@@jh5kl I dont think they are using old components and i will tell you that the exterior and the interior design of this A1 is completly new and amazing. I own this car after a lot of research of what to buy and believe me i get a lot of compliments for his looks. In its category its An amazing car. I will also tell you that the new A4,A6,A7,Q3,Q8 are Beautiful and cleverly designed in the comparison with other Premium brands. And premium brands are 'overpriced' for a reason. As for old components if they are tested through the years and are good why change them? They just make small upgrades to improve them. Thats how industry works.

Charles its' not an Audi 1.5 i'ts a VW 1.5. The A1 is the same car as Polo/Ibiza/Fabia at the end of the day, your just paying over the odds for a feux premium car! Its all a bit orange tan and fake animal print to be honest. The Fiesta drives better than the A1 and those Ford 3 pots are so much more characterful! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, this car is designed to mug people like yourselves off with the illusion of a premium badge! its not bad car , you'd just be better off buying a Polo cause thats all it is!

I'm glad she compared driving refinement between the A1 and the Mini, where the A1 (and Polo) wins.
I do like the A1 interior but the new 2020 A3 still has some convincing.

My mum has a 1.4 tsi and she loves it !!! My dad loves driving it too....!!! Based on their experience this looks like a cracking motor 👍...yes more pricey than rivals...but having seen the cheaper paints used and materials in the others...you do get what toy pay for ! Asked my mum are you thinking of changing her ? NO....my mum has had loads of cars and years of driving experience... dont discount our elders...they literally have years of experience 😉✌

It’s a late review of the 2019 A1. I would have gone with this car if it had sunroof , so the A3 that’s due to be announced the new facelift one
If you are buying brand new, i would def advise waiting for golf 8, all new a3 and all new seat leon that are coming out late 2019. All of them are rumored to have a new platform that will have mild hybrid technology while being larger and faster than current models

Which other cars similar to the Audi A1, A3 in the features like Apple car play , blind spot mirrors - I know the a1 does not have that , sunroof , then ambient lights .
I currently have a Nissan Qashqai and going to change it within the 6 months

A3 is not an alternative to A1. Only other cars are things like Fiesta Vignale for luxury or Fiesta ST for sport. Or you can go for Smart ForFour, or an outsider is DS3 Crossover (just for looks)

A much better design then the old one but that price tag is rediculous, rather have a VW Polo or a Toyota Yaris GR.
You’re paying for the added tech and comfort. The interior on the Audi is streets ahead of the Polo and its a more comfortable car to live with.

Jim the four rings mean nothing. A Tiguan is better looking than a Q3 and has a superior spec for less money. The Polo is cheaply speced in every way and looks rubbish so I’d rather have the A1 for more money. It’s only Volkswagen heads saying it’s a badge thing if you ask me. The cars are completely different and made in different factories.

Sadly, people buy cars on finance so what matters is how much it costs monthly. It's also why smartphone manufacturers can sell phones for £1000 because the cost is spread out over many months.

Up market car with an upmarket price ! No sat nav it's a £1500 option . Do one Audi .
Who uses infotainment sat nav when you’ve got google maps on your phone.
Not sure I'd pay top dollar for this when there's a lot of talented opposition, including from its sister cars (I'd much rather have an Ibiza). Also, I've heard bad things about not only DSG but the 1.5l petrol engine, so pairing them together could be a risky proposition.
It's interesting to see that the lights have been moved from a dial back to the stalk on the steering column where they belong (other German car manufacturers - take note).
Safety shouldn't be lacking on an Audi - just how expensive is blind spot monitoring anyway?
Is VW starting to spend less on the interior quality of its smaller cars? Aren't the exteriors all starting to become a bit too similar?

Agree, much better off going for the Ibiza. Same car, just cheaper. The 1.5tsi can be prone to kangarooing but my parents have it and it's seems ok now it's run in.
Ride and build quality differ quite a bunch between the budget entry Seat badge and the premium Audi. The A1 makes sense along it’s Audi line up, if you only compare price you’ll always get the cheaper variant. Sharing a platform is not enough, as you have a lot of assemblies placed on top of that. If you can’t afford the Audi, or just don’t want to spend the money and only want a decent go-to car, the Ibiza is a great choice. But the A1’s a solid one as well, just depends on the budget. I doubt there are many A1 owners that say they would have preferred the Ibiza, while I’m sure many Ibiza owners would take the upgrade, if it were free 🤷♂️

The small slit above the grill looks like it's from a Hyundai Kona. The design directions of both Audi and Hyundai are on the same path because Hyundai started hiring former Audi designers.
The small slit is a design reference to the famous Quattro rallye cars of the past.

Just a VW Polo with an Audi badge, if you are looking for the entry model A1 then go for a higher spec Polo instead. If you are looking something high up the range (S Line) surely you would purchase another vehicle altogether! Just too overpriced for what it is really.

The mini has far superior performance & it’s infotainment system is based on BMW’s iDrive.

The most different of the small hatches, I could never go mini its just hideously ugly so for me its A1 andvin the colour as tested 2nd being the Polo, just a bit more premium than the fiesta in 3rd.

Still looks more premium inside and out than a wide mouthed frog focus. I'd pay the extra but its your choice too, also residual values makes the focus a bad idea on PCP or even lease.

I don't know why people are talking shot about this. Looks pretty nice and the scratchy plastic doesn't seem like an issue, it was only used in a couple places. Also I can't wait for the S1.

New A1 design is awful. It looks like a Hyundai with an Audi badge slapped on. All the extra plastics around the front grill, and indeed inside the car too. All the nice curves of the Mk 1 have been replaced with bulkiness and brawn of the Mk 2.

I have only one small criticism. Try to add a bit of a fun in your reviews, learn from your old colleague Matt.
At the past you had slight "tearing" and unnecessary accents on the words at the and of the sentences - with the new appearance I'm clad to see you have totally fix that and the narrative is very smooth and delightful.
Although good and informative the reviews are bit dry and dull - you catch up with the beauty and your personality but just add some humour to create the perfect one!

I’ve owned 8 Audi’s... and I’m sorry, this and the Q2 are awful.
Too be honest, I’m not liking the way Audi is going as a brand at the moment.
My wife and I have had 4 Audi’s between us. The Q2 is actually great. My wife currently owns one, and I’ve been surprised by how zippy, smooth and practical it is. The A1 however is rubbish. I was given one when my A4 was serviced. It feels very cheap, and ordinary.
