Sonic Boom is our new show where we'll be doing a musical exploration or challenge every other Saturday! Leave a comment and let us know what you think :)
my 2 favorite musical channels on youtube combine every saturday? count me in! i want to see you go to the giant organ cathedral with the MIDI input Rob went to a while back. I think you could do some insane things with it
I was so sure you were going to go through all the effort to make a new song only to end up with pink Floyd's "money". I'm a little disappointed. Although also happy that you are actually starting a new show and this wasn't an April fools?
@@evil1st Not just that, but ribbon mics tend to be extremely fragile (well the ribbon inside to be specific). You could destroy one by sneezing onto it 😂
@@leowalless9328 as much as musicians want to "experiment" or "try stuff out", it's not fun being the engineer that has to sit through that. Imho, studio is the place for capturing performances. You should come practiced and prepared.
This is cause of the ribbon can break if you move it too fast. Often they will come with 'socks' so you can move them safely and not worry about the 'wind' breaking them.
I have to say the audio engineering for the theme song is insane (ofc, its expensive af). All these sounds put together should sound terrible but damn the engineering is awesome.
I feel like the REAL money here would have to go to the audio engineer for mixing ALL of this down. Also, Kyah out here with the Minion vibe but also like...ROCKING it?? That's awesome.
There are no words to describe how happy I am to see this. The First of October is one of my favorite things on the internet, so I'm super excited to see more of what you two will make!
I'm so sad this show isn't real... wait...is it real? I don't know, but I'm going to assume it isn't so I don't get my hopes up. A show with Andrew and Rob every other week would be so amazing!! Edit: Yes, I am pretty sure the show is actually happening and I am VERY excited!
I absolutely love how Rob is always pointing stuff out because he's aware that not everyone knows every single aspect of the stuff that happens. Love you, Rob.
I think it would be very cool to have a different combination of instruments playing the theme song everytime it is used in the series, or maybe it could be used to indicate a new chapter inside an episode. You probably have already recorded and edited multiple episodes so my idea is probably useless anyway, but I really like this first episode !
Rob’s excitement about recording all those percussion parts is exactly how it would be if I were invited to record somewhere. Also, I gotta get my hands on one of those pipe things that Andrew played after the electric kazoo.
when they said we're starting a new show together: sonic boom, I thought they meant they're gonna watch Sonic Boom the animated series together and I was like weird flex but
should have went inside a freshly constructed house that hasnt been carpteded or furnished and played accoustic instruments inside it, so you could include the cost of the house.
I recognize that control room. Those main farfield monitors are unbelievable with zero distortion at insane volumes, and that piano is STUNNING in person.
These shenanigans are on point. That studio is also nuts. Excited! EDIT: Now I'm wondering if the show is an April fools joke. This video was super fun though!
Yall are goober for this. But from the most genuine spot of my heart, congrats to you guys.its rare In this world when someone does what they truly love and become this level of successful. I'm sure I speak for a lot of us but not only have you done a good job achieving your success bug alor of ysowe our knowledge of a sound design to you. Ide say at least 60% of what I've learned you dished out. Thanks Andrew.
There's all this great, unobtainable gear, ribbons twice my age, 70s fender bass and even The Pipe, in that heavenly room and the guitar dude grabs is a Rob Scallon sig. 😂😂😂😂😂
How can I express this - my 18 year best friend cat Los Bujanos just died moment ago from kidney failure and old age - and I am in absolutely deep darkness about his passing away - but for my morbid curiosity about The Most Expensive Sound on planet Earth - I feel positive again - TOTAL HAIL FROM FINLAND and PEACE + LOVE + remember to IMPROVISE in your life before it already too late
"We gotta get this in drop D" "Is that a ukulele?" Yeah, they don't work like that hahaha I'm sensing the fear of gear owners having stuff damaged by excited, manic patrons hehehe.
Man spends several months faking a mission to space, released as a tv serial, all to promote a new album, but yet I somehow managed to be surprised that the two of you managed to afford a house band. Great job keeping it real guys
It was so crazy and pointless, but deep down - it reminded me that music is all about having fun and just farting out ideas to get creative. I forget about it sometimes, since composing is my job. I'm happy that I've seen this video, inspired me a lot :) Thanks guys.
I'm going to practice and learn until I can go: "Hmmm, ah yes! beedoobeedaaaboomboombiddybipbiddydada boom". And then immediately pick up whatever instrument I have at hand and play that mouth improv :D
Saw the title, heard you mention the name of this scenario is called "sonic boom" and my first assumption was that you guys were gonna pay to have a jet pilot do a low super sonic pass to record the sonic boom. Idk if that would count as the "most expensive" sound, but I feel like it would have been close :P
Sonic Boom is our new show where we'll be doing a musical exploration or challenge every other Saturday!
Leave a comment and let us know what you think :)
You and Rob have such a wholesome friendship and always drive each other to new heights of creativity. Can’t wait for future episodes!
Love that You Will be in constant colab ❤

Really or just Aprill Fools?
I love how the engineer rushed into the room as soon as Rob touched the ribbon. A man with priorities
that mic is probably the most expensive thing in the room its a priceless piece of music history 😂
@@evil1st Not just that, but ribbon mics tend to be extremely fragile (well the ribbon inside to be specific). You could destroy one by sneezing onto it 😂

Honestly, Andrew and Rob being their own house band is the best joke.
🤣🤣🤣
I don't know what you're talking about, those guys had a totally different colour palette to Andrew and Rob.
Wait, what?
I love the engineer's reaction to running the Harpejjis through everything.
"Yeeaaah, that really wouldn't-"
MORE EXPENSIVE THO
Ruccia is fantastic. I'm very happy he's along with them for this.
I feel bad for whoever had to mix that😂
I was thinking the same thing. My anxiety was so high 😣 you sure you wanna add more????
lol just put it all very very very low but anyways they probably got paid more than me so I wouldn’t
i'd say it was more than likely andrew mixing it lol
it wasnt@@rattttooooo
This has Rob Cantor's "high-effort shitpost" energy and I'm all for it
Yeah, high-effort shitpost on first of April... Marvin's marvelous mechanical museum!
rob cantor!! i love tally hall!!
TALLY HALL REFERENC?!?!?
Oh hello, profile picture buddy.
@@AJRead2 yooooo
It’s a good day when we get Andrew and Rob together in a video again 😭 already excited for this years First of October
yeah, April 1st is halftime for First of October! Six months in either direction!
Yeah also the fact they just announced they are making a whole show together
Well that didn’t age too well
What kind of April fools joke is this
They deleted it from history with this performance, there is only music left
A really expensive one, I guess
nooo i wanted it to be real
The joke is that this isn’t First of October
A fantastic one.

After seeing Rob's most recent video, this definitely has hypomanic energy
Yeah defo. I also noticed his hair looks very unwashed which would defo add up with him being in an episode
So lovely seeing you two bounce ideas

It is april fools I suppose but that's a good day to do it on. Keep us guessing!
@@cloudneverclear you've never seen an elaborate internet April fools joke?
@@cloudneverclear you aren't well versed in internet jokes if you think $1200 is too much
i want a full 16 episode season of this show god damnit
Days later... Still hoping, but no, there probably is no hope... Is there? I feel unjustly pranked on such a serious/but not subject!! 😭
I absolutely love how Rob is always pointing stuff out because he's aware that not everyone knows every single aspect of the stuff that happens. Love you, Rob.
I like how it reached 700k and even then, almost a third of the budget went into recording the piano part.
Violist walks in with a Stradivarius, plays one note: “I just added $45 million to this song.“
What a flex. I didn’t know what half of this stuff was or that it even existed.
im more amazed of the fact they knew how to play every instrument in the studio
6:32 the little vibrato note comes through SO strong and I love it. That's the part I'm gonna look forward to the most when I hear the theme song :)
That sounded MASSIVE in the end, I'm looking forward to hearing that for the future episodes!
I already know this is gonna be my favourite thing on youtube
Pleeeaaase let this not be an april fools joke 😶
The musical equivalent of preparing an expensive meal for 90 minutes, just to be eaten in 15.
"The most gentle mugging ever" Dead! LOL
“Most expensive”
*Organist giggles to himself*
You silly gooses… you have no idea.😅
Goosiest?
I think it would be very cool to have a different combination of instruments playing the theme song everytime it is used in the series, or maybe it could be used to indicate a new chapter inside an episode. You probably have already recorded and edited multiple episodes so my idea is probably useless anyway, but I really like this first episode !
I LOVE that you bring your sound guy along no matter what you’re doing. Dude is the goat
I mean.. they're gonna need sound, right?
No matter what they're doing, as long as it's making music.
This is awesome! One thing you forgot to add in the price is the speaker monitors (they looked expensive) and the computer it was recorded on.
I love how this starts slightly goofy, rockets through totally unhinged, and spins all the way into sonic boom
Don't announce such good things on April Fool's Day. I will be thinking if this is real or not for the next week now!!
This is absolutely fantastic. Great video, great guys, great crew, amazing talent, fantastic production, editing and camera work.
Thanks!
I'm only 57 seconds in and I'm pretty sure this is going to be my favorite thing you two have done together
This was like a fever dream, and the immediate chemistry between Andrew and Rob was wild.
The enthusiasm you both show in this video for music-making with absolutely anything at hand is so infectious! Love it.
Oooh, First of October, but every other Saturday? Sign me up!
Rob’s excitement about recording all those percussion parts is exactly how it would be if I were invited to record somewhere.
Also, I gotta get my hands on one of those pipe things that Andrew played after the electric kazoo.
Boom! 🎉 Best of luck in your musical endeavors you two! Love your collabs in the past
Rob: "yeah.... I mean that really wouldn't"
Rob & Andrew: precede to anyway
when they said we're starting a new show together: sonic boom, I thought they meant they're gonna watch Sonic Boom the animated series together and I was like weird flex but
Rob and Andrew make anything less than the most awesome thing you've ever experienced in your life challenge: level impossible
This has the same energy as metal in inappropriate places... I love it.
This is the best most absurd effort to make a theme song I’ve ever seen 💜🙌🏻💪🏻🙏🏻
Yes! More Andrew and Rob content! Excited for future episodes.
I hope we get em and it’s not an April fools joke
It’s interesting to see Andrew and Rob write a song while not on a time crunch. This never happens lmao
should have went inside a freshly constructed house that hasnt been carpteded or furnished and played accoustic instruments inside it, so you could include the cost of the house.
Wild
looking forward to it a lot - i was just talking about your guys' collab video about the modular synth the other day
And so this was the day the Sonic Boom riff/lick was born.
I love the energy, guys. You both make my day
That was pretty rad, man 🖤🤘🏻
I guess next saturday we'll find out if it was an April Fools or not.
I recognize that control room. Those main farfield monitors are unbelievable with zero distortion at insane volumes, and that piano is STUNNING in person.

Rob Ruccia as always taking care of these two guys
Its definitely a Junior Engineer breaking a tap
glad to see andrew and rob in a video again! it’s been a while
"Use everything, make it very expensive."
Let us try and be systematic.
I have never been more hyped for any series in my entire life
Super excited for this show! I love when Andrew and Rob collab.
I love that there is a bunch of stacked sounds just like how sonic booms work.
In this episode of «when is Rob just gonna shave it off»
Let’s be honest, the most expensive sound in the world is some quantum physics engineer startin up the ol’ large hadron collider, bzzzz
i know he probably doesnt care about looks that much but my god robs hair is killin me lol
I have never in my life seen such a smart and exciting pitch for a new show. 👏. 👏. 👏.

👀 Guinness World Record anyone?
Great format happy for you two navigating this crazy RUclips musical creator space
"and what's their value as a human being?"
So now I know you can do unlimited layering, thanks guys
I wont mind if every single episode of Sonic Boom is just coming up with a new theme song. 💥💥💥
the best thing to happen to the internet.

Blue wig Andrew is definitely my new spirit animal.
I love that all the cars used are not as expensive as one tape machine.

"Is that a ukulele?"
Yeah, they don't work like that hahaha
I'm sensing the fear of gear owners having stuff damaged by excited, manic patrons hehehe.
Super cool, cant wait to see what you and Rob cook up!
I believe the most expensive sound, that has ever been recorded, is the detection of gravitational waves.

$700,000 dollars for 3 SECONDS OF SOUND. That's how you know Sonic Boom is gunna be goooooooood. 💥
