While it is a modern (1900) theory that the book was written following the return to Judea, that's not been proven though. It could easily be that it is what it purports to be, ie written by Daniel!

Learned a couple of new things in this video thanks. One thing I learned from earlier studies of the statue is that the legs of iron was the Roman Empire, and the feet of iron and clay mean that there never is another world-dominating empire - just lots of countries that can never truly mingle. The rock at the end is God's kingdom that will end all human rule and fill the earth.
I think the British Empire might have something to say about that. Maybe Daniel only saw up to the fall of Rome and there was actually some details left out between the clay/iron mix and God's Kingdom. It's not the first time God left out or carefully hid details from us for future generations.
This is necroposting, but there are additional details Daniel was not given at the time that now have historical significance. The head is Babylon. The chest and two arms are the Medes and Persians (check out Daniel 7 for a better description). The belly is Greece (anatomically, the abdomen is divided in four quadrants, after Alexander the great died, Greece was eventually divided into four kingdoms). The two legs are Rome. One leg is Western Rome, the other is Byzantine Rome. The feet are made of a mixture of iron and clay, meaning Rome is still the fourth beast in power today, but supported by another power (read between the lines to find out what nation that power is and why unbelievers should be terrified in their ignorance). The ten toes are the ten European kingdoms that emerged after the Roman Empire fell (the Empire, not Rome as it is today, though still equally powerful in many ways, moreso in many others). You still don't understand. Read it for yourself. With prayer, the bible was written for everyday people to understand. Read Daniel and let scripture interpret scripture. The prophesy is repeated several times in the book so that you can understand it.

Late dating of Daniel is a conservative move by Modern Theological standards. The intent is to undermine prophecy by implying it is vaticinium ex eventu, or prophecy after the fact. History written as if it were prophecy. That would imply a lie and is very slippery slope. Nobody supposes that Ezekiel was written at some date than sometime around 580 BC. Danial and Ezekiel were near contemporaries. Ezekiel contains three references to Daniel the man. He even defines his wisdom: "Are you wiser than Daniel? Is no secret hidden from you?" Ezekiel 28:3. Some argue that he refers to some ancient Daniel but that argument kinda falls flat with me. Why would Ezekiel refer to some ancient Baal worshiper when there is a more logically explanation through the book of Daniel? Daniels life would seem extraordinary, even to a contemporary. It didn't take 400 years to realize Einstein was a genius. His work was on clear display. Enemies of the Bible try to explain everything away because in their mind Divinity doesn't exist.. Daniels wisdom in captivity through God is was on clear display and even Ezekiel, a contemporary, acknowledges that.
I really like your stuff. However a late rendering of Danial 165 BC is weak. We know the Septuagint was compiled in 270 BC and Danial was part of that. Alexander the Great was the guy who commissioned the work in about 326 BC. During all these works Danial is present and old. We should just take the book at face value, Danial wrote it when he was in Babylon.

I would say Rome for the legs & we are now in the feet, the mix of clay & iron, many nations ruling together, intertwined with with our economies & our alliances & seemingly very strong like iron, but in fact quite easily destroyed with the mixture of clay. I agree with you that we should not hyperfocus on end time prophecy because that was not our mission from Christ. Our mission from Christ is to go out and make disciples and baptize them in the name of Jesus Christ. However, I disagree that Revelation is not about events still to come. And I disagree that Revelation is not important. Revelation 1:3 "Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." John calls Revelation a prophecy. Definition of prophecy: a prediction of something to come. There is NO way that Revelation could be about the falling of the Jewish temple and the ruler of that time for 2 reasons. 1) There are events in Revelation that have YET to come to pass such as Christ's return. And 2) Revelation was written AFTER the falling of the temple. The temple fell in 70 A.D, and Revelation was written in 96 A.D. That is 26 years later. So if the events are about the falling of the temple how can John call it a prophecy? It wouldn't be a prophecy. Also, Jesus said that no one knew the day or the hour, but He did say to keep watch, be vigilant, and to know the season that it will occur. So, even though end times should not be our main focus Scripture never says that it's not important. We should be prepared for the events of Revelation because there will be many saints who won't be able to withstand because they were lied to.
A nice introduction to a profound and much needed study today. The books of Daniel and Revelation are like twin souls that expound on the great kingdoms of the world then and now, and show the amazing working of God in the affairs of mankind/ in setting up and bringing down kingdoms and showing us what will come to pass right before our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ comes as our King of kings and Lord of lords. I am in touch with some wonderful teachers and preachers who are experts in Prophecy. It’s a study that too many have neglected for too long. Just started to listen and noticed that his background statement is completely wrong. The book of Daniel was written well before the events of the Greek empire that he is describing. In fact, the dreams are describing future event as well as the then future Persian and Roman empires. So these events cannot be influencing Daniel's writings.
Very interesting. I have to wonder about the verses that talk about being watchful for the bridegroom (Jesus) who will come as a thief in the night. My question is; does this mean to literally stay awake to watch for Jesus? How could we do that? Or is it symbolic?
There is a video that explains how Galilean weddings worked during the time of Christ and were unique even among Jewish traditions. The parable of the 10 Virgins is beautifully explained in the video and directly correlates to the Galilean wedding traditions that Jesus and the disciples would have been very familiar with. It is called, Before the Wrath, is narrated by Kevin Sorbo, and was released in 2020. I ran across it about a year ago on Prime Video while looking for something else and put it in my Watchlist. I recommend watching it because the Bible is referenced but also a Jewish cultural is explained along with it.

I like a lot of what Brandon Robbins does but please check some of the claims. Claiming a late date for Daniel is a concern and I believe a denial of the prophetic nature of the book. There is good argument for an early date for Daniel and more in keeping for its place in scripture.

Just a side it was many years after the dream that Nebuchadnezzar finally lost patience and ordered the slaughter of the so called wise men. Dan2:1, "in the second year of the kingship of Nebuchadnezzar he dreamed dreams. Daniel spent three years in training before he was presented to the king Dan1:18-20. In Dan 1:1 it was Nebuchadnezzar the king, who brought Daniel from Jerusalem.
Daniel clearly explains that the Statue represents all the world powers that are to come after Nebuchadnezzar up until Gods Kingdom comes. This statue starts with Babylon which is the head. King Nebuchadnezzar called his rulership "Babylon the Great" (similar to Alexander the Great). Proof: Daniel 4:30 the king exclaimed, “Is this not Babylon the Great, which I myself have built by the might of my power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?” If Nebuchadnezzar is the head of his own statue and refers himself to Babylon the Great then the entire body can be referred to as Babylon the Great. Put this together and you now understand who Babylon the Great is in the Book of Revelation. At the moment it is refering to America. There are good God fearing people in American government and that is why Jesus says "to come out from among her MY PEOPLE"(Rev 18:4) and support the Kingdom that is coming. America is the final world power before God's Kingdom comes/Christ's return. Rev 17:16,17 tells us that God puts it into the heart of the Beast to devour America (Babylon the great/the prostitute) and eat her up, thus destroying her. Then when Chrost returns he takes care of the Beast and the false prophet (religion that is buddy buddy with the Beast). We see America being destroyed right now by 'the Beast'. This is how we know Christ is coming and we need to side with the kingdom and nothing else. (Rev 14:6-12) In Daniel the Beast is mentioned as having an agenda to devour and crush the entire earth. This means its a global agenda. It also says the Beast wants to change times and laws. This means it wants to change how everything is done on earth and force a Globalist agenda. (Daniel 7:23). Fortunately the Beast only has 42 months to rule before the Kingdom comes and it's power is stripped away from the Beast and is given to God's people. The Beast has 26 months left before Chrost comes. Be dressed and ready by supporting God's kingdom only, no political party, and having nothing to be ashamed of, hanging on to the holy spirit. If you do this then you will be used by God to strip the Beast of its power and you will take over exacting God's righteous ways on earth. This is called the Banquet in Jesus parable, where you eat the wicked and devour them. If you miss the Banquet because you were not dressed and ready the Jesus says to wait at the door for when he returns from the banquet and as soon as you hear him knock you need to open the door and let him in. He will get himself dressed and have YOU sit down and he will serve YOU. This means you will have a part in eating and destroying the false prophet who has decieved many through religion. How do you get to hell? Very simple: claim that you're innocent. How do you get to heaven? Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy. How to know if you're guilty or not? Simply: Compare your life to the Ten Commandments God gave you in the Bible. One thing you've touched on but perhaps fully don't filly grasp is that Nebuchadnezzar's dream is all about Gods people Israel, and not about any of the pagan kingdoms listed on the image. This is an encrypted way to track lost Israel's s 10 lost tribes. You also fail to count the kingdoms in the correct order which comes together in John s book of revelation. This is a model of an exact timeline that must be completely finished as one timeline, in order to reach the start of Gods kingdom apostolic church( the stone) by combining exact world history to an exact date the dream pinpoints. Seems simple to me. I always understood the statute to be the head Babylon, the chest and arms Persia and Meads being the two kingdoms that ruled together, then Greece and the two legs being Rome. Rome was split in two, east and west. The feet would be a mixture of a broken Rome and many independent country’s, some strong some weak. Which what happened because Rome was still around just in a broken form. The toes are the ten kings that will come from those countries soon. Then Yeshua will come and destroy all these kingdoms and set up his kingdom forever.
Daniel 2 clearly explains itself. The text is so simple that a child can understand it. And Rome is the legs of iron. The metals reflect the metals used in the armour the reigning kingdom's military.

Another good insight on the statue is one that Perry Stone gave insight to and that is of the splitting of the legs even as the arms were two kingdoms, Medes and Persians, even so, the legs were divided East and West Roman Empires and the two feet are also mixtures of Iron and Clay in East and West Hemispheres with the dividing line actually running, not through the Atlantic, but directly through Israel North to South. So that Eastern Hemisphere is primarily Iron - communistic authoritarian dictator ruled countries like Russia and China, while primarily Western Hemisphere is Democratic or countries of clay, people ruled counties - a bipolar world. And yet both hemispheres are mixed, so you find scatterings of each type in both Hemispheres, but generally they are split and opposed in type. Neither is able to dominate and are the last ditch efforts of man to rule the kingdom of this world, to finish the transgression of the first 6 day Milleniums of creation, while the stone will wipe them and all vestiges of their rule out with the millennial Day of the Lord, a 1000 year reign of rest.
Daniel lived during the time of the Babylonian exile before the return. His prophetic words clearly show the events leading up to the coming of Jesus Christ. God does indeed reign and He will until the end of this age.

The latter chapters are written from the firsthand perspective of the author, who received the visions and interpretations described in the book. In addition, most of the events described in the book happened to Daniel or his friends or others living in his day (such as kings Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar whom he knew). Leadership Ministries Worldwide, Daniel-Hosea, The Preacher’s Outline & Sermon Bible, (Chattanooga, TN: Leadership Ministries Worldwide, 2008), 1. There are those who seek to remove the supernatural aspects of the Bible. I do not believe that Brandon is among them. However, the account Daniel's interaction in Chapter two with the Kings dream and the interpretation thereof require that Daniel be present in Babylon at the time of the exile. some will argue that the records were compiled later by a scribe, but that is merely opinion as there is no reason to believe that Daniel's visions and the events that he describes were anything other than factual. Additionally Jesus cites the writings of Daniel as having bearing upon the teachings that He was sharing. His death, burial, and resurrection attest to the validity of His words as He demonstrated that He was indeed the Son of God, the Messiah or the Christ of God. I did not reference the time of the composition of the Book of Daniel and as such did not take issue with Mr. Robbins position. Just the same, the words that are given in this amazing book represent the true experiences and teachings of Daniel. However, I personally find no reason to doubt that Daniel composed these writings. Nebuchadnezzar transported healthy, intelligent youths from Jerusalem after taking the city in 586 BC. These captives would have been the teenage sons of the nobles, those whose fathers had the wealth and position in society to further educate their sons. Workmen, like Ezekiel, we’re sent into the providences as laborers. Its for this reason your comment on the Seleucid empire is not right; the Seleucid empire began after Alexander the Great. Nor is the book of Daniel written in chronological order. Daniel 1:1 says In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem and besieged it. Daniel 2:1- And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him. We do know three years passed between the noble captive sons arriving at the court before they stood before the king. The problem is, there would have been 3.5-4 years between Daniel being ready for service from his capture in 605 BC. We are, by Daniel 2:1 in the second year of king Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar inherited his advisors and counsel. His decree to kill them all was to verify they were worthy their post, and not just saying what he wanted to hear. But, Daniel stood before the king not just as a captive, but as a trained advisor, and, additionally, he stood before the king as a prophet of God. Israel is to hold the death penalty for any false prophet, and Daniel was honest and true. The king wanted all his conquered worlds’ wisdom in his court, and in Daniel, he had God’s wisdom.
Next I notice that he misses the real significance of Nebudchanezer's demand that the Magi (i.e. Chaldean's ) first tell him the dream. The Magi's primary responsibility was to select the next King. Their primary tool was not astrology, but rather dream interpretation. Nebudchanezer had just assumed the Kingship after his father's death. He wanted to prevent a coup by the Magi by them lying about the interpretation. When Daniel showed that God alone could tell him both the dream and its interpretation, and that God gave these to Daniel, it made it obvious to Nebudchanezer that Daniel was the only Magi that fullfilled the role and thus was appointed chief of the Magi.

While it is a modern (1900) theory that the book was written following the return to Judea, that's not been proven though.
It could easily be that it is what it purports to be, ie written by Daniel!
Jesus said it was written by Daniel (Matt 24:15-16) I believe Him.

Learned a couple of new things in this video thanks. One thing I learned from earlier studies of the statue is that the legs of iron was the Roman Empire, and the feet of iron and clay mean that there never is another world-dominating empire - just lots of countries that can never truly mingle. The rock at the end is God's kingdom that will end all human rule and fill the earth.
I think the British Empire might have something to say about that.
Maybe Daniel only saw up to the fall of Rome and there was actually some details left out between the clay/iron mix and God's Kingdom.
It's not the first time God left out or carefully hid details from us for future generations.
This is necroposting, but there are additional details Daniel was not given at the time that now have historical significance.
The head is Babylon.
The chest and two arms are the Medes and Persians (check out Daniel 7 for a better description).
The belly is Greece (anatomically, the abdomen is divided in four quadrants, after Alexander the great died, Greece was eventually divided into four kingdoms).
The two legs are Rome.
One leg is Western Rome, the other is Byzantine Rome.
The feet are made of a mixture of iron and clay, meaning Rome is still the fourth beast in power today, but supported by another power (read between the lines to find out what nation that power is and why unbelievers should be terrified in their ignorance).
The ten toes are the ten European kingdoms that emerged after the Roman Empire fell (the Empire, not Rome as it is today, though still equally powerful in many ways, moreso in many others).
Compare Daniel 2 to Daniel 7, and also check out Daniel 8, Revelation 13 and Revelation 17. Lots of information in those five chapters for you!

Late dating of Daniel is a conservative move by Modern Theological standards. The intent is to undermine prophecy by implying it is vaticinium ex eventu, or prophecy after the fact. History written as if it were prophecy. That would imply a lie and is very slippery slope. Nobody supposes that Ezekiel was written at some date than sometime around 580 BC. Danial and Ezekiel were near contemporaries. Ezekiel contains three references to Daniel the man. He even defines his wisdom: "Are you wiser than Daniel? Is no secret hidden from you?" Ezekiel 28:3. Some argue that he refers to some ancient Daniel but that argument kinda falls flat with me. Why would Ezekiel refer to some ancient Baal worshiper when there is a more logically explanation through the book of Daniel? Daniels life would seem extraordinary, even to a contemporary. It didn't take 400 years to realize Einstein was a genius. His work was on clear display. Enemies of the Bible try to explain everything away because in their mind Divinity doesn't exist.. Daniels wisdom in captivity through God is was on clear display and even Ezekiel, a contemporary, acknowledges that.
I really like your stuff. However a late rendering of Danial 165 BC is weak. We know the Septuagint was compiled in 270 BC and Danial was part of that. Alexander the Great was the guy who commissioned the work in about 326 BC. During all these works Danial is present and old. We should just take the book at face value, Danial wrote it when he was in Babylon.

I would say Rome for the legs & we are now in the feet, the mix of clay & iron, many nations ruling together, intertwined with with our economies & our alliances & seemingly very strong like iron, but in fact quite easily destroyed with the mixture of clay. I agree with you that we should not hyperfocus on end time prophecy because that was not our mission from Christ. Our mission from Christ is to go out and make disciples and baptize them in the name of Jesus Christ. However, I disagree that Revelation is not about events still to come. And I disagree that Revelation is not important. Revelation 1:3 "Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." John calls Revelation a prophecy. Definition of prophecy: a prediction of something to come. There is NO way that Revelation could be about the falling of the Jewish temple and the ruler of that time for 2 reasons. 1) There are events in Revelation that have YET to come to pass such as Christ's return. And 2) Revelation was written AFTER the falling of the temple. The temple fell in 70 A.D, and Revelation was written in 96 A.D. That is 26 years later. So if the events are about the falling of the temple how can John call it a prophecy? It wouldn't be a prophecy. Also, Jesus said that no one knew the day or the hour, but He did say to keep watch, be vigilant, and to know the season that it will occur. So, even though end times should not be our main focus Scripture never says that it's not important. We should be prepared for the events of Revelation because there will be many saints who won't be able to withstand because they were lied to.

The books of Daniel and Revelation are like twin souls that expound on the great kingdoms of the world then and now, and show the amazing working of God in the affairs of mankind/ in setting up and bringing down kingdoms and showing us what will come to pass right before our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ comes as our King of kings and Lord of lords. Just started to listen and noticed that his background statement is completely wrong. The book of Daniel was written well before the events of the Greek empire that he is describing. In fact, the dreams are describing future event as well as the then future Persian and Roman empires. So these events cannot be influencing Daniel's writings.
Very interesting. I have to wonder about the verses that talk about being watchful for the bridegroom (Jesus) who will come as a thief in the night. My question is; does this mean to literally stay awake to watch for Jesus? How could we do that? Or is it symbolic?
There is a video that explains how Galilean weddings worked during the time of Christ and were unique even among Jewish traditions. The parable of the 10 Virgins is beautifully explained in the video and directly correlates to the Galilean wedding traditions that Jesus and the disciples would have been very familiar with. It is called, Before the Wrath, is narrated by Kevin Sorbo, and was released in 2020. I ran across it about a year ago on Prime Video while looking for something else and put it in my Watchlist. I recommend watching it because the Bible is referenced but also a Jewish cultural is explained along with it.

I like a lot of what Brandon Robbins does but please check some of the claims. Claiming a late date for Daniel is a concern and I believe a denial of the prophetic nature of the book. There is good argument for an early date for Daniel and more in keeping for its place in scripture.

Just a side it was many years after the dream that Nebuchadnezzar finally lost patience and ordered the slaughter of the so called wise men. Dan2:1, "in the second year of the kingship of Nebuchadnezzar he dreamed dreams. Daniel spent three years in training before he was presented to the king Dan1:18-20. In Dan 1:1 it was Nebuchadnezzar the king, who brought Daniel from Jerusalem.

Daniel clearly explains that the Statue represents all the world powers that are to come after Nebuchadnezzar up until Gods Kingdom comes. This statue starts with Babylon which is the head. King Nebuchadnezzar called his rulership "Babylon the Great" (similar to Alexander the Great).
Proof:
Daniel 4:30
the king exclaimed, “Is this not Babylon the Great, which I myself have built by the might of my power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”
If Nebuchadnezzar is the head of his own statue and refers himself to Babylon the Great then the entire body can be referred to as Babylon the Great. Put this together and you now understand who Babylon the Great is in the Book of Revelation. At the moment it is refering to America. There are good God fearing people in American government and that is why Jesus says "to come out from among her MY PEOPLE"(Rev 18:4) and support the Kingdom that is coming.
America is the final world power before God's Kingdom comes/Christ's return.
Rev 17:16,17 tells us that God puts it into the heart of the Beast to devour America (Babylon the great/the prostitute) and eat her up, thus destroying her. Then when Chrost returns he takes care of the Beast and the false prophet (religion that is buddy buddy with the Beast).
We see America being destroyed right now by 'the Beast'. This is how we know Christ is coming and we need to side with the kingdom and nothing else. (Rev 14:6-12)
In Daniel the Beast is mentioned as having an agenda to devour and crush the entire earth. This means its a global agenda. It also says the Beast wants to change times and laws. This means it wants to change how everything is done on earth and force a Globalist agenda. (Daniel 7:23).
Fortunately the Beast only has 42 months to rule before the Kingdom comes and it's power is stripped away from the Beast and is given to God's people. The Beast has 26 months left before Chrost comes. Be dressed and ready by supporting God's kingdom only, no political party, and having nothing to be ashamed of, hanging on to the holy spirit. If you do this then you will be used by God to strip the Beast of its power and you will take over exacting God's righteous ways on earth. This is called the Banquet in Jesus parable, where you eat the wicked and devour them. If you miss the Banquet because you were not dressed and ready the Jesus says to wait at the door for when he returns from the banquet and as soon as you hear him knock you need to open the door and let him in. He will get himself dressed and have YOU sit down and he will serve YOU. This means you will have a part in eating and destroying the false prophet who has decieved many through religion.

In the Gospel of Matthew ch 24 Verse 15 Jesus refers to “Daniel the Prophet and speaks of the Abomination of desolation this is also repeated in Mark Ch 13 verse 14 and it is clear that Jesus is speaking of this taking place in the future just before His second coming

Seems simple to me. I always understood the statute to be the head Babylon, the chest and arms Persia and Meads being the two kingdoms that ruled together, then Greece and the two legs being Rome. Rome was split in two, east and west. The feet would be a mixture of a broken Rome and many independent country’s, some strong some weak. Which what happened because Rome was still around just in a broken form. The toes are the ten kings that will come from those countries soon. Then Yeshua will come and destroy all these kingdoms and set up his kingdom forever.

Daniel 2 clearly explains itself. The text is so simple that a child can understand it. And Rome is the legs of iron. The metals reflect the metals used in the armour the reigning kingdom's military.

So that Eastern Hemisphere is primarily Iron - communistic authoritarian dictator ruled countries like Russia and China, while primarily Western Hemisphere is Democratic or countries of clay, people ruled counties - a bipolar world. And yet both hemispheres are mixed, so you find scatterings of each type in both Hemispheres, but generally they are split and opposed in type. Neither is able to dominate and are the last ditch efforts of man to rule the kingdom of this world, to finish the transgression of the first 6 day Milleniums of creation, while the stone will wipe them and all vestiges of their rule out with the millennial Day of the Lord, a 1000 year reign of rest.

Daniel lived during the time of the Babylonian exile before the return. His prophetic words clearly show the events leading up to the coming of Jesus Christ. God does indeed reign and He will until the end of this age.
No, your expert here admits the thing was written in 168 bc. There is little "clearly showing" Christian interpretations in Daniel. Come on.

The latter chapters are written from the firsthand perspective of the author, who received the visions and interpretations described in the book. There are those who seek to remove the supernatural aspects of the Bible. I do not believe that Brandon is among them. However, the account Daniel's interaction in Chapter two with the Kings dream and the interpretation thereof require that Daniel be present in Babylon at the time of the exile. some will argue that the records were compiled later by a scribe, but that is merely opinion as there is no reason to believe that Daniel's visions and the events that he describes were anything other than factual. Additionally Jesus cites the writings of Daniel as having bearing upon the teachings that He was sharing. His death, burial, and resurrection attest to the validity of His words as He demonstrated that He was indeed the Son of God, the Messiah or the Christ of God. I did not reference the time of the composition of the Book of Daniel and as such did not take issue with Mr. Robbins position. Just the same, the words that are given in this amazing book represent the true experiences and teachings of Daniel. However, I personally find no reason to doubt that Daniel composed these writings. Mr. Robbins is entitled to his viewpoint as are you.

I keep trying to pay attention to what you are saying, but you are confusing the issue. Daniel wrote the book of Daniel, Jesus himself says so, as recorded by Matthew, and Mark. Nebuchadnezzar transported healthy, intelligent youths from Jerusalem after taking the city in 586 BC. These captives would have been the teenage sons of the nobles, those whose fathers had the wealth and position in society to further educate their sons. Workmen, like Ezekiel, we’re sent into the providences as laborers.

Nor is the book of Daniel written in chronological order. Daniel 1:1 says In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem and besieged it.
Daniel 2:1- And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
We do know three years passed between the noble captive sons arriving at the court before they stood before the king. The problem is, there would have been 3.5-4 years between Daniel being ready for service from his capture in 605 BC. We are, by Daniel 2:1 in the second year of king Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar inherited his advisors and counsel. His decree to kill them all was to verify they were worthy their post, and not just saying what he wanted to hear.
But, Daniel stood before the king not just as a captive, but as a trained advisor, and, additionally, he stood before the king as a prophet of God. Israel is to hold the death penalty for any false prophet, and Daniel was honest and true. The king wanted all his conquered worlds’ wisdom in his court, and in Daniel, he had God’s wisdom.

Next I notice that he misses the real significance of Nebudchanezer's demand that the Magi (i.e. Chaldean's ) first tell him the dream. The Magi's primary responsibility was to select the next King. Their primary tool was not astrology, but rather dream interpretation. Nebudchanezer had just assumed the Kingship after his father's death. He wanted to prevent a coup by the Magi by them lying about the interpretation. When Daniel showed that God alone could tell him both the dream and its interpretation, and that God gave these to Daniel, it made it obvious to Nebudchanezer that Daniel was the only Magi that fullfilled the role and thus was appointed chief of the Magi.
