I have 2 questions, maybe they're dumb, if they are I apologize. But, maybe you can answer them? 1st.) I have a Studiologic MP117 (keyboard footpedals) with one midi 5 pin port (that's it) if I were to connect it to the midi input port on the ProVSmini would the MP117 act as a controller? [forgive me, I'm a total noob with the I/O midi connections, and really all of this stuff] 2nd.) I already have a Moog Minitaur I'm currently running with the MP117. I've noticed the Moog has one midi 5pin input port too (I think I just answered my 1st question, haha) So I'm sure I can run both units simultaneously with the MP117 and an (in/out/through) hub connector. The Moog only has a midi 5pin input port and a USB-B port. What I was really wondering about though is, would there be some way I could sync the Moog and ProVSmini up with each other and do some cool stuff? I was thinking an adapter cord that went from the USB-B port on the Moog to the micro-USB on the ProVS..? Would that do anything for me? I kind of think the fact that both devices only have midi 5pin input ports (and no output or through ports) is gonna screw me, but I'm not sure. I have been looking online everywhere before I bothered you with this there just isn't any in depth info. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the post; asking questions is a great way of learning. In theory you should be able to connect any device with a midi out to any device with a midi in. If you connected the midi out of the Studiologic pedal to the midi in on the ProVSMini I would imagine that you should be able to send midi note messages from the pedal to the ProVsMini. So again in theory if you did this and pressed a pedal I would imagine that a note would sound on the ProVSMini, though unless you had headphones or have it connected to some speakers you wouldn't hear it. As for directly connecting the USB port of your Moog to the USB port of the ProVSMini; I would say is unlikely to work. With USB Midi you need a Host to connect with. Unless your Moog can act as a USB Midi Host, I don't think that would achieve anything other than possibly away of powering the ProVSMini. The ProVSMini is powered via the USB port. You can connect USB Midi devices together but you need a USB Midi Host normally a computer and software. You could use software on a mobile device to act as a USB Midi Host; though you would then need a USB Hub to accept both USB cables. You can buy devices that act as USB Midi Hosts; you could also use something like a Raspberry Pi and set that to act as a USB Midi Host. If you did connect the Moog Bass synth to the ProVSMini I think that you maybe able to use the keyboard on the ProVsMini to play the Moog; in theory you may also use the ARP or the Sequencer on the ProVSMini to play the Moog. There is a Trs style Sync connector on the ProVSMini. I hope that answers everything.👍

@61KeyAudio TY so much. I really appreciate this. Most ppl with your knowledge think it's beneath them to discuss the basics with beginners. So, I'm doing some deep digging and getting a slightly better understanding now. Neither device has midi out or through so I kinda knew that would be a drawback. As I've learned though the Minitaur does have a GATE port, and as you've said the ProVS has a sequence port. So if I connect the sequencer out of the ProVS to the GATE on the Minitaur I think the ProVS will control the Minitaur. I'm wondering if I can maybe get the ProVS sequencer to make the Minitaur arpegiate? It might just be single note control though, idk yet. At any rate if it works either way, I can avoid using a midi splitter or 1:3 hub (I hope). And yes, USB to USB will only be a power supply for the ProVS, but that's great because it'll eliminate an extra power supply for the ProVS (less junk). I'm going for live performance right now. I'm trying to do 'coffee house' type covers of songs on acoustic 6 & 12 string and classical guitar while I back up w/the synth pedals. I want some to be bright, happy and others to be dark, weird, edgy, using the ProVS - Moog combo. I'm running the Moog into a 1x15 bass combo and the ProVS into a powered PA monitor. I'm trying to keep gear, connections, etc, down to a bare minimum. Again, thanks for the help!

@@phantomko7046 I think Behringer have a euro-rack version of the ProVSMini (Victor I think). I believe it has more inputs & outputs; I think it may even have a Gate.

@61KeyAudio TY so much for that info. I've really done my homework now and have decided with space and budget, the ProVS will be great. From what I've read I can run out of the sequence port on the ProVS into the GATE input on the Minitaur with an adapter cord and get live simultaneous play and ARP on the Minitaur. I can also use the Minitaur to power the ProVS with a usb to usb cord. Hey, you've got a great channel. Keep it up!

@@phantomko7046 Thank you for the kind words. If you find that the Minitaur can't power the ProVSMini I've found that an original Apple charger works to power the ProVSMini via the USB cable.

Thanks for the comment, I'm just getting familiar with how it works, then I will do more videos. It appears to have very strong sounds, I had to reduce the recording volume by 60%. I did a direct recording to my desktop and not via my audio interface. I wonder why they don't put at least one stereo jack on an audio interface? I didn't have a splitter cable.

It's a beautiful little beast. However I prefer to try the micro.

It is a nice little synth with some big sounds. When you say micro do you mean the jt4000?. Thanks for the comment.
