- I'm revisiting one of my favourite movie themes of all time composed by Harold Faltermeyer with a full length cover of The Theme from Beverly Hills Cop - "Axel F".
In the original, Harold used a Jupiter 8, JX-3P, Moog Model 15 and DX7 paired with a Linndrum.
I have stayed close to the original but have incorporated some other of my favourite synthesizers to give it my own flare.
Synths used in order of appearance:
Roland Jupiter 8
Oberheim OB8
Moog Multimoog
Roland Jupiter 4
Sequential Prophet 5
Roland Juno 6
Yamaha DX7 Mark II
Yamaha DX7 Mark I

every sound of this song is perfect: the lead, the bass, kick, percussions and so on... wonderful and wonderfully played. Thank you
I love Harold Faltermeyer. This, bad guys, tango and cash, running man, Fletch 1 and 2 , thief of hearts, loads more. He was in many ways subconsciously the sound of the 80s.
He is fantastic! He certainly crafted his own unique sound and helped make those movies iconic. And he did so much other studio work like programming synths for Giorgio Moroder 😁
@@lukemillionmusiche did. He did an interview on here a few years back, it's great if you haven't seen it. Sponsored by Red Bull or something
Top gun
@@lukemillionmusicharold f is the GOAT
Truth!
We need more full versions!
This is totally amazing! Almost no difference between this and the original!!!
Correct!
The music is iconic. The cover is brilliant. And seeing all this vintage hardware in such great condition is a joy bonus.
Luke Million has about a million dollars of vintage synths.
You might be missing a digit somewhere 🤔 I always imagine this is stored in some hidden luxury home underground bunker made from an old missile silo. And actually I know a guy that builds those so, it could be a thing
easily 10 million
Just getting started
How many vintage synths have 50 Cents?
Waiting for Duke Billion to arrive.
Why this song is timeless it’s own 80’s cheesy way but yet can’t stop listening to it we’ll never know.
40 years old and still sounds fresh! Thanks a million, Luke!
The best 3 minutes of today for me. Thank You!
One Masterpice from Harold Faltermayer. ❤
He also did the theme to Top Gun!
that bass tone is lovely
Pure 80's 🤩🤩 perfect sound, perfect re-creation. Thank you 🫡
This was the song that made me fall in love with electronic music. The first time I heard it on the radio I knew I was forever changed and keep seeking out these vibrant electronic sounds scapes.
Harold Faltermeyer is a genius and a lot of people probably don’t realise what he contributed to electronic music. His film scores were epic and then there’s the work he did with Giorgio Moroder and Pet Shop Boys for example. He’s a huge inspiration to me!
That bass line...❤🔥
this equipment is in good hands. this guy knows how to get all the sounds.
Holy hell, what an amazing reproduction. Beautiful playing and _perfect_ instrumentation.
Thank you 🙏
Harold Faltermeyer is the man of the 80´s soundtrack...unique piece of music...and you man, chapeau....great sound and great skills...and also the synth collection....jealousy x10
Thank you Christian 🙏
and again, you nailed it! BRAVO Luke!!!
Thank you so much!
Perfect recreation. Back there in time it was hard for me to play it without multitrack recording equipment. Much easier today.
Perfect right? Screw the synths. Great playing. The chord stabs especially,
Fantastic. Can't tell the difference from the original.
This is so accurate
Hats off for this master reproduction. Thanks Luke! The force is strong with you!
It's like I'm back in the 80's, which happened just 20 years ago.
Right, 20 years. Right? 😢
Unfortunately, no! 😂 well at least we have a few minutes to pretend we are back there with this cool rendition 👍🤩
In our hearts, it was yesterday.
Sounds exactly like the original! thanks
Thanks for finally doing a full length one!
If hearing this doesn't make you feel good NOTHING will. VERY well done as always!
This deeply accurate to the original. Never change Luke!
Good work! I watched the latest incarnation of BHC last night. Was happily surprised to see the original theme still being used, well loosely used. This was the first tune I learnt to play on keyboard in 1984, probably like many of us watching this who are also old!
They've remade it? 😖😠
@@TheOriginalCoda Yep, I watched it for the nostalgia but you know how it goes with these films. It’s all been done before and it still didn’t have that magic the first one did in 1984.
I loved the new movie
we're NOT old, we are VINTAGE... 😊😅😂
🎉the linndrum is on point, exact. Reverb too.
Welp it's the best thing I've seen on youtube today. Masterpiece.
Absolutely brilliant note for note
Remember that Axel F. demo came on the C64. Blew everyones mind. LOL
Fantastic cover Luke, and very like the original. Great work! 🎼🎹
Thanks Alex. I tried to make it close to the original but with a few embellishments 😊
Wow! Perfection!!!!! Thank you for doing this! 80s forever!
In this song, the Yamaha DX7 steel drums patch was heard.
and Marimbas ;)
Bravissimo!👏👏👏👏 You nailed the patches too! Sounds PHAT!!!!
Very talented. Still good in 2024.
Absolutely flawless
It's insane how old soundtracks are instantly recognizable and can take you back to a specific time and place. Movie soundtracks nowadays are largely forgettable. Once you get past a few styles for particular genres, almost nothing stands out anymore.
It's also crazy how even modern hardware can't get a pitch-perfect recreation of retro synths. There's just something about them that's hard to replicate.
amazing, just in time the new Beverly Hills Cop was released!
Nokia phones and the Crazyfrog have killed this tune for me as that's all I can hear. I used to love this lick. However, great recreation video. 🥳
Very to hear this music played on vintage synthesizers thank you Mister.
The sound on these technics is crazy🙌🙌
Often we must search among movie's soundtracks to found something of really beautiful
Sound of the 80s😎❤️
Memories... very good memories. Superb rendition! 👍🏻
That bass is spot on!
Bloody nailed it!
If I ever get bored of synths (and we all do occasionally, right?), I just listen to some of the classics by Faltermayer or maybe spin up some Vangelis or Jarre, and the world seems alright again.
They are such great composers!
You are the Synth God. Absolutely excellent 👌
Very good and so close. Pat in the back. 🇬🇧
Great as always. I have a JX-3P and it was used for the parts where you used the Jupiter 4, this was really close sounding.
Will be bumping this all weekend 🔥🔥
Spot on...!!!
Blown Away🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This video brings back great memories of the movie. Synthesizers and drum machines were definitely overused in the 80s, and put a lot of excellent musicians out of work.
This groove just feels great! Nicely done!
Thank you 🙏
That was awesome, Luke! I loved it!
This is absolutely awesome
Now i gotta watch the movies again. Nicely done.
another song suggestion Rhythm of the Night - DeBarge. I heard it earlier today and I think it is all synth.
I would pay any amount of money to hear this guy play Anywhere
Expertly recreated Harold Faltermeyer's most iconic character theme song from the 80s. 💜
Sounds fantastic - perfect recreation - nicely done!
Aaah so perfect ❤❤❤ playing myself years but never did a full 💪🏻🥳🥳
I had just about every iteration of this on 12" vinyl and tape. I was a big fan of electro and this was such a great electro pop crossover. Anyway, my point is your version is almost indistinguishable from the original, and that's a good thing. Bravo, thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Thank you. I wanted to stay close to the original because it is a masterpiece. But I did take some liberties using different synths and making the parts a little cleaner 😁
This is even better than the original! Thx!
Just perfect 👌
SPECTACULAR!!!! Seriously well done, you really nailed the sounds and performance!
Wow!
Instagram algorithm introduced to me. So glad you're on here to add to my daily playlist.
I remember hearing this song for the first time, when I was a little kid, and it sounded like the future. I never heard anything like it, before it. I wanted a synth so bad when I was a kid, but my parents were poor AF. Now I own too many synths, samplers, drum machines, plugins, etc... I guess my GAS, comes with a little childhood trauma.
Perfection, better than the original
PERFECT!!! Awesome job, man! Just became your fan
Thank you 🙏 😊
Simply perfect! 💪🏻
Great! thks you made my day!
Brilliant as always !!!
Great job , I got to learn this one on the Synth ! 😊
Fantastisch!👌👏✌️thx luke🙏🎹🎹🎵🎶🥳😍
simply great : thks Luke
*... awesome job, Axel approves!!* 👍😎 Thx for sharing Luke. Best Regards, Axel.
In this song, the Linn 9000 snare drum was heard.
Yeah. As close to the original as possible. 👍🏻 BTW nice jacket 😉 That dreamy glance while you played the DX7 is gorgeous. You must have been far away in your memory..,
Nice Job, Luke. I like it a LOT !
Spot on! But knowing the quality of your videos, I wasn't expecting else :-)
Thanks! 😃
Great stuff. The sounds are really close and using the actual 80s synths rather than plug-ins (and associated in the box EQ'ing, etc.) is a real achievement. Looking forward to more covers like this!
that's so cool that they made an instrumental version of the crazy frog song
You are amazing as always and your multimoog too!!!
Thank you so much!!
brilliant!
Ah yeah, the 80s, the beginning of the "one man band" phenomena. Sick cover
Nice! It made me want to see the movie again, good job
Bravo! And it's joyful music, soundtrack of my teen years : )
You did awesome, was waiting for the handclaps, perfect!
Thank you. It’s one of those songs that I’m sure everyone has a memory of even if they haven’t seen the films?
Great job. Greetings from Poland.
Sounds spot on! Great job Luke! 😄🎧🎶
Axel F está de volta.Axel F is back!
WELL DONE.
Yassss I'm here for it! Thanks Luke!
This is great!
I bet this gets a million hits in the next week, easily
Perfect!
Love it
Brilliant tune and fantastic recreation!
Thank you 🙏
Great sound! I really enjoyed it!
