Why DO tubecasters feel they need to smear music all over everything, anyway? Is it because other tubecasters do it, so it must be right? Fine by me. But I'll be instantly hitting pause, thumbing it down, and closing the window just like I do with other tubecasters. Promote your music on your own time, not mine.
People forget this part whenever they talk about "peaceful protest like MLK". If a riot is the only thing you wanna see and not the conditions that lead to it in the first place you are indeed on the wrong side of the argument, and more than likely history in general.
who came here for school? Im glad i did because i still get very sad from this topic and i cant ever imagine myself in a position like that i cant imagine myself not being able breathe for minutes calling for my mum and knowing that this is it im not gonna be able to see her again. Thank goodness this was recorded and if i was there whilst the recorder guy is recording the video, i would take george floyd to safety because no one deserves this and i wish black ppl got their rights cuz its not fair for them. and if ur wondering why im here a month later well im kinda behind on school work
Wow you took him out of context, he’s talking about peaceful protests and how he doesn’t condone violence but also giving reasoning of why, but the way you edit this you’re making it sound like he condoned it when he didn’t
MLK does not condone violence. He is speaking of our moral responsibility to address the economic, social and physical violence that gives rise to the despair and rage.
@@kalenacademy you still took him out of context , for those many who believe the first thing they read or see . The economy , social and physical violence are different in his time period , and even then the Great MLK Jr was against riots , he acknowledged another group who was all for it and basically unassociated his group from them
The headline is a well-known MLK quote. The video is short and text included for those who may be in a hurry. The message is clear. “It is as necessary for me to be as vigorous in condemning the conditions which cause people to feel they must engage in riotous activity, as it is for me to condemn riots. In the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. Riot’s do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society, which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots... My hope is that protests are non-violent. My hope is we can avoid riots because riots are self-defeating and socially destructive...” ~MLK Jr.
Its not misleading he believes both statements. He litterally starts off in this video saying "I find it nessary to condemn the conditions that cause riots as much as the roits themselves" and im fairly certain if they didnt cut away from that exact speech, he explicitly says "a riot is the voice of the unheard"
"Riots are self defeating and socially destructive." Quote taken out of the same interview as the one everyone's using to justify the riots. "A riot is the language of the unheard." People, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did not support violence and riots. Because it's counter productive on every level, on every side. So if you support the destructive and violent side of these protests, that's you. But don't tarnish the name of this great man in the process.
Youre slightly missing the point. Obviously rioting is bad, but MLK jr is articulating that he understands why riots happen. When the uneducated and disenfranchised see no alternative they forgo the boundaries of societal norms. There is a distinction between understanding why it is happening and condoning such behavior. He is not condoning the behavior but he is shedding light on why it happens. We all agree its bad, but that shouldnt stop us from trying to see why there is so much anger. But yes, using the quote out of context is disgraceful.
how about instead of caring more about the property damage of riots, you give at *least* as much of a fuck about the deaths and injustices that give rise *to* said riots? Of course not, that would involve giving a tenth of a fuck more than 5% of the time to what happens to other people.
I do care. I emphasize that the ones rioting feel isolated and angry. That they feel their voices aren't being heard. But all the rioting and looting only sets the bar lower for the impoverished community that are trying to be heard. It's self defeating. The black movement of the 60s gave rise to the extreme police brutality of the 80s and 90s. This will do the same. Prejudice views isn't something that can be fixed by flipping a switch. But what riots and looting does is instill prejudice views even deeper into the people of the world watching. This will only give rise to more brutality with this as their reason why. I don't have the cure all answer. No one does. Your views are validated. Your anger is validated. But violence only breeds more violence, in my own opinion.
@M A Ah yes, you're helping the cause soooo much by threatening a person stating a valid point. Let's just dump democracy as well, right. Well, remember - you are not hidden online, [platitude].
He didn't "defeat" them peacefully. Watch the video again ffs 1. if he "defeated" them, then why the fuck are we in such a similar situation now? 2. He was not alone, and was quite clearly backed up by the masses rioting, and with other "violent" liberation activists like Malcom X and the BPP
um MLK was put in jail 29 times and assassinated and he peacefully protested also he didn’t defeat them he was a big part of it but as u see yall will never change so its yall fault that we are doing this

Nicely done. If I had one bit of criticism, it would be that the music at the end could be turned down, as I found it a bit distracting.

The title is intentionally misleading. King said riots were "self-defeating and socially destructive."
He would HOPE that we could avoid it. Promises of freedom and justice have not been met.
