HELL YEAH! :D Love hearing you guys in the hyper-pop sonosphere - you guys crush that sound! So much dopamine flowing right now! :D Now I wanna hear you do a song that transitions through: Acapella --> Acoustic --> Rock --> Psychedelic Rock --> Psychedelic/Prog Metal --> Hyper-pop --> then reverses all the way back through each genre to acapella. Themes: Awakening / Expanding consciousness / Transcendence / Becoming one with the universe / Euphoria, ecstasy, joy, bliss That's my song challenge for you. It's wildly ambitious, but you guys are 100% the men for the job. Rob and Andrew, you would annihilate this and it would be insane and beautiful to watch. Much love xox
@@althejazzman They've all worked the same since the first. Sound pushed through a tube, tube sends the sound into your mouth, shape the sound with your mouth, and record it with a mic.
its so funny seeing someone interpret this art who doesnt seem to have hyperpop in their musical vocabulary cuz i know if it were me i'd be right there with the breakbeats and supersaws
Honestly I'm still not quite sure what makes hyperpop hyperpop, I keep thinking it (not theirs, but actual hyperpop) sounds like happy hardcore but with vocals ..maybe I'm a lil too old (BTW it's fun seeing you high up in the comments, I know Mapble haha)
I still can't believe I made a top comment on one of your videos a couple years ago saying I would watch an entire series of you two just messing around, and now I regularly get to watch Sonic Boom videos. Not saying I'm responsible lol, but it feels like serendipity in its highest form. My wish came true and it makes me stoked every time!!
I love how creative and fun these cover art challenges are. You both were so focused and immediately into Flippin’ Out and the process. A joy to watch and a great result!
This idea would make an incredible series if you just kept going and got a bunch of artists and musicians playing telephone. Make a song, make artwork for it, make a new song for the artwork, make artwork for the new song, make a new song for the new artwork etc.
Oh wow, for some reason, Sonic Boom's version of the album art's song reminded me of, like, an opening theme to a Sonic the Hedgehog game, while the original artist's song feels more like the ending theme for that game. This is so cool! 😁👍
"Sonic Flip (ソニックフリップ Sonikku Furippu) is a 2012 platform game published by Sega for the Nintendo Wii U. The plot follows Sonic as he attempts to stop his nemesis Doctor Eggman from flipping Earth's magnetic fields, causing immense disaster on the planet. Doctor Eggman, after collecting the Chaos emeralds with the help of his Badnik Metal Sonic, uses them to power an immense electromagnet outside Earth's orbit. Due to Sonic's connection to the Emeralds, the magnet has the unforeseen side-effect of causing Sonic to be able to magnetize himself, flipping upside down and running on ceilings and walls"
@@Peronioz “Interesting take on _Sonic Flip!_ It's worth noting that this game is actually based on an unreleased sequel to _Sonic Spinball._ The flipping mechanics draw inspiration from the pinball elements.” 😊
The original song sounds like a perfect opening song for a girl anime and you guys' song sounds like a very well written ad song for that cell phone. Great job!
4:11 this is my favorite moment of making music: someone throws out a silly idea then it comes together on the first try and everyone instantly knows that's it
I love the more documentarian-style to this video. The questions to Rob while Andrew is working on stuff and vice-versa, the stories, etc. Awesome video! I hope future episodes follow this style.
Yeah right! I was surprised enough that they did one at the end of September (since they didn't last year), but then to see they dropped one in OCTOBER TOO?! Absolutely love it!
Definitely Thank-God-It's-Saturday-Morning music. You guys were great, and I think that your interpretation was pretty close. We need to hear more of Mimi, too.
Andrew, I recently found some old Songs to Wear Pants to CD's I picked up from your gig in Calgary 10 years ago and I'm so glad to see SO MUCH MORE WORK OMG! Really looking forward to catching up, man. Your sounds are an instant pep-rally for the soul.
Always nothin' but bangers, fellas! That notion towards the end about touring with an artist, but only having one song that fits the bill made me think of a possibly interesting premise. Like what if it's "an artist asked us to open for them on tour, can we make a set to match their style??" 😂
this is SO FUN. both the music and the process, as always! man, every time i see a sonic boom video, i'm just.. it's such a good reminder how fun the creation process can be.
One of these days theyre gonna get modular synth in a random instrument challenge and Andrew is gonna make the most beautiful patch ever heard by the likes of humanity... just to sing about rubber duckies trying to find a new bath or something
Reposting again in hopes either of you see this: I kindly request that you guys try an experiment. #1. Each of you plays the same instrument - so you both share drum duties, guitar, bass, synth, etc. - then flip flop different sections of the song in the final recording. The more sections the better. You can end up with two (or many) different versions of the song. For example, if Rob is (A) and Andrew is (B) Then you could take the same performance but produce 2 different mixes by printing ABABABAB verses BABABABA. #2. Come up with a set tempo, key, set chord progressions, and song structure beforehand. Then break apart (separate rooms) write according to the perameters given and at the end, mix and mash the songs together. You can either overlap them to hear new harmonies or you can flip flop, Andrew section transitions into Rob section transitions back into Andrew and so on. Fun stuff gentlemen.
Needed this after a rough day. This is super cool, thanks for sharing, and props to all the artists involved! Excited to see this become a tradition to do each season 👀 it's a good episode type
this sort of bubble gum, internet-core, hyper-pop stuff was a phases of mine a wile back, and dear god this is one of the better examples I've heard in a while. Solid work!
