- Today on Buckle Up, Rob reviews the newly face-lifted Audi A1 35TFSI S-Line - which is quite a mouth full. This is Audi's smallest and least expensive offering, but does it live up to the four rings proudly fixed to the grille?
Up against the VW Polo, Seat Ibiza, Skoda Fabia, Renault Clio, Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, Citroen C3, Peugeot 208, MG3, Dacia Sandero, Kia Rio, Hyundai i20, Toyota Yaris, Mazda 2 and Honda Jazz.

We would all thoroughly recommend their channels, so why not go and check them out. Авто/Мото
Great video as always Rob!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
nice looking car, great video 👌🏼I do own the latest vw polo, and believe that in vw they preferred to save space espaxially for back passenger on the polo, and keep the A1 smaller but lower and sportier.
Thanks for watching!
In my head this is the size an audi A3 should be
It would have been not so long ago. Even small cars are now big.
so what is the reliability track record of the A1? Nice review btw
You’re better off asking an owners group on Facebook, but we’ve heard no horror stories.
“Bet that’s an option”

🤷🏻♂️
In december I ordered the 25 tfsi s tronic with the tech pro pack in black but with the 5 spock wheels for my son's first car. It hasnt arrived yet though as its set for build week 13 so should be here soon.
Thank for the reveiw.
That’s one lucky son! Thanks for watching!
are you in the uk? or us? i ordered a 35 tfsi black edition with everything in it beginning of feb and got allocated buildweek 10 just waiting for it to get to germany port
@@paulmansfield9504 Im in the UK i was told build week 13 and on the 15/3rd was told 4 to 6 weeks till delivery.
@@Dave-901 yeah I'm getting slightly annoyed cause I got build week 10 and I've already been waiting 4 weeks from the vehicle leaving the factory to get to Emden
@@paulmansfield9504 Yeah its really frustrating but hopefull they will arrive in a few weeks.🤞
What is that fabulous looks mum van in the background?
That would be the dogger
So not ideal if you have a 6'2" driver and rear passenger! great review!
Ideal, no. Doable, yes.
Nice review. CHUCKABLE. Learning new words, like being back at school. 🙂
Every day is a school day!
I heard they stopped offering the 1.0L engine, instead all come with the 1.5 but squeezed down according to spec. Much better
Not in the UK they haven’t
@@BuckleUpShow probably for the next facelift then. The article was very recent
I like it! Just wish this was an option in the states! :)
Do Audi do any hatches in the US, the A3 is a saloon only there right?
@@BuckleUpShow Correct, saloon (sedan) only. I think the only one they do is the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron--which might even be all older models! Sad. I was just in England and loved seeing all the various models. :)
does the A1 model have also daytime rear LED lights?
No, that’s not required by law
@@BuckleUpShow oh! but aren’t the ‘Auto’ light setting includes the rear also?
That’s different to daytime running lights which are on all the time, regardless of how light or dark it is.
Auto lights turn on the headlights and rear lights when it gets dark.
@@BuckleUpShow thanks!
hi! wanted to ask if the Audi A1 25 TFSI model is recommended as a first car?
If you’re very rich, then yes.
I had an audi a1 s line as my first car - was perfect!
@@PhilippaJ I really thinking about getting one! this or a Seat Ibiza FR 1.5L
Check skoda fabia
@patchlool9466 yeah seat fr vision and skoda fabia monte carlo are really worth the money
08:03 Wrong, the A1 has wireless CarPlay.
It's actually around 07:57 the comment re. CarPlay is made, and this model did not have Wireless CarPlay
And 09:28, armrests are optional.
Don’t remember saying they were standard
Wireless only optional. I did my order feb 2021 and had to wait one year for delivery. If i wanted to ad witeless they said i had to wait several month more. This was durint the time there was a massive lack of semiconductors and everything going on with covid!
My only complain is that it doesn't have a arm rest :[
You can option one
@@BuckleUpShow oh that changes a lot then
Wonderfull car, it really is. Great buy, until you figure out what else you could buy for the same money.
I certainly enjoyed my time with it! What would you pick for the same money?
Guess it depends whether you’d rather spend the money to make your interior nicer or not - the A1 definitely sits at the premium end of the market though!
@@BuckleUpShow VW Golf - for the safety features as standard. The entry level Audi models are pretty poor although, they are nice looking!
Ah but the Golf has the worst infotainment screen in the world
@@BuckleUpShow It is not the best I agree - but, you have do have "voice command" also it is only one swipe down from the main screen for you to add "favourite" function apps. A friend of mine has new Golf and went through everything and I was quite impressed..
A1 was worst brand new car I ever bought, broke down day one, dealership hopeless, repair after repair, after two years I was glad to see the back of it.
Every fault would be described as a characteristic of the car, later I saw Audi bottom or close to bottom for reliability.
Unfortunately sounds like yours was a dud
I agree a dud but when I saw that Audi were bottom for customer service and reliability in one of these JD Power or Warrantywise surveys I realised the brand’s success is a triumph of marketing.
Audi a1 24 plate or vw polo 24 plate
They’re both built on the same platform with the same engines and same electronics, so it’s really down to which you prefer the look of and which one you can get the best deal on.
Can you sit in the back 'not particularly well' is a massive understatement, the actual answer is 'no, not at all. It's sh*t'.
It's not a 4 person car, let's dredge up the 80s description '2+2' actually for 2 people and maybe for a short drive 2 extra people can be transported in the car as well.
I disagree, it’s definitely a 4 person car. The majority of people are not as tall as me, and during my time with it, 4 people were comfortably travelling along in it.
I have the A1 35 tsfi 2023 model. I agree that is not a true 2+2 people car. At least not if you are of normal size. Im 183cm. Only a child have space behind me.
After driving a Peugeot 208 and looking straight at the instrument console with its lowered steering wheel I couldn't go back to the idea of peering through a steering wheel to look at the dials. It looks so archaic and impracticable.
People tend to either love or hate the Peugeot steering wheel
Two completely different philosophy in car making.
Yes, and it seems to either be something that works for people or doesn't at all 🤣🤣
It looks very unimpressive on the inside. Other than a digital instrument panel, it looks very basic. I expected more from Audi.
What were you expecting in the supermini class?
that car has nothing to do with the polo, it is way more premium
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone be so confidently wrong 😅
i own one mate, and my sister has the polo,it is like trying to tell me that ballantines is as good as macallan, they are both whiskeys right?
Your comment said the A1 has nothing to do with the Polo. That is factually incorrect whichever way you look at it. They share every component under the skin. It’s just a different body on top. Same for the Seat Ibiza and Skoda Fabia. It’s the car equivalent of putting on some makeup.
@@BuckleUpShow i said the a1 is way more premium mate, the materials are more premium the engine is more responsive and the car quicker, the driving experience is completely different, the handling as well, the look of the a1 is much better and sporty than the poor in every angle vw polo. That is my quick review.
And you also said it has nothing to do with the Polo. While materials are more premium, the chassis and engines are identical to that in a Polo, so it’s no sportier or faster in like for like spec.
