The wave sequencing jam sounds incredible! I used to have a Yamaha SY-22, which used some of the ideas that Sequential Circuits had pioneered on the VS. The two operator FM and simple samples on the SY-22 just didn't have the tonal range of the VS though. The little Behringer sounds way better.
Love your channel, Pete. I’m considering grabbing the Victor module, your demo definitely highlights a lot of great reasons why I might want this desktop version as it sounds massive through effects and is very tweakable and immediate. Cheers!
I got the victor to start my eurorack collection as a good basis for a voice. Still waiting on a sequencer. But with some effects like reverb and delay the eurorack version is very versatile. Altough it only has the joystick and not any oth the other vca, filter and effects stuff the vs pro mini has. Cool jam!
Hi Pete. Sounds very nice. I'm looking forward to the Victor module. I think that having the joystick with CV output is as much of a selling point as the voice itself. That's quite exciting on it's own. Thanks for another great review!
The victor seems like its gonna be pretty awesome. I was thinking of getting a few once I can. Would be really interesting stacking these then running filters and modulation per module
@@666nacirema666 yes. I've just got an Expert Sleepers Disting EX and FH-2 plus expansions. I'd like to run the outputs through the EXs Granulator (it's a lot like Clouds), and send multiple sequences to the V\Oct inputs and LFOs, from the FH-2, to modulate the joystick, then use the joystick CV outputs to modulate filters, other FX and Brains params. I think that there's a lot that can be done!
@@PeteMidi I reckon Behringer will do that if theres a possibility in the architecture. They seem pretty good at firmware upgrades. They did a good job improving the wavetables by the looks of it. Is the filter analog or digital? If digital, they could possibly even increase the filter count to one per voice. I have a suspicion that it's analogue though - I'm sure I read that somewhere. I'm not sure if the victor has a filter. I don't think so. It's a good price for an oscillator with the functionality that it has, even though it's about the same price as the VS Pro with 4 voices and a filter.
@@666nacirema666 I wonder, if you send the X/Y CV outs from one into the next, and from that into the next again and so on, would the joystick of the first Victor in the chain then control the vectors of all downstream Victors? Seems like it should...
With my Polyend Tracker as a sequencer and SP404 mk2 as a recorder and a Zoom CDR 70 as external effect this could be just the synth I want. I owned a Wavestation EX back in the day.
Just got mine (a suprise, since last week it suposed to be couple month wait). I really like it. I think that its paraphonic nature makes it intereting and different. Also, while the joystic don’t send midi (unfortunately) it is really great for real time performance - it’s fun and enables very quick and modern sounding „glitches”. I would love it to have a big jack output:)
Thank you for recording this through an audio interface instead of a cell phone mic! I wonder if one can port over tweaked patches from the iProphet/Arturia
Isn't it great! I bought this at the same time it was released, played with it for a week, then left it alone. But now I feel like giving it another go.
I just wish it had portamento and monophonic mode. I LOVE how much quieter it is compared to the Volcas. My Keys is barely usable because of free white noise oscillator it comes with.
What a great review and demo! I am about to get my first synthesizer for some (if possible.. DAW-less) first trials in chill-lofi-ambient sounds.. I really would like to get a Minifreak, but given that I just start, I thought spending a bit less and get familiar with synths, this Behringer would be a good choice. Now I found out about the Roland Aira S-1, and I am totally confused, what might be the best to start... S-1 has built-in effects, which the Pro VS does not have.. But may I ask whats your opinion on the "best synth to start with"? Pro VS Mini or the S-1... lateron I will definitely get a Minifreak, at least thats the plan:-) Thanks!
@@PeteMidi Great, thanks for the quick response. Really interesting to hear from an expert, I thought it would be the other way round. Then I guess I will look for a good offer for the Roland S-1🙂
I guess the Behringer micro series is even cheaper, currently the Jt-4000 is available for half of the price of a mini. But for me too much of a toy. The mini for me is already a full-fledged synthesizer...
Непонятно как это всё происходит. Магия звука. Видимо, пока не подержишь в руках, будет непонятно. Но я уже заказал этого малыша и буду изучать его возможности. Благодарю за хорошее демо.
Hi Pete, do you know if it supports velocity or aftertouch control via midi? I've been curious, but can't seem to find any definitive information on that point.
Hi, it does support midi velocity which is mapped to amplitude in a fixed setting. You have to adjust the velocity sensitivity/curve at the external keyboard or sequencer. You can hear velocity sensitivity to external midi in the last demo track. No aftertouch at the moment.
By *FAR* the best demo of the Pro-VS 🧡
Thank you so much! 😊
With external equipments and software. This is not a demo for me, not even a features description, no interest in my own case.
amazing. i kind of spaced out durng the demo into the netherworld.
😊
Great tip about changing the waves via MIDI, thanks - that opens up a whole lot of possibilities!
Thanks for the nice feedback! 😊
Most enjoyable as always Pete!

You’ve made this sound exceptionally deep and complex

SY-22 owner here, a shame the SY-22 has no filter, but the Vector Motion Recording is nice ;-)
Beautiful demo, The real Spirit of this VS Synthesiser like Tangerine Dream .....>

I got my pro vs a while back Im really enjoying it.

Just awesome. I this my wife is getting me one for Father’s Day 😊

I enjoyed the music in particular, nice review.
Thanks a lot! 😊
You're getting some great sounds out of it!
Thanks a lot! 😊
For sure! I'd like to hear it with Nunomo's Qun mk2's sequencer. Have you played with the Qun mk2?@@PeteMidi
Oh, I overlooked this seq, will check it...
Qun has some really interesting capabilities, in more than one area. It's also a granular synth, an FM synth, a VA, and a looper.@@PeteMidi
Your jams are very hypnotic Pete 14:19
Thanks a lot! 😊
Those pads sound amazing.

Wav seq jam -> amazing!

Might be a good adition to a circuit track, where midi can be controlled with a patch

Is this the cheapest hardware poly/para synth on the market? I already have an nts-1 (mono) but looking for something that can do chords...

For the first demo track I used the internal arpeggiator.
sound like rezo from underword so amazing thid thing
