    And all those little stones painted beautifully. Amazing how many the roller picks up.

    Had a large dash job to do so bought Wagner Pro 350m airless sprayer. Masking up took time but I’ll never go back to rolling again.

    Thanks for this, I’m on one at the moment and it’s even heavier than that, tried watering down and putting through a cheap sprayer to no avail, will crack on with it on Monday, weather’s crap for exteriors at the mo, great work as always 👍 🖌

    As a decorator, i will never attempt to paint pebbledash without an airless sprayer EVER again.

      I would imagine it would be a great job to spray dash and quickly roll it ..

    Ohhh pebble dash.... did my own extension from new last year. Had it rendered with sand and cement to mimick pebbledash to match existing house.... my god the first coat onto bare sand and cement render after pre dealing with stabilising solution was a tedious task. Even watered down by I’d say a good 20% was hard going as the texture was so heavy. Got through 2 sheepskin rollers! 🤨🤨 turned out lovely in the end though. Used Sandtex magnolia. Good stuff!

    I’m half way through 180sqM of pebbledash going from cream to white. It’s a painstaking job and always tempting to skip the brush and just go with the roller but that’s a mistake I made in the past and never again. For anyone building the courage to tackle it my advice would be to thin the paint as far as you dare so it runs a little and fills the dents and hollows more easily. If ever the phrase slap some paint on was appropriate then painting pebbledash would be that time. It’s a splattery job so sheet up properly and be prepared to plod at it because it ain’t gonna be a quick job.

      Thanks for the tips. I'm starting Tuesday and must admit I'm quite looking forward to it as I'm SO fed up looking at magnolia!! I know it ain't gonna be easy mind....

      @@SuccessShared Best of luck. A decent long pile roller, a 4” and a 2” brush and plenty of tea and biscuits will see you right 👍🏻. Take your time, break it into chunks and be prepared to get a bit bored of it but stick it out and you’ll be chuffed to bits with it when you see the difference.👍🏻. I’d love to hear how you get on 🙂.

      @@tonyalways7174 I'm grateful for your positive comments thank you. My wife would rather I leave it until next year, but I'm adamant I'm going to get it done now especially after we had new soffits and gutters installed. I'm going in.... tea and biscuits at the ready!! Will do my best to keep you up to speed with progress thanks

    Nice 1…just painted my garage walls yday with Sandtex smooth masonry paint…used a 4” block brush for borders or cutting in n long pile roller….very hard work even with bit of water added to the paint I just brushed it down n got rid of loose paint pebbled first but as you showed the pebbles come off with roller still. Not a job I’d do in a hurry again…liked n subbed!!🧐👀😉👍🏼

    Did you put stabiliser solution before applying masonry paint as this helps the paint cover a lot better to avoid all them air holes

    1 neat coat of smooth masonry paint, floated on with a Purdy Collussus roller should be ample You don't put too much pressure otherwise you will lift those stones.Just use loads of paint to seal holes and cracks ,this will bind up loose stones and leave a great finish.1 thick coat and finished.Done a semi detatched house all pebbledashed (never painted before.)Gave 1 coat (24 x5 litre tins used) Been backed to look after 5 years and is still looking great and customer really happy.I never use 2 coats unless there is a complete colour change.

      Render should be waterproof anyway colour is only added to make it look better. But two coats will always last longer if it's down to bare. thanks.

    A coat of pva watered down well .then spray the wall saves a lot of time as I learned to my benefit .done it the way shown here and that’s fine and correct but sprayed just makes life a little easier

    What paint can I use to paint concrete posts gravel boards and wooden fence the same colour ?

  • @PaulMappud
    @PaulMappud 2 года назад

    That would be a back scuttle then, the way it's hung on the ladder.
    I'm using a rough shag roller but it's not staying fluffy like yours, it's just going flat when the paints loaded on it, like it's a foam roller, any tips, cheers.

    • @PaintingandDecorating
      @PaintingandDecorating  2 года назад +1

      Could be a cheap sleeve and sometimes down to the paint.. trick in when applying allow roller to open up... when loading don't allow it to flatten out too much. Thanks

    What did you use to "glue" the small pebbles back to the wall ?

  • @michaelmckeary1165

    My first coat is like milk so it gets into everything, all I'm doing is trying to seal it. The second coat is the performance coat so I use expensive paint.

    Great job,do you ever wash the pebble dash down first or straight on with the paint?

    • @Jafmanz
      @Jafmanz 3 года назад +1

      I doubt he washed it down. You can tell by the amount of algae and lichen sat in the dash pockets. I always treat the wall first to kill it all off, give it some days to work.., then if the wall is suitably dressed I pressure wash it. My walls look painted before I paint them.

    At work we use pliolite on stones. I was wondering how it compares to masonry paint (which ive never used), if anyone has an opinion on both

    • @jubbaronny
      @jubbaronny Год назад

      I’m currently on with applying pliolite paint to my pebble dash and it’s a bastard job. Stones coming off by the dozen, stones getting stuck in the roller that won’t come out as the paint is so thick etc etc. I’ve had 2 sessions and binned 2 rollers and a brush so am waiting for a prolonged period of dry weather so I can have at least a full day at a time on it. Is it possible to thin the paint at all, possibly with white spirit?

  • @Jafmanz
    @Jafmanz 3 года назад +5

    By the time you've loaded your roller, wiped your roller, painted the wall, put your roller down, picked up your brush, wiped your brush, repainted where you just painted with the roller you could have just used a 6 inch masonry brush.
    Anyone who uses a roller on dashed walls is a cowboy and that's a fact!

    • @jsj381

      No mate there are rollers now are made for this plus a brush of course. Fossa masonry roller is a life saver I've used it on 3 houses with very rough cast.
