Awesome video, I have scrap wood and also a rug that I was about to throw away, I'm definitely building a cat tree. Thank you so much for this very helpful video.
I love this video and it looks like a nice solid cat tree. Very neat use to older piece of wood. I've been looking to build one myself. Just finished a large catio and want to make some cat trees for inside it. My only tip is that the rope you're using looks like it's synthetic? Can be bad for cats who might lick the fibers out from their claws and ingest them. The synthetic fibres will damage their stomach and digestive tract. For safety reasons, sisal rope is the go-to for scratching posts for cats, generally. :) Still love the vid though and your cat looked so happy playing in his(her?) new bed! Awesome stuff.
@@AlleyPicked I believe the best rope to use is natural sisal rope. I got some on Amazon a few months ago to replace the sisal on our cat trees. Just be sure to read reviews and avoid sisal that's treated with chemicals. Loved your DIY video though it turned out beautifully!!
Thanks for the info. I made that video awhile back. My cats, now 2, didnt really like the synthetic rope. They mostly avoided it. They tore up the thin carpet I used on the poles. That was my first cat tree so yes, there are some changes I would make next time. Thank you for the feedback. Tom
@@AlleyPicked I didn't realize till after commenting that the video was from 2 years ago. You still did a really great job for being the first time. Sometimes it just takes a little trial and error! :)
Nice tree. My friends tiny dog (about 5 #) somehow figured out how to get onto the cat tree. She found the dog there, with the cats, all the time. Maybe your pup has now figured it out. :)
Your video is awesome. I was looking for videos on how to replace the carpet on a scratched up cat tree but really couldn't find anything, cat trees are expensive and I thought replacing it myself would be cheaper, then I realized I don't have the tools or experience to do it. You make it look so easy, have you ever thought of starting a business repairing worn out cat furniture? People just end up throwing them out cause there isn't anywhere they can take them to have them repaired which is crazy! someone should of thought of this year's ago.
I like your thinking. I am always fixing things for friends and family. Not sure repairing cat furniture would pay my mortgage :-) Thanks for watching!
Mostly the point of these videos are to show What can be accomplished with the Scrap materials you May have laying around. Simple enough. Negative too much !
@@AlleyPicked lol!! I dumpster dive and stop for curb alerts!!! You can NEVER have too many tools or too much wood. My father taught me that. When I was 3. I'm now 403 so I guess its in-grained. Pun intended!!
Usage of glue or hot glue would be better than using too much nail on it. It might hurt their nails while they're scratching but other than that. That one hell of a cat tree. Congrats.
Nice simple design but I am concerned by the lack of safety gear when cutting the wood. Splinter in the eye can be extremely disconcerting. Likewise the noise is not crash hot for the older ears. That being, I am still going to nick your design. Thanks. 👍
Question: what size length to cut 4x4's? And what type of wood is the 3 pieces made of?. Thank you in advance 😀 loved this project going to build one for my cat baby. 🐱
The 4x4's can be any length. I'm not sure but I think mine were 2 feet each. I made the 3 flat pieces using some scrap 3/4" plywood. You can change anything to suit your preference. Good Luck.
Sorry, I just made the one for my cat :-) They do sell cat trees of all kinds at pet supply stores. Besides, shipping it would be very costly. Thanks for watching.
Carpet isn't such a good idea. The carpets are woven with a nylon string attached, and the cats can easily scratch that out of the carpet, and in worst case get it around their neck. Use sisal rope or sisal carpet instead.

Hope it goes well. Mine needs some repair. I used cheap carpet on the posts and the cat tore it up pretty quickly.
Beautiful cat tree and cat!

Thanks for the nice comments and the good tip about the rope!
Yes, thanks for the rope tip......3 days to late for me, but next build i will remember this

I love it. Can we see the kitty play more please.
Thanks .. I was wanting to fine something simple.. and easy.
Great video! It's nice that you were able to incorporate your Mum's macramé cord into the project. :)
This was amazing
love the cat condo, you should add some hanging toys too.

Fun to watch!
Wow! Awesome! Now I just need to go buy the power tools, wood pieces, carpeting, and rope!! Looks like a lot of fun to make!!!
Sarcasm much?

Simple yet brutiful beautiful but easy
I'd love the set up you've got! I've got this thing for power tools. Any tools!! Anyway, thanks for making this vid. Hi to the 🐈!
I have too many tools myself. I have a bad habit of going to estate sales.

Cool love the cheap ideas
Awesome!!
Good job....
that was sick

Safety 🚔 police in the house 🏠
This cat tree looks great but, it would take me forever to make.

I’ll just buy one then
Cool. But what if you don't have the fancy power tools?
Remfy the cat: an old school hand saw and hammer will do
ask somebody to lend it to you or rent them. they are useful, try to buy the,m.
Most "Big Box" home improvement centers will custom cut plywood for you. Some even have half and quarter sheets already cut down.
Ive build one similar to this and found if you don’t glue down the edges the carpet will fray but maybe you were lucky
I wish I was this handy😩
Gotta start somewhere. Maybe make a small one?
Awesome! :0)
Did I miss how you attached to the base?
how long is the four by four.
I cant remember exactly but I think each segment was about 30". The total height was about 5'. You can make it whatever height you desire.
The weird thing about this video. Why are there only two comments
Because people started watching it then just went on line a bought one
Can you make me one for my baby Budsey 😍😄how much it cost
Sorry, I just made the one for my cat :-) They do sell cat trees of all kinds at pet supply stores. Besides, shipping it would be very costly. Thanks for watching.
Please are you selling them
Thank you for your videos very helpful but please put some safety goggles on it's just not worth it
How tall are the beams?
I made mine 44" but you can make it taller or shorter.
As tall as You want them !
What size are the posts
They are 4"x4". Standard from any lumber yard.

intro song name?
Can't remember. I think I got it off of the go-pro camera app called QUIK.
I am sure it could be improved. Check out the plans on the Stodoys website.
