They fixed an issue with the frequency adjustment by semitone. The old firmware didn't retrigger the oscillator when you adjusted its semitone. Now it does retrigger the oscillator.
Hope you receive yours soon. I'm still not sure why the UK seem to have got the first batch though. Share your musical endeavours when you get yours. 😊
Would have been interesting to hear some more sounds with the different modes, couldn't really tell if the original VS character sound is present or not.
The update here has worked on the oscillators, I don’t believe any changes have been made to the filter as that is an analog component that cannot be changed with a firmware update. So I think the JT 4000s filter is what it is. Although I’m sure improvements could be made elsewhere with that little synth.
@@madgear303 they fixed the filter on the pro-800, so I’m sure than can do something with the jt-4000. I’m glad they updated to pro vs mini. It’s a great little synth for only $99

I've done hard A/B comparisons with my mini against my original vs. I'm hoping this new firmware address the most aggregious ones. (Bad oscillator wave editing >loop clicks, and lack of aliasing)
I don't have the Pro VS (although tempting!), but I do have the JT-4000. I'm more hopeful now that Behringer might release a similar firmware update for the JT-4000. Definitely would love to have the Sample and Hold Waveform on the LFO, as well as the ability to modulate the filter frequency with the LFO. Love these tiny inexpensive synths, just fun to experiment with.
Nice one. Love my pro vs mini. Got big problems with my JT-4000 though, to start with it refused to update firmware, even though synth tool told me there was an update available. Now my iPads and my laptops refuse to recognise it exists. My laptops say unknown usb device isn’t functioning right or something of the sort and my iPads refuse to even do that, a few days ago it was working fine with my iPads. So I can only use it with the capacitive keyboard it has built in. And before any asks yes I did a factory reset, which achieved nothing.
Have you updated the synth tribe software. I had to update mine via my Mac. The iPad version of synth tribe does not see it but the latest computer version does.
@@madgear303 I bought a new one that arrived today. And after using my windows ten laptop instead of my windows 7 managed to update the new one. I’m sending the old one back. Just bought a kobol I’m testing now. First impressions it’s very good, especially sweeping the 7 oscillator waveforms with the LFO.
There's two modes iirc. One chops the held notes over the steps it covers. The other just records the first step. Don't hold me to it. Mind hasn't arrived yet.
Reduce it to one osc/vector. And open the filter wide. That belies any oscillator wave issues (bad cycle editing, different wave shape >than vs og, or aliasing >aka sample/bit rate)
Yeah that would be a good idea. Although the synthtribe app is good for saving and backing up patches. I guess there will be a new audience of people using hardware synths for their first time and not know about sysex dumps and saving synth patches.
I have the Behringer Pro VS mini. Am thinking that is the same one from the video.. i saw a video that said Pro VS Soul. Is that the same one? Am trying to update the firmware but the App only shows ver 1.1.1. How do I get version 1.1.5? Or at least 1.1.2 loaded?
Tried to update using Synthtribe software (Win) But now Pro_VS is useless. Got 10% into update and froze up. Pro-VS now has --BOOTLOAD-- displayed on LCD at power on and will not start. Would really like to know how to boot this instrument up before it receives a fix with sledge hammer.
Now my pro vs mini refuses to update. SYNTHTRIBE tells me there is an update but when I try to perform the update it says it failed. And by screen on the pro vs mini says Bootloader and I have to disconnect the usb and re connect as the power button fails to work. Anyone got any ideas?
@@lambd01d have tried that maybe 10 + times and still get the same resaults. Are you on windows or Mac, I’m on windows 7 wondering if my so is to blame, although I updated several other behringer synths in the last week with no problem.

So for those like me that are asking: Where is the firmware update FILE on the website? Behringer has hidden the file in their servers by forcing you to download and use a WINDOWS or MACOS version of the SYNTHTRIBE software that will "fetch" the firmware for you through the specialized program and update the synth for you. ALOT of manufacturers are doing that now forcing you to either use WINDOWS or MACOS to update your gear. If you are using an IPAD, a LINUX or UNIX based computer or device like a raspberry pi, or some such, you are now SOL.. Windows 10 or MAC OS latest or bust. I just got my unit today and noticed I can not place a firmware file in the synth in a file browser on my Linux machine and press a combination of buttons on my synth while powering on to "enter" firmware update mode.. Some synths still allow the end user to do that, but most like Behringer and Arturia and Korg do not.. So if you want to back up your old firmware or have a back up file, you will need to know where the app is downloading the file temporarily during the update download process, but even then.. how will YOU apply it, without the specialized app? Otherwise, great synths!
They are all quite different synths so will have their own sound. 1 uses FM synthesis, 1 uses Vector synthesis and the volca keys use’s subtractive synthesis. Having owned all 3 I sold the volca keys. The Volca keys is the easiest to program but probably the most limiting in its capabilities. The range of sounds capable from a FM synth is incredible but it is quite a difficult synthesis method to get your head around. The quality of the Pro VS and how it sounds is very good. It can cover most sound bases and if I was to only have 1 it would be this especially if I was new to synthesis and you wanted an interesting synth. Go look at some videos and see which one you like the sound of the best.
All three of them are no good! Cheap plastic junk that sounds like cheap plastic junk! I would recommend the Roland S1! It's a real instrument and sounds a thousand times better! The case is better made and is really worth the money 😇

@@dingdong7562 The S1 might be "better" than the volca keys but it's a totally different sound to the FM and the VS so your comment is moot.
