    I have to admit, I did not understand what Leica was thinking, when I first heard of a digital camera without displays.
    Over the years and especially by starting film photography I now have the answer to my irritation. They were much niecier and came from another perspective, than me, who bought his first own camera (a Canon S2IS) in 2004 and started with this into photography.
    Now I have the same problem, as always. I would like to have this camera, but I don’t want to pay for it. 😅
    But maybe in 10 years, when the house is paid off. 😂
    Thanks for the video. ❤😊

    Thank you for the video, and I congratulate you for the longevity of owning and using such a nice camera. I am trying to implement that same mindset with my own camera gear, it seems like in todays rat race for extra features and megapixel counts that we dispose and overlook good cameras that we own just to chase for the newer and shiny stuff. Great photos as well. Cheers 🍻

    I’d love an M10 with no screen in the same vein as the M-D. It’s a great idea. I would have loved to have picked one up but ended going the analogue route. It’s a beauty. All these lcd photographers that couldn’t use a film camera if they were paid to.

    Great video and I couldn't agree more... I have a M10 Monochrom and an M9 Monochrom. Originally I wanted to sell the older camera when I got the (used) M10M, but for whatever reason this sale never materialized. Now I am coming more and more back to the M9M and really enjoy the images that I can take with this 12 year old CCD camera. To an extent that I am actually already doubting if I need the capabilities of the M10M (let alone the M11M that I tested...).

    Coming from shooting strictly film, then during covid with film prices so high, I was thinking of pick up a digital m, or Sony so I could scan plus still use m glass, to end up with x100v for the last four years. I honestly can tell you I had a blast with it. This year, I'm starting to get excited about photography again and wanted to get a digital m for sure this time. Had hopes on the m10, then thought of the m10d because it would suit my shooting style, but my god that thing is expensive. To finally landed on the m11. Still quite expensive for my blood, but I believe my passion for photography in the end is worth it. I plan to keep it for years and years to come.

      @@TheMPhotography I feel like before making this decision, a lot of people still prefers the m10 series over the m11. But to me, I was thinking long term, with the USB-C charging (coming from x100v) I just couldn't live without, plus all the features, and no bottom plate wasn't a big deal for me. But 60mp might be a little too much for me so it's nice you could go down to 36mp. But what I should have really done more was research further before the purchase because there's quite a few problems like freezing which I've not experienced, but hope I won't notice it.

I am thinking of trading in the SL2-S in for an M10-D, if I can find one. Your video has convinced me to keep looking. More parroting. You say gear doesn't matter and then talk about why Leica is the wrong choice in all your comments. Which is it?

    I disagree totally! The real Joy of Digital is insant viewing! Chimping! I need to se the lighting, the angles and look of image! Why wait for poor results? It's free compared to National Cash Register, Ringing up sales every shutter release! a digital camera without view is well dubious! Same reasons I hate Large format! I want to know, NOW! @SourPlanet Месяц назад +1

      No, they wouldn't. If you can't tell the difference between a Summicron and a point and shoot Ricoh, that's on you.
      It's also irrelevant. Did you watch the video AT ALL? The entire point is to trim the process down to the bare essentials to engage in a specific way with the act of photography itself. So sick of this comment on every single Leica video. Parrots never understand what they repeat.

    • @SourPlanet
      @SourPlanet Месяц назад

      No they wouldn't. But that's irrelevant. The video is 100% about using the gear which feels right-- neither of those cameras operate anything like the M-D.

    • @Racsophoto
      @Racsophoto Месяц назад

      I guess that from a technical point of view, this images cannot be obtained with the mentioned cameras because does not look to be the focal range he’s using and neither the aperture of any of the mentioned cameras or the full frame sensor. Nevertheless, from a vulgar point of view, I would say yes; the “Leica look” can be obtained with other gear if you have the skills and patience to edit a photo. I do understand that the point here is more a sense of reward and fulfilment of getting those pictures trying to master the gear. It’s like working harder to get a picture. I cannot afford a Leica but I try to do the same with a Fujifilm Xpro-3 and manual focus lenses. It’s about the experience to me. Maybe some enjoy to be closer to analog photography without selling a kidney or do not have the patience or taste for manual post processing of analog film. But in the end I do agree: experience aside, those pictures could have been taken with (i.e) a Sony a7c.

      @@TheMPhotography me too, I shoot many different film formats and digital to gain money. I see absolutely no single reason to buy a digital camera without an lcd screen, especially at that price point. In this case, we could also limit the camera to 1GB cards and 36 shots…
      Cartier Bresson gave his films to his favorite film lab in Paris to make them develop, dodge and burn but without any cropping. That was his spirit and the spirit of many professional photographers, journalists and even amateur photographers who enjoyed taking pictures and viewing them once printed.
      Digital killed that spirit and removing the viewfinder won’t offer this experience anyways. Digital offers different advantages but shooting RAW or processed JPEGS without any preview or printing them directly without any additional editing will never offer the same experience as film.
      Honestly in this case, just take an M9 and shut the screen off or put some black cardboard on it…
      Also, Leica cameras use the same Sony sensors as Nikon, Sony and the other brands.
      The only digital cameras that offer something special and different in terms of colors are Sigma Foveon cameras. It’s a hassle to develop the RAW files but results are extremely impressive in terms of color depth and textures.
