Hi Jay you probably won't see this but I watch every one of your videos and I appreciate your hard work. When I was 9 years old I'm going to be 62 at the end of June my two brothers drove around in the exact same car and it was the color that one was black and white and like you said when your kid it's just a boat but now it is an absolutely beautiful car thanks for everything Jay it means a lot.
I never watched Leno when he was a late show host, but seeing him on youtube- his passion for his cars, thier engineering and history, and how he loves sharing that with people- I have massive respect for the man.
This is the car on the day I was born and after seeing the TV series Highway Patrol I became to liked it, after all I had two Buicks in my life and both were great. Thanks for restoring this car to it's full glory and beyond. I love it every minute of it.
Saw a 55 Buick Sedan parked in a hotel parking lot in Hollywood. I couldn't stop admiring it....yellow and black combination. What a looker.....i walked slooowwwwlllyyy away eyes still glued to this beauty. I think this year was "the" best Buick stylewise by far.
In our neighborhood 50's buicks were the thing to have. I am 75 years old and my dad's buicks are still fresh in my mind. Please put me in your will! Jim G. from WV
Wow, this brings back memories! My family’s first car was a ‘56 Buick Super and my dad would let me stear as we drove down the road. I still dream with that car!!!
I remember these Buicks when I was just a young punk kid. What gives this car a new look for its old style is its speed right out of the hole. I had to play that over and over again ... I loved that! Those bench seats in the cars in the 50s 60s, reminds me of my steady high school girlfriend and the fun we had going to Drive-In movies.
I owned the little sister version of this car from 1959 to 1966. Mine was a two door hardtop 'Special' with the small motor. Red and white. My most favorite car of all.
"Yeah..its fast!". Genius. Jay does what we all WISH we could do to make a car drivable, today. Sacrilege to some. Heaven to others. The money he has plowed into these cars...the taxes, the registration, the storage, the parts, the upkeep, the machining, the trash bills for the not so environmentally friendly products that are used...OMG thanks for keeping these cars nice, and in the public eye Jay. What he and his employees have done for the car collecting industry is unfathomable. Kudos.
What a beautiful car ! The chrome and paint are amazing and reflect like jewels. A pure gem ! I like how you upgraded the car with modern technology. What a great thing to do ! An impressive four hole Buick ! Thanks Jay and My Classic Car !
When I was about 12 in 1964 my stepdad bought a ' 55 Buick Roadmaster two tone red/orange and white. We lived on an old abandoned Army Base in Pittsburg, California. All of the buildings were gone but for the foundations. The roads were intact and he'd let us drive around in his Buick. It was powerful and he'd say, Punch It! I loved that car. It glided along the highway while my Mom made " Highballs on the glovebox ". That was crazy 😱! But it wasn't unusual back in those days, LOL. We survived intact. My parents are gone now...so they can't be arrested. That car was gone before '68 I guess. My stepdad bought a first year Datsun 410, which I took my first driver's license test in. It was a far cry from the Buick...
I used to have a 1954 Buick Special back in the late '80's early '90's. It had that Dynaflow trany Jay spoke of. Manual steering. Ugh! But it was a BEAUTIFUL ride! If on a green light, you started running, you'd probably beat me if I floored it the first 50 feet or so. It felt like the car sort of caught up with the fly-wheel. But when it hit maybe 35, that baby was cruising. And it really was smooth, just as he said. Egg shell white, with a red roof. I'd just sold my '69 Corvette roadster in Southern California before moving to Utah. Saw it for sale in Provo and had to have it. I had 6 big guys in it one warm Indian Summer evening and somebody said, "Hey Allan! Let's all go to Vegas!" We had tons of room in that car. I drove it all the time. Went back to California a couple of times in it. Then out to Texas, where I sold it to a guy who remembered going for rides with his dad in one. Wish I'd kept both those cars. Jay's sleeper sure put a smile on my face!! Thanks Jay!
I learned to drive on a 55 Buick. My dad was a teacher so he couldn't afford the Roadmaster but he had a Century, the next level down. I took my drivers test in that monster including parallel parking it! But dad stopped at the gas station on the way to the test and put 45lbs of air in the front tires! Made it a little easier! Great road cruiser Now I own a Buick Encore. Much easier to park, but I think even with the rear seats folded, it doesn't have as much room as the 55s trunk!
Really, really nice Jay. I remember going with my uncle and cousin to a Chicago White Sox game in 1955 when I was nine in my uncle's new 1955 Buick. It was yellow and white with a yellow interior and we went on a two lane before the toll road 80/90 was built and also I think before the Dan Ryan.
I simply loved the Belair until I saw Buick's 100 mph car. The Century or Roadmaster has to be my favorite '55 now hands down. Two thumbs up to Jay and all of his excellent improvements. I'd love to see the look on people's faces when they ask and he tells them there's a Leno under the hood.
Man, that Buick ROCKS!. When you floored it, it pinned me back in my seat- and I'm 5000 miles away in UK! Had a ride in a '55 Buick Roadmaster in Havana, Cuba in 2015. It was nicely restored with the original V-8 motor in it and it was a boulevard cruiser- yours is a true sleeper!
Jay's car and motorcycle collection has to be one of the best in the world. He's got everything from antiques, steam, muscle, modern, super cars, hyper cars, to his Jet car and tank car. Then he's got antique motorcycles to new motorcycles. I've always wondered how much he's spent on his collection to its actual worth.
Had a ride in a '55 Buick Roadmaster cabrio in Cuba, Nov '15. What a beautiful car. The Cuban one didn't have as many ponies under the hood but it was a great ride-out through Havana. Keep up the good work, JL.
Hello Jay from Pennsylvania. No you can't beat the American car of the 50''s. I love this Buick being I'm 72 years old I like these vintage cars and the trucks too. The first car I enjoyed driving to school was a 1959 Chevy Impala 4 door, or should I say my first girlfriend Loretta and I both enjoyed going out on dates ... I was 16, she was 15 ... The best memories with these big cars! In memory of these old cars, I mounted a Swan Hood Ornament from Grandpa's 1948 Packard Limo (my birth year) onto the hood of my Pickup. It scared the hell out of a cat once driving down an alley once, it yelled out Weerrellllll. HA! Life is crazy, the first time I took it out the highway, I turned on the radio, and a song came on, "I believe I can fly!" It maybe haunted! And at night the Swan's wings glow gold driving down a country road from my Truck's Amber Cab Lights ... That's Cool! The Swan has been on my truck for 19 years. This 4X4 Truck ls a lot of fun, it still looks and runs like new from the day I bought it.
My family moved from Michigan to California in a '55 Buick with a 20 foot U-Haul trailer packed full of our belongings & weighing much more than that Buick 'tank'! On the last leg of our journey while descending the notorious Altamont Pass, we discovered that the brakes on the trailer weren't working well. The trailer was pushing us downhill and wagging side-to-side while our speed crept toward 90 mph, as my dad was unwilling to apply the car's brakes for fear of having the trailer swing around in the middle of a busy freeway. He watched the trailer in his mirror and punched the brakes hard only when the trailer was centered. We did end up spinning, but at only about 40 mph, and recovered as if nothing happened. That old Buick really impressed me as much as my dad's driving skills! I was so fascinated with that Dynaflow transmission, I've designed and modified several transmissions to achieve anything similar. That magenta-colored object in my RUclips icon is a transmission that acts like a Dynaflow using gears instead of fluid. That old Buick is partially responsible for my having been an engineer!
6:22 the way Jay is sitting with ease...like he is bit tilted towards gage with relaxed feeling..that thing you won't find in today's cars! These cars were made tastefully, you can have looks, performance and lost of cozy space to cruise around in pride!!
Gorgeous car! My favorite year. Saw one in an outside parking lot on at a hotel on Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA. Yellow with white combination. It was at night and the lot lights really made it shine. Pristine condition. Lingered admiring that beauty for a long time. Wonder security didn't come out. The styling was magnificent in 1955 - more than the proceeding and successive years in my estimation.
My dream setup right there! I'd do everything the same if I had the funds. That thing is SWEET! Sure beats the crap out of today's computer-controlled rolling Tupperware ...
I have a 67 Malibu as a daily driver. I've had it for a.long.time. when I drive it people give me thumbs up. I had a 350 put in it so it looks like a sleeper.it originally had.a 283, the original engine, but it was worn out.
Jay has mega bucks- more than most of us will ever have. But he just comes across as a regular dude- a neighbor you could shoot the shit with. Nothing but love for Mr. Leno 👍👍👍
My late uncle had a white convertible Century or Roadmaster of this period with a red interior well into the late 60's. I don't remember riding in it with the top down. I do remember the beautiful curved metal lower instrument panel.
My Grandad, from Slavia, before WWI, came to America in 1898. He went to work for Buick in 1912. That was Before child employment laws. He retired from Buick. My Dad, worked for Buick after he attended GMI, after WWII. I remember growing up looking at the chrome grills. Gramps showed me a 1964 Rivieria he had in the garage. It had 2 four barrel carbs. #JayLeno, you are the bees knees my man! Dennis, thank you for this great RUclips channel. We definitely appreciate you. Keep on making this awesome content for us... please and thank you. #MyClassicCar
Not by a long shot... Jay took a 66 Olds Toronado and bumped it up to 1076hp with a GM crate motor, a twin turbo V8...and he’s done a Chrysler Turbine car, an eco jet biodiesel engine capable of over 240mph, theoretically...he blew a window out at 120mph. You can find both of these car’s stories here on RUclips!
This is a car you don't see many of....pretty rare....even caddy's are more plentiful than these....Jay puts the best of everything in his builds.....his team is awesome
Haha, Love it! My father 1st had a 53 Buick, then a 56, then a 61 (I think), Electra. Wish we still had that one! Eventually, I had a '62 ( I think) Buick Special = wish I still had that one too! Love the style, and color of this one. At some point in the video, it looked like something right out of a period movie. The motor, et al, is something else!!!
Hi Jay I watch every one of your videos you probably won't see this but I'm up here in Cincinnati that was the very first car my brother's drove around in when I was a little kid 9-year-old there's was white and black like that one was what a beautiful car like you said when you're a kid it was a boat but now that I'm going to be 62 it's a beautiful car I'd love to have one I appreciate all your videos Jay I watch everyone thank you very much for all your hard work means a lot.
I had the 55 Buick but it was the Super. I could never part with the Nailhead engine. Had a 29 buick coupe. The difference in engineering in a mere 20 years iui s remarkable.
My dad had one of these rides. I think GM was trying to transition from building tanks to cars. When they got in a wreck they would just hose the brains off the dash and resell it.
I found it to be 2004. mpeg2 digital reached a peak in 2007. that is when I started recording my tin can. It gets to be fun, not even all that old.. it is the technology changing. Jay does look much younger.
My first car was a 1947 Henry J. 2 door had it for about 6 months and never got it to run well, and my mom said if you cant driver it you can't keep it in the yard. and so it goes or went
My family had an orange Buick from the 50's, I think a 55 or 56-not sure about the model. I do remember one story when we we going somewhere with my mom at the wheel doing 90.
Hi Jay you probably won't see this but I watch every one of your videos and I appreciate your hard work. Very nice! My grandad had a 55 Buick Special - always garage kept - it was always a treat to ride in that beauty!

One of the best from Buick. They had a few great designs but this one is so well balanced.
Great job brings back memories of my childhood
this was the car i drove as a marriage car given to loan as a gift for the day. super to see this as a car Jay owned this for a very long time...
Hey Joseph I used to ride in my dad’s’56 Buick Super from Elgin to Chicago to visit friend on a regular basis! Sweet memories!!!👍
I’ll forgive you for the White Sox thing... I was a Cubs fan!!!🤣⚾️
How do you not love Dennis and his enthusiasm?
My grandparents retired and bought a new 1955 Buick to haul a travel trailer. They traveled to each of the 48 contiguous states.

Beautiful ride. My parents had this car. Yellow and green combo. With green interior.
My Uncle had a 1955 Buick four door and my father a beautiful four door pillarless 1956 Buick Special. He would have loved this video.
Hey Humayun my father had a silver’56 Buick Super and my mom had a ‘56 Buick Specia in white!!!👌
Jay, you kill me. I could write a 1,000 words, but you are the car guy.
I'm in love now.1955 Buick Roadmaster.
Love that black and silver combo. Could not easily beat a Roadmaster for a fine ride.
Had a ride in a '55 Buick Roadmaster cabrio in Cuba, Nov '15. What a beautiful car. The Cuban one didn't have as many ponies under the hood but it was a great ride-out through Havana. Keep up the good work, JL.

Thank you, you didn’t let this car get recycled, Jay!
Gorgeous car. My dad has a 55 century blue and white. I love the roomy interior. When you roll both windows down the whole area is open, no supports.
Hey Dennis you're still doing MCC I'm so glad to see this I used to watch your show all the time back in the '90's loved it!!!👍👍👍
beautiful car. it reminds me of my Dad's 55 Buick Special when I was a kid.
My first car was a 1959 Buick LeSabre. Wish I still had it. Loved that car.

What is the name of the continuously variable mechanism in your profile pic?
Heard Jay mention about his Buick Roadmaster in his early stand-up from 1982. I came to this video to see for myself.
Of all the cars Jay Leno has, this is the one that I would want to have.
6:22 the way Jay is sitting with ease...like he is bit tilted towards gage with relaxed feeling..that thing you won't find in today's cars! These cars were made tastefully, you can have looks, performance and lost of cozy space to cruise around in pride!!

Thanks for your efforts Dennis. I appreciate it.
I love almost all the Buicks add a few myself had a 56 two-door hardtop surprisingly fast !!!
It looks neat, it's really a modern car with an old body fitted on, although the original body has had extensive work done to it, resprayed etc.
Damn....that's a wicked beast!
I was kind of hoping they'd take it up into the canyon Jay drives in to see how it handles, though.
I think that's the only time I've ever seen Dennis punch any car. He's usually the King of 25 mph.
🤣🤣🤣
Simply to the MAX!
My dream setup right there! I'd do everything the same if I had the funds. That thing is SWEET!
Sure beats the crap out of today's computer-controlled rolling Tupperware ...
What a joy, Jay.
I always liked Buick's and Oldsmobile's better than Cadillac's. Such an awesome car
I have a 67 Malibu as a daily driver. I've had it for a.long.time. when I drive it people give me thumbs up. I had a 350 put in it so it looks like a sleeper.it originally had.a 283, the original engine, but it was worn out.
Buick's, Oldsmobile's and Cadillac's what?
I love any car from 1955...My birth year.
My Dad had one of these before he got married. Red and white, stock engine. I wasnt around but I have the picture of him standing next to it.
The 55-56 Roadmaster is a beautiful car
My favorite Jay Leno Restomod
Jay has mega bucks- more than most of us will ever have. But he just comes across as a regular dude- a neighbor you could shoot the shit with. Nothing but love for Mr. Leno 👍👍👍
Leno’s attitude is I don’t own these cars I’m just looking after them he is very cool guy
Call the Highway Patrol. Brodrick Crawford drove one of these cars( police version) I always wanted to see one in real life.
I have a Lucerne 3.8 series III that my Dad left me. It's got under 50K on it. It will last 500K if I maintain it. And I do.
OMG ! How am I gonna live with out that car 🚗?
#JayLeno, you are the bees knees my man! Dennis, thank you for this great RUclips channel. We definitely appreciate you. Keep on making this awesome content for us... please and thank you. #MyClassicCar
That ain't no "Schlock Rod", like the '48 Buick, in the Jan And Dean song, from 1963, but rather one "Sweet Ride" Jay!!
I’m never seen all of Jay Leno’s collection of cars of course, but I wonder if this is his greatest creation, so subtle but so much punch!
Love it, thanks for sharing.
the comment justifying a 9.3L V8 as "socially responsible" haha so cheeky
Can I punch it?
My kind of dream car!:-)
I would choose this over anything
Back in the day when there was still some color in your mustache and jays hair.
This is a car you don't see many of....pretty rare....even caddy's are more plentiful than these....Jay puts the best of everything in his builds.....his team is awesome
thats one hell of a good lookin car.
Now I want one!
COOL Jay Leno's '55 Buick Roadmaster
Haha, Love it! My father 1st had a 53 Buick, then a 56, then a 61 (I think), Electra. Wish we still had that one! Eventually, I had a '62 ( I think) Buick Special = wish I still had that one too! Love the style, and color of this one. At some point in the video, it looked like something right out of a period movie. The motor, et al, is something else!!!
Wow! My dad had a ‘56 Super and traded that in for a ‘65 Electra! Awesome car!!!👌
"I woulda had the same cat, except it died..."

Featured on 1985's 'Television Parts'
my favorite car.
.......I met my first wife in the back seat of my dad's 55 Buick at a drive-in movie. We gave our baby a cute name. We are happy all the time.

Why are all of this videos just getting published now? It's obvious they were done 10+ years ago.
We are putting together a Leno playlist and needed to break this segment out from the original episode. Stay tuned!
My 1955 Cadillac share the same windshield and that’s about it.
They Get It

I found it to be 2004. mpeg2 digital reached a peak in 2007. that is when I started recording my tin can. It gets to be fun, not even all that old.. it is the technology changing. Jay does look much younger.
My first car in the early '80s. $200. The guy asked "why do you want that thing?"
My first car was a 1947 Henry J. 2 door had it for about 6 months and never got it to run well, and my mom said if you cant driver it you can't keep it in the yard. and so it goes or went
