Thanks for your tips on painting rough walls outside. I am at the tearing my hair out stage! One enormous property on three floors and I still cannot build this blasted 'scaffolding tower' that I treated myself to. Hey-ho, I wanted to save money, but.............. Thank God the weather is grand. Okay, off now up the shaky ladder! (Oops, just saw the ending of your video and I think that I'll just have myself a B&H before I get cracking!)
I always roll the first coat and get as close to the edges as possible it makes the cutting in easier and fingers crossed ready for a second roll once you finished cutting in, also it might not need cutting in again in some cases, you know this anyway keep up the good work love your vids 👍🐱🏍👌
@@clintmannion5598 Use a pressure washer. That would pull it off. Use low flow and high pressure to prevent drenching the area. Many thanks for your advice, much appreciated. I’ve since painted my pebbled dashed garage which has quite a deep texture which means there’s little pin pits where the brushed and rollered paint hasn’t really penetrated deep enough. Do you think I should be concerned about that? Kind regards Bill
Good video mate. I'm thinking of painting my house exterior. My old man was a painter and decorater so did a bit with him a s a boy. Only thing is my house is rough casted, never seen paint and I think I'll be biting off more than I can chew.

Long pile Hamilton from tool station less than £5. Dulux trade paint weather shield from travis £22. 2 coats on my rough cast and it looks great. Went from dirty grey colour to magnolia and it’s pucker.
Great job Candleman !! Any tips for masonry paint into new concrete render? A mate said a coat of pva first ? And maybe plenty thinners on the first cost ? Any help appreciated mate !
How do you get a neat straight line between two terrace house that has pebbledashed but do not want to get paint on the neighbours pebble dashed walls?
Buddy I've just taken on another exterior job. Heavy rendering so you can imagine the state or the long pile after a days graft. Filled with stones and looking worth for itself. I've always used an "extra long pile sleeve" from screwfix but never lasts very long. 1 job maybe. What brand/pile sleeve you use for heavy rendering?
Have you any suggestions how I can get a straight line when I’m painting my pebble dash wall on the part where it is semi detached to the neighbours? I can’t think of a way to get perfect straight line
Hi do the walls need washing down first? I'm going to be doing a similar job on a house that I'm moving into and I have zero experience, but it's a lot less to paint then what you did in this video.
Yes, it needs a proper treatment, otherwise you will end up with algae and mould behind the paint. It's not just about the green. At every outside wall you might have dust, dust from the cars' exhaust, algae or maybe mould. Usually a good painter is applying the paint on a clean surface. Cowboys are painting on any surface. Last year I had an industrial inside job with grease dirty blistering paint on steel beams in a beer factory. Couldn't use the pressure washer, had to use caustic soda to clean the grease, after that wire brushes and attachments of every type. Full face mask, scraped off paint in a closed container. Sanding machine attached to vacuum, all the gears 110 volt. You need knowledge and data mining, not just a brush, a roller and a trades diploma to become a painter. BTW he is a good guy, but he can't cope with the new standards. Probably learnt the methods 100 years ago.
@@antallaczko8793 I can assure you this shoddy workmanship would've been called the same 100 years / 50 years ago as it is today! CRAP!! He probably thinks the only reason to clean the wall is to keep the dirt off his brush!

Everywhere online states painting new tyrolean - leave it a few days before painting for first time. What's a few days lol. 2 is a couple .... 3? 4?. What's a few?
masonry paint traps water as its plastic. stops the wall from breathing, water gets in when blasted with rain but gets trapped in the mortar and then wants to come out.
Hiya how's it going. A question for you. I've been arguing with this painter on RUclips he goes under the name of ( painting and decorating) he's been miss coating bare plaster work with pva and I keep replying saying this is wrong and should always miss coat with a thinned down contract paint. So I thought I'd ask the man! You've done plenty of new builds what do you think?
DJA 67 Well me old cocker, I’d do it the way you said why would you use pva it’s more expensive for a start. I see no reason why you would use it & i do not know any that has. Merry Christmas 🎄 The Candleman 🕯☕️🚬
Move the paint pot under where you are going to roll, saves a lot of time and mess. Cut in after you have rolled the main area. Why don't you seal the wall with unibond PVA first?
paul ford Maybe you should just get a sense of humour, or are you on antidepressants as well, If you are going to do it , do it and stop 🛑 talking about it
Sandtex recommend using a fungicidal wash before painting otherwise mould / growths will come through the paint.
I had the volume up as you just started cutting in around the gutter and that loud blue flash scared the life out of me 😂
Just bought a tub of masonary paint, thanks for the demo. Very helpful for a first timer.

Unless you put stucco over the vine marks, it will show under the paint

Good job gorgeous lol.more vidssssss please.for Xmas
good quality paint and the finished is perfect enjoy the video
Like that ladder with the handrails but have to admit I hate painting render, great vid 👍
Solid job candleman. I used to do it that way for years. Now i spray and back roll. Faster and easier on the shoulders.
Great video .
Good to see you did it properly getting full coverage first coat. Nothing extra needed.
Good job as always candle man don't worry the vid was not boring to us keep up the good work your painting buddy in the states.
i'd love to see a video on how you work out how much paint you need for a job. great video as always
Great job as always.
Where can I get the original heavy duty dust sheets,as the new ones are not made like they use to be. Cheers 👍
What about the dead ivy on the wall?
Wouldn't you jet wash the wall first ? 🤔
The pebbles fall off if you jet wash.
@@wormwood6424 if it’s blown it needs to come off best way is with a jet wash

How many coats do you do mate?
Is that tyrolene?...if it is it’s a tough render to paint.
Used to do it on a few schools around the country. You did a first class job of it lad.
If you roll side ways you wouldn't need to cut the bottom in and it won't flick

Mate try a Hamilton perfection extra long pile roller sleeve they are bang on for that and last a long time
Do you not need stabiliser solution first before painting on old masonry paint ?
depends if its all powdery to the touch then yes. but if its sound and you can tell just from running your hand over the surface.

Just use a plumb line and mark a straight line and do it by eye or you can temporarily screw a batton to the wall and paint down it
Frog tape

Look at the years of dirt on that wall . Must cut down on time away from the pub .
nice that you left that organic matter on the wall, when it decomposes it will create an air pocket and the paint will flake off.

Why would you apply Pva, when you have a better binder in the paint. If you want to extend the drying time Pva is OK, otherwise it's nonsense
