  • This crochet stitch tutorial walks you through how-to crochet the Star Stitch, aka the 5-Spike Marguerite stitch. This tutorial is for when you are working this stitch flat (turning and going back the other direction after each round). In this video, I am using Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn and a 6.5mm hook. For free patterns using this stitch, be sure to check out my blog: craftingforweeks.com.

Best explanation I found on the internet!! Clear and straight to the point unlike the others who take like 20 minutes to explain one stitch. Thank you!

I thought it was a perfect video. I appreciate the more advanced take on a crochet tutorial, not have the person show how to chain, and show how to do the single crochet and then finally (not before 5 minutes into the video) finally explain the main stitch for the tutorial. And it was sorry enough that when I needed reference a certain stage of the stitch I really rewind or fast forward.
    Thank you very much!??👍👍 💻

I also have looked at every star stitch video on You Tube and yours is the best. Very clear instructions. Giving the parts of the stitch names was very helpful. I like that you started with a foundation of single crochets and used the half double crochet on the back row.

Your video and explanation were so much better and easier to follow than some yarn brand instructional tutorials! I tried to follow another and could never get it right. I followed along with you and nailed it the first time! Thank you.

Looked at all star stitch video's, yours is the best by far. Thank you for doing it. I have never subscribed or commented on anything ever and I'm 67, so I was inspired to comment and subscribe. It's beautiful.

I like this tutorial with the hdc for the 2nd row. Looks so much better, to me, than the sc row. Very well explained, I think.

Hello, I watched several videos to learn how to crochet star stitch. Out of all the videos, I have to say yours was the best one fro me. I only wish you continued few star stitches on the third row. Thank you very much. Your yarn looked different, too. I wish there were some information about the yarn. Despite that, I still think your video was the best. Thank you, again.

Hi! Thanks for watching! Sorry about that. If I could add a quick clip to it, I would. But I can help you with the yarn. It’s Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn. It’s has some similarities to a t-shirt yarn. I like to use it for videos because I think it has great stitch definition.

Of all the videos I watched this is the clearest way how to crochet a star stich 😍😍 though it's fast but at least it's clear and very detailed

I love your voice and tutorials. Your voice is so calming that learning new stitch techniques isn’t so intimidating! Can you share what type of material you are doing the star stitch tutorial with? It doesn’t appear to be yarn but I love the results of its product and would like to get some to do new stitch tutorials with. Yarn can sometimes be too fuzzy to see one’s detailed work when learning and to make sure one can clearly see their results when checking their test work next to the correct stitch visual you have presented at the end of each demonstration. Thanks!

How long was your initial chain? Meaning, was it an even number which resulted in an odd number of the single crochet "foundation" chain? Am I understanding that correctly and/or explaining that clearly?

What type of yarn is that you are using? It seems like a good yarn that doesn’t rip or isn’t too fuzzy like the yarn I have.
