- My process for fixing, patching and painting rendered walls. From scraping out hairline cracks and damage, to patching with exterior filler. I'll walk you through rolling out textured paints, and my technique to make sure you're getting good coverage and a decent finish.

Awesome tips Josh! It would be great to have a shot of the finished product as your videos are ending. Internal repaint, rendered wall etc. I'm sure the finished product would look mint and it would finish the videos off really good.

Farkin Brilliant Josh. I'm attempting to fix a balls up by an owner on the side of a garage. I had thought of using Cabots Decking and exterior paint as the Dulux rep said the Dulux Texture can't be tinted..... I think the difficulty I'm going to have is I will need to paint the whole side of the house as the colour in the render is faded to varying degrees 😮
Love you work mate....I always say painting and plastering is true art..... you can put make up on a face vand look like a model or you can come out looking like a Freddy Kruger.😂

@@paintingbyjosh one of the new hires was just telling me like about the s*** called texco that is like a textured paint product I've never heard it or seen it used in the 10years I've been painting..

What type of roller are you using?
Great stuff mate. I've got a sh*t load of veins & cracks that have formed on the rendered front courtyard & side dividing walls of our 17 year old house, & i'm definitely NOT looking forward to all the prep work required! Gone out & purchased the products you're using here from my local Dulux store as i've got an account being a signwriter. Saving a few bucks but again, not looking forward to the prepping! Cheers for the tips in this vid mate.

interesting , always assumed id have to remove paint to patch render, ive seen triangular scrapers before not knowing what they were, i use hand tools all the time but now i know what that one is for.

Hey Josh, loving the vids! Would love your opinion on patching cracks on a rendered blueboard wall. I've scraped out the cracks [Most are about 3mm] but torn between using a filler to patch as you've done in this vid or better to caulk? [Then paint with texture coat]. I expect there will be future movement in the blueboard and the filler will recrack quicker? Or if I need to also use a gap tape? Thanks mate..

Why did you apply the primer before the filler?
I'm impressed with your thorough repair of the wall and detailed description of what you're doing and why. If you were in NZ you'd be the guy I wanted to do work on my place!. Cheers
It's only a band aid fix , what people are not told over time the house moves about half an inch a year on foundation, knowing that the cracks will come back over time some where else on your house , I use to do solid rendering,wash sand an cement, these days they use bag render reason it's got additives in to help it not crack read the instructions like I was told , non shringkich cheers
Thanks so much for sharing. So if the rendered wall is 2mm trowel on, is it the same way？ Buy special render and tool for 2mm trowel on and at last repaint?

Nice job. What would you use to fill hairline cracks in render that open up with the seasons. Is there a flexible exterior caulk you'd recommend?
Hi mate, I would probably recommend Dulux acratex ACRASHIELD it's designed to fill and hairline cracks and is flexible. Hope this help 🙏
bruzzy do you have tips on paint old texture coat walls that have never been painted. We're doing the work via abseiling but on big walls we get lap lines
Yo brother it's a tricky one💯 you can do one section feather it out. Wait for it to dry then move down to the next section, but still can't guarantee it won't do it again. It's gotta be wet on wet. Maybe have another dude below keeping that wet edge. If that's possible with abseiling? Cheers
Cheers legend. Question. Can I follow your steps for the cracks then hit the whole wall with actatex paint? Changing the whole house colour and don’t want to spend the $$ of doing the whole place with a texture coat

Was the last step the final colour? My interior walls have the issue of being rendered over brick and textured finish and although I don’t like the textured I don’t want to re sand all the walls to make smooth to repaint! I’m not ready to re paint yet, just patching cracks in walls and around all the cornices! Also what is the blade you use called? That is another issue for me, cracks previously repairs and not a good job so I need to get it flush again to do it again (cracks are back and can see their patches as well as it being really uneven etc in some places)

Hi mate. Appreciate you watching on! I would recommend a 11-15 mm for a fine texture render wall keeps the pattern more even💯 🙏
How do you cut in the bottom to make it look uniform with the texture?
I tape the ground so I can roll right to the bottom to eliminate the difference between brush & roll 👍
Could you touch up a crack with the texture coat, and then final coat the entire wall. Or does the entire wall need to put texture coated?
Hi Kanye, yes most definitely just spot texture the effected areas and roll out final coat 👍🙌
Just didn't get why to apply primer prior to crack repair
Priming any bare surfaces before applying patch/gaps is a most.
What's stopping it from Cracking again?
@determouse nothing can really stop it from cracking again. I repaired this years ago now and still hasn't cracked, though.

Would have been easier to just retexture the walls in my opinion
I did retexture after it was repaired. You can't just texture over defective walls in my opinion
@@paintingbyjosh Ive been rendering and solid d plastering for 20 years. I would have applied fibreglass mesh to entire wall and then skimmed with a polymer render. Then apply a texture coat and 2 coats acrashield.
I have been painting for 26 years not rendering. So that might have been what you would of done and this is what I did. No stress still came up magic and got a youtube video out of it to help others with render repairs that ant renderers. Cheers
