  • In this video I am talking about my first experience of shooting portraits in a studio (as a photographer). I decided to take my analog Leica M6 and a roll of ILFORD HP5 black & white film with me.
    Don't forget to visit the Instagram accounts of my friends that you have seen in the video. They have fantastic galleries.

    Great video. Which flash trigger were you using for your Leica?

    • @TheMPhotography
      @TheMPhotography  5 лет назад +1

      I used a trigger from Broncolor. Needs to be either flash specific or universal (cactus). In principle the M6 should be able to communicate with most triggers with middle contact since it has a hot shoe.

      The M Photography Thanks for the reply. Just curious, can your shutter speed be faster than 1/50? Or does it have to be on the lightning bolt (m6ttl)

      @TheMPhotography  5 лет назад

      @@flannelcommander I don't own a M6TTL so I am hesitant to answer for the TTL version. The classic M6 needs the 1/50s flash sync speed. I tried one photo with 1/125s and almost half of the frame was black.

      The M Photography Ah ok. That makes sense. Thanks for the response. Going to try off camera flash this week with strobes

    Danke für das tolle Video. Weisst du, ob auf einer Leica M10-P alle gängigen Trigger / Blitzsysteme funktionieren? Oder gibts etwas, was man beachten muss? Möchte möglichst offenblendig abdrücken.

    Wants to know, what trigger flash that you used for the Leica M6?

    Never be overwhelmed by large and fancy priced equipment! I found, most of the portraits look like you are 'car headlights!' Practice at home with a reading lamp or two! Candlelight can be very beautiful. I hate studio lighting. We Got the Sum, bubba! Pleased I seen it. Oh, I had a studio, electronic flash, umbrellas, whatever.

    What iso and f -stop for studio?

    • @TheMPhotography
      @TheMPhotography  4 года назад +1

      The ISO was defined by the film I was using. Which in that case was an ILFORD HP5 black & white film with an ISO rating of 400. The shutter speed was given by the Leica M6 flash sync speed; which is fixed to 1/50s. I shot at f/5.6 - if I remember correctly. So the flash power hat to be configured accordingly.

      @@TheMPhotography I've shot digital in the studio but always wondered about film, let alone leica. Usually for digital I would just drop the iso to lowest possible, usually 100, f8, and sync speed. Usually get good results. But easy to dial in vs film. Thanks for the quick reply! You rock!

    Oh, I love this one! I was scared to see it online but these are such nice memories. You did very well - I hardly enjoy photographs others take of me but I really appreciate your images. And your portraits of Rob were awesome as well. Thank you for sharing and also featuring Mingus in the end. I want to publicly state that I was drunk. Quite drunk. Looking forward to our next session!
    Best wishes - your exhausted neighbor.

      I have to thank you for the superb session and for giving me the opportunity to experience studio photography for the first time. You were an amazing model as well! And Mingus had to be in there. But had to hide him a bit, so that nobody accuses me of click-baiting ;-)
