really made me love the dedication to the product. I am not someone that would buy the bags, well at this point in my life, but the silks, methods and techniques were so impressive!
This was fantastic! 45 minutes went nowhere. Marianne is a gold mine of information and so elegant. I agree with her about the box leather. I have heard it is fussy to care for but so is lambskin and people buy that in huge numbers. I have looked at so many photos of vintage Kellys online and the modern leathers are pretty and practical but I keep going back to the box leather. It’s the original Kelly leather and has so much history attached to it and it’s so luxurious looking.
Mel I have loved this video so much I have watched it twice and still feel disappointed that it has ended!🤣 It was the most wonderful and absolutely fascinating video I have ever seen. I love the passion you both share for Hermes and I couldn't stop smiling the entire duration. It was fabulous. I had a glass of wine and felt like I was participating in a conversation with friends! Loved all the information shared and my love for Hermes has only been deepened by this video. Thank you so much for sharing. It was wonderful. ❤️
I love Marianne’s classic style, her outfit and her bags, her hair, and the way she speaks and move. Very clean, so chic and so elegant. It doesn’t scream brands, but it’s just so classic chic.
Oh Mel what an amazing video. Two wonderful women together sharing their passion of Hermes with the world. I could watch this over and over again. What an amazing experience for you to have. Something you will remember for ever. Enjoy your gorgeous Hermes and I can't wait to see what you buy next. Stay safe. Much love, Jenni XX
I have been offline for a little bit, so I still have a lot of videos of you that I can watch. Nothing better than this! This video is insane, she is so elegant and she has so much knowledge, its crazy! Thank you so much for this Mel. 💕
Oh my goodness, I actually put off watching this video until I could find a time to relax and fully enjoy it knowing how long it was. But wow, this did not feel like 42 mins at all! It felt like we were all with you having a girls chat :) She's so lovely to listen to and so interesting to hear her stories and experiences and just how much joy she finds in Hermes. Something about the French accented English, I love! I find it so endearing. Thanks so much for sharing your interview with her!
I’m so glad I watched this. Now I know what HAC came first before Birkin! On a side note, it really depends on which boutique you walked into and whom you happen to be talking to. My mom, sis, and I walked into a flagship. We happen to talk to the manager of the store. Next thing you know, she brought out a croc Constance in black as well as an ostrich Constance in pink. Plus kelly backpack among other bags! Needless to say my sister and mom was in bag heaven and ended up buying three or four bags that day.
What a compliment! Thank you so much Erika! I’m so happy you loved it so much! It was a big challenge to edit this but at the same time I really want to be able to share this information with you guys in a casual and fun manner xx
Love that a chic French woman isn’t getting stuck in it has to be a Hermes Twilly on a Hermes bag, Gucci Twilly on a Gucci bag. It doesn’t matter if the colourway and style works with the bag. It just has to look good.
Thanks for sharing, Mel! Marianne is a wealth of knowledge! 🙌 I can’t believe she was offered 5 exotic Birkin 25s at once 😱 I also love her vintage bags with the gold initials! 💖
Marian has discovered hot water... all designers keep a catalog of designs and all they do is recycle them over and over in different fabrics, materials and colors. This is what they do.
I just love this video. So much great information, I have many Kelly’s and Birkin bags and I love them each for different reasons. They each are pieces of artwork. Thanks very much for sharing your incredible knowledge and collection 😎❤️😎
Wow that black croc Kelly is a new dream of mine. Last year I came across a vintage box Kelly with my initials I should have grabbed it but I had never seen one before so I was nervous that it was fake. I just received my first Kelly and am waiting for my 7rp insert, so exciting. Thank you for sharing you passions for the brand. I am often torn bc the bags are so much money and it’s only a bag but I’m proud to wear it bc of it’s heritage.
My pleasure lovely! So glad you found it so interesting! It was such a good chat but it got super challenging for me to edit as we talked way too much lol XX
Wow, this was such an amazing video. Marianne is absolutely lovely and Mel, you did a great job presenting us all with this very interesting and educational info. Thank you! 💕
Oh my, I just loved this video! Your interaction with Marian and your shared love and enthusiasm just oozed out through the screen. I loved it. I have such a short attention span, but I stayed from beginning to end. You're both fabulous. I hope you invite Marian again. I'd love to learn more about the history and the making of the handbags. Well done and thank you. 😊
Hi Mel. This is a great video. No wonder you kept it for your 4-year anniversary. I heard stories like the offer of 5 bags. As long as you got money, you can get anything from Hermès stores in China. There are many Chinese bloggers sharing this information online.
I can't get over what I just witnessed here. These bags are ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I've never knew of such a thing. I'm totally in shock with the condition and beauty of them. The wealth of knowledge MaryAnn shared. I'm so grateful Mel and for bringing such an Amazing video to us. You NEVER fail. Interesting to see how you will out do this one doll. Good Luck!!!😘😘😘😘💕
Could not believe that I sat through 42 minutes of watching 2 lovely ladies talking about Hermes and handbags but could have watched for another 42 minutes. Will have to stop by Hermes boutique here in Houston and check their men's collection. Great video.
Thanks Mel for such a great video! I learned so much about the brand! Great interview w/ Marianne! Timeless, elegant and smart describes you and Marianne perfectly!
I loved this video! Seeing the beautiful Hermes bags and listening to Marianne talk about her experiences was so interesting! You have a future in interviewing Mel! Great job 💕💕
Aww your are too kind my dear! It’s fun chatting to people who have the same passion as you and we chatted for literally hours! So glad you enjoyed it, I wasn’t sure if you guys might think this interview format was too long? Xx
Woah i love this video. Thank you for your efforts. I love handbags. But i like your channel more than anyone else, because it’s not just only about unboxing handbags but i get to learn so much about the brand history etc... it shows your real commitment and love.
That video was amazing Mel. I was absolutely entranced. That Croc Kelly 🥰 and the box leather 🥰. Would love to see her entire collection. I bet they all look brand new! ❤️❤️
I really enjoyed this video! I’m not surprised she is as elegant and fabulous as her L’serts. I also promptly removed my bags from the boxes to store them. Thank you for a wonderful behind the scenes look. ☺️
out of all the four vloggers that i’ve watched that collects bag, you are the most fun to watch so far.. you have the most interesting content and educational too! thank you.. 😍
I especially like that the shoulder strap of that ostrich bag doesn't show even when it is worn in the crook of the arm or carried by the short handle. I also love the vintage watches and that silver bracelet with the bag-charms. So lovely.
This is my fav video on your channel! I love that her collection has pre-owned pieces, they look even better than the new ones we stress over in the stores, Every bag becomes pre owned the second we walk out of the store......
Such an informative video Mel. Thank you so much for doing this for us. I didn’t realised how time went by. Great video. By the way the restrictions are getting tighter again in vic so stay safe Mel.
Just like me my first Hermes Piece was a scarf - my Dad bought them for my mum (back then available on board of airplanes), I loved them and got my first when I was 14! And up till today I also hand them items to repair
I feel like it’s also interesting to note the reason why the Birkin bag took inspiration so much from the HAC, was made because Jane Birkin’s then partner Serge Gainsbourg carried around an HAC, and Jane Birkin mentioned it to Mr. Dumas that they should do a similar bag like that but smaller. Technically it all comes around to Serge Gainsbourg for using the HAC so much.
Enjoyed this interview, thanks! I have the same Kelly ostrich, except mine is size 28 from 1997! The quality is amazing!! Wanted to confirm Marianne's answer for her Hermes travel bag of choice??
40:53 literally my jaw *dropped* I mean Ive seen some people on IG posting photos of being offered many croc lady diors, but for hermes? never, not even hear of even been able to buy all of them!!!!
Love this video, love all the Hermès information. I have to store mine in their boxes as I don’t have space to put them stood up. I also have 3 cats that like to ruffle through dustbags!!!
OMG! Mel, this is the best video to interview the special person; she is an Authenticator! Marianne is so elegant and so do you! Love your outfit as well. Thank you for sharing this video, learned so much from it. From: Jeff (Singapore). :)
This was so fun to watch. I saw this video a month or so ago, but keep forgetting to comment. Now that I am looking for my first Hermes bag I am reminded. I loved how the two of you interact and the stories!
@@MelinMelbourne ❤❤❤ Thanks for replying me back!! I don't own any brand name items but LOVE watching your videos! Love how professional and humble you are 🧡🧡🧡
Dear Mel, I couldn’t hear her answer when u asked her what’s her favorite bag for travel, minute 38:07 😭 I rewatched it a couple of time but I failed to hear it, could you please tell us what it is?
I researched heaps before getting mine and also tried some others too. Hands down 7rp for hermes Bags are the best lovely! What colors are you thinking for what bags? Cc
Mel in Melbourne omg I can’t believe you saw my comment. For colours I’m thinking about the blanc for my dark blue bag to get the contrast and brighten things up and the green one you showed to match my forest green one😀
A bright different colour insert is an absolute must that you should factor into the expense of buying a quality bag. And I love wrapping the handles - ageing of leather can be lovely but sticky sweat stained handles not so much lol.

Very gorgeous and durable indeed... bt im against animal cruelty.. bt wud love any other ones without using animal skin.
Omg, that crocodile kelly was so beautiful and the gold initials made it even more special 😍
Wasn’t it stunning? I would love a vintage croc Kelly! 🖤🖤🖤
I also thought that the two initials looked more pleasing than the one with three initials on the bag, which is unusual.

Don’t like Epsom, box all the way.
Enjoyed this interview, thanks! I have the same Kelly ostrich, except mine is size 28 from 1997! The quality is amazing!! Wanted to confirm Marianne's answer for her Hermes travel bag of choice??
Hermes is very classy and elegant. I don't have money for luxury items, but I still love watching those type of videos!❤️
40:53 literally my jaw *dropped* I mean Ive seen some people on IG posting photos of being offered many croc lady diors, but for hermes? never, not even hear of even been able to buy all of them!!!!
I know right? Told it was juicy lol You obviously saw my reaction which was the same as yours! 😱❤️
@@MelinMelbourne Yes indeed!🤣🤣
The woman is a Hermes authenticator right? And a French national. Loyal to the brand. Why wouldn't they?
Her voice. I can listen to her all day.
So true..i scratch my epsom constance..very long scratch.came back Brandnew again from hermes spa..

When you said this vdo is so long I was like nooooo it's only 42 mins! I hope it's 2 hours long! Such a great interview ❤
Oh really? Only 42 mins? I was worried it was too long already. Lol On that day we actually chatted for hours. I’m so happy you enjoyed it so much xx
She said the mini Evelyn bag or Evelyne Tpm :)
Your channel is definitely such a pleasant informational source for all fashion lovers.Thank you, for this video.
Which color of insert would you recommend for mini Evelyne in taupe, Mel?
The energy and the vibes in this room are just beautiful. Amazing video thank you for sharing.😊💗
This was such a great video. Your guest is do gracious. Thx dear for sharing ❤️
Oh my, its a pleasure to listen to Marianne. Such a sweet accent, Love it!!
I know right? I love her accent! ❤️
Thank you Mel for this special video. It educates someone new like me about Hermes.
I think the word is “off-putting”. 😌 For those who appreciates quality and artisan-ship but really is not into the “status” per se.
The house was so beautiful 😍 I loved the colours of the inserts and will def be getting some for my bags 😀
I totally agree Alexandra xx
Omg, mel i love videos like this And love the conversation, i got educated to day. Thank you very much ❤️🥰☺️🤩
I have an hermes shoulder bag from 1980. I dont know the name. It is raw leather on inside. Where could I send pic to see what it is called?
