[2004 HONDA CIVIC EX] Can't tell you how helpful this video was in solving my issue. The dealer wanted $1400 (parts and labor) and O'Reilys wanted $850 (part only). Amazon had the part for $60 but not 100% compatible but got the job done. Thank you again and highly recommend anyone who needs a cheap fix

I was able to remove the cylinder with this method, even better for me the pin went out by itself! The cylinder poped out on its own and cost me 70$ to fix at the locksmith!!! It's already back on and running smoother than ever! All in the same day!
One year ago I had the same problem and it cost me close to 800$ to fix and three days without my car!

You are the man! This repair worked as advertised. Once I drilled a small depression where you suggested, the lock assembly just popped out on it's own, since it was spring loaded. Why it works, I do not know. The locksmith here in NW Florida charged 40 dollars to repair the lock cylinder. I destroyed the first cylinder trying to fix it. A replacement from UHS in Miami was purchased for 30 dollars including shipping. Thank you again. Video has all you need to know. Be very careful with that lock roll PIN. It came out on it's own, too and is difficult to see and find once it gets loose.

Thanks for the video, watched a couple from others as well. Just fixed my 06 pilot using your techniques. Saved $215 not buying the entire assembly. Didn't bother going to lock smith. Once I got the cylinder out I removed that top arm thingy, then a small hole was drilled to allow access to drive the pin out holding the end of the cylinder together. Pull the lock apart and it was easy to see which wafer had failed. Pulled that wafer out along with it's matching pair, cleaned everything up and reassembled. Worked great ZERO COST! Awesome! There is like 10 wafers in there, removing 2 of them is no biggie.

All the wifers got number on them, just to make sure you’ve putting back the same wifers.
If you’ll remove all of them, you’ll be able turn the ignition cylinder with the screw driver, but you won’t be able to start the car because of the immobilizer.

    • @silverecco
      @silverecco 8 месяцев назад +1

@leonstitanium8377 as your remove more and more wafers more keys will work. there are some number of standard water sizes (such as 1-9) and they correspond to cuts in the key. you can get sets (or singles) of replacement wafers but a new wafer may not play nice with a worn key. usually they wear at the same rate. sometimes you can replace a wafer with a different size than original to match the new key shape better. these Hondas have security chips in the key, so even if you removed all 10 wafers and could just turn the cylinder with a screwdriver, you still couldn't start the engine without a programmed key. thus most people don't really care about removing wafers and technically lowering security. it's more of an issue with the door locks since they also wear out but don't utilize the key's chip. remove half of the wafers and probably at least half of these type Honda keys will open the door. may not be a problem where you live. thieves aren't walking around with rings of Honda "tryout" keys they just smash the window lmao.

I have bought a few hondas with this problem. I do it this way and reach back to the switch with a screwdriver and drive them home to fix the cyl. The wafers inside get bent. To program a door remote for a 2005 Honda Civic, follow these steps:
      ### Preparation:
      1. **Ensure all doors are closed and the ignition is off.**
      2. **Have all remotes you want to program ready.** You will need to program all remotes during this process.
      ### Programming Steps:
      1. **Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position.**
      2. **Press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on the remote.**
      3. **Turn the key to the OFF position.**
      4. **Repeat steps 1-3 two more times (for a total of 3 cycles).**
      5. **On the fourth cycle, turn the key to the ON position.**
      6. **Press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on the remote. The door locks should cycle to indicate the vehicle has entered remote programming mode.**
      7. **Press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on each remote you wish to program.** Make sure to press the button on each remote within 10 seconds of each other.
      8. **Turn the key to the OFF position to exit programming mode.**
      ### Final Step:

For $100 the kit came with more lock tumblers than I wiil ever need and I used nine more to repair the worn key switch on the steering wheel. Best $100 I ever spent. Well, I have to say, the extraction part certainly worked on my 2004 Honda Civid. I didn't even have a proper metal drillbits, just a "regular" for-wood bit worked just fine, with a little extra effort (as long as you don't care about grinding it off). I started with 1/32" size, and my tunnel was a bit sideways. After switching to 1/8" bit, the lock's core just popped out by itself as soon as I hit the pin (which dropped out on the floor, w/o too much damage). The spring and the "bulleye" are just resting in their designated place.

Nifty ! VERY similar is a 2007 pilot. Just remove the wafers from the cylinder or at least the bad ones, its pretty easy to tell by playing around with the removed naked cylinder, they come right out. Perhaps leaving at least 2 that function fine just to help grip the key is a good idea. On mine, it was the mid to outer ones acting up & I only left the very rear pair after cleaning everything well. That electronic PCB ring requires the key even though you could turn the lock with just about anything, if you remove all of the wafers. Why chance another one acting up later on ? & even if that wasn't the case, who would know ? I guess unless you live in like thE worst neighborhood. But you do indeed need the actual key on these systems anyway. That 3rd rear screw is a bit tricky(a 90deg small offset driver is needed) but it is essentially a FREE 1 hour(ish) fix.
