I am not a math major, but I love to watch your videos for motivation. I hope you know that you help so many people even outside of the math community.
I never excuse myself from doing something. Whenever I say I want to do something, I just do it. There are some times when I say, "I'm not good enough, I'll never reach my goal," but then I remember why I do everything I do, and this always helps and motivates me to go further.
I definitely needed this pep talk , I'm self-studying Pre-calculus , Discrete math , and Python all at the same time and I was starting to feel burnt out. Thank you for doing what you do.
Needed this. Struggling hard through an electrical power system’s basics course now. Had to purchase a separate circuits lectures courses just to get a better baseline. I’m a civil engineer taking a Masters that combines both civil and electrical engineering, for the power utility/energy industry
my problem with electricity is that it can electrocute and kill you not that anything is hard. You made it that far and there are a ton of people who aren't that far or know that much. You can do it. Imagine if teachers didn't exist and no one told anyone anything. Things would probably be way harder.
I am into pure math since 3 days..I feel totally broken..sometime back after doing some conformal mapping I broke down😭..my sleep is cut half because I am unable to stop my mind from working...my head hurts I got a cold and lost it too..but I have totally got new insights. This beats any fulfilment I have gotten in life till now. In my PhD as an engineer I was ok with just writing codes and solving everything numerically acing those tests while scraping by analytical maths with Cs and Bs. But life happens...and I reached a stage that I just have to do analytic maths..and I find that every challenge I fled from in my.youth was an opportunity I missed...an opportunity I won't miss anymore...Yes I am gonna crash the party..hell you all can't have the fun by yourself 😊
I am having exams next week and I felt great overwhelm until watching your video. It helped me reach my tipping point and get myself to sit on my desk and work. Thank you
Do not make excuses Edit: I don't mean to judge. But, how did you fail, stats? My algebra 1 teacher was previously a stats teacher which should tell you something about that course.
@EatonArrsenik It's because my professor isn't teaching adequately. She have reincorporated to my university this semester due to this she has nothing prepared for her classes which in practice means she just copies random stuff from varios sources and make us solve them in class without any context. So yeah her class is just teach yourself what you can while she gives you exams that are far from what little you get in class
@@EatonArrsenik bro do u realize what it takes to just become a high school teacher? in most states with decent schools, they must get a math degree, which basically covers all undergraduate math courses. I don't know if you are trying to be condescending or if you just genuinely aren't able to comprehend this, but an algebra 1 teacher previously teaching stats does not tell you ANYTHING about the difficulty of stats.
@@EatonArrsenik people have different frames of understanding. Dont assume just cause youre quick at learning something, its easy for everyone. We are all different, i get if you're genuinely curious for someone as to how. But your passive comment on your experience with your teacher makes it sound condescending towards the person 😂
Thank you for this. I am getting a BS in Accounting right now, but I am self-studying math as well, because I plan to pursue a bachelor's in Applied Math to supplement my Accounting degree afterwards. You have inspired me to self study and retake up a subject I loved in high school but was too uninspired to pursue in higher education or as a career. I currently have the Intermediate Algebra book from Blitzer and Precalculus by Stewart and I am learning that on the side so I can build my way to more advanced topics and be ready to get that Applied Math degree in a few years. Thank you again for all you do with this channel!
Nice advice, I can say also if you are a MMO/Minecraft player stop grind in virtual worlds and grind also in science, you will discover that old methods to mantain your brain fit and get dopamine from sucess in science is a crucial way to be happy not depending from grades or titles. At the end, a nice job is a nice reward but going beyond of casual knowledge in science is a goal that have a lot of benefits.
Many times I feel stuck at many problems, I feel like giving up but push through it and try it the second day and I came to realize you need time and hard work to get through the problems.
That’s the key right there, to spend time on a problem, work through it, rest, sleep, repeat until you get it. Not 10 hour grind but consistent effort over time leads to amazing results.
I remember watching your videos for the first time back in 2020 during lockdown since then your channel has come a long way with lots of helpful math content and many inspirational, advice videos with a very helpful comment section where many people around the world share their experience now I have finished my high school and want to study in mathematics at university and hopefully I will be able to fulfill my dream to be a mathematician Congratulations for 1 million subscribers Thank you❤
I think it is fine to "make excuses" in the sense that our brain is going to automatically find them, and present them, and it will do its damndest to justify them, but even after that the descision to enable them is ours. And that really comes down to understanding that we are not our brains. We are not our thoughts. To understand and experience this, will really give any person a solid leg up in control over themselves. I really like this channel because it doesn't isolate everything, but knows that everything is really interconnected.
50 years old and wish I had kept the math I had from college. Now starting over and self teaching. But I love it and want to keep pushing. Thanks for always keeping me motivated! You make me feel like I can actually do it.
Yeah,i'm 23 years old and i don't a good experience with functional analysis but i'm still intersted with it, now i'm working in rebuild all what i've Seen at university
This video is awesome! I have been watching you for a while and I am now starting my self study journey with math. Thank you so much mr. Math sorcerer!
mr sorcerer, you have no idea how much I have needed this. I have been extremely depressed and haven't been able to concentrate or focus and my grades are slipping. I think I have about 13 missing assignments right now. I have taken the initiative to suck it up and bought your lessons on differential equations. I hope to turn my life around
I have no idea how we’re ‘connected’, but it seems that whenever I struggle with a certain thing you upload a video right at that tome or give or take an hour. About 6 hours ago I was struggling with this, and now I see this was video was posted 5 hours ago. This has happened more than once. Thank you very much for this, it soothes a lot of wounds
i feel that but in programming. it feels good when you find the solution to a hard problem or a feature you have no idea how to implement. sometimes it involves math and programming, what make it even harder.
I've finished my Master's 3 months ago. My biggest issue, even so that I do want to work hard, I crave a chalenging, inteteresting job is that really noone is giving me a chance. I've been stuck in a application hell loop for quant roles, for analyst roles, for mathematician roles, for actuary, for research scientist (i'm a physics major) and it's just this rejection cycle that really crushes my spirit. I's not even the failure to not suceed at sth, it's the inability to even properly begin. To not be given a chance.
Good day the Maths Sorcera. It is Festus writing from Abuja, Nigeria. A graduate of Electrical and Electronic Engineering teaching Mathematics in one of the city's secondary school is falling in love for Mathematics the more as a result of your efforts in explaining, teaching and advertising Mathematics in your podcast. You motivate me each time I listen and watch your podcast. I stumbled on one of your podcast few months ago. It caught my attention. Since then, I have been listening and watching these your inspiring works often. I am now picking great interest in studying Mathematics as a second course. How do I start? How can I get some of these beautiful books your analyse and advertise here in Nigeria? I just watched your podcast on Algebra for Beginners few minutes ago. It is interesting. Please, help me achieve my dream of learning and knowing Mathematics like you do so that I can also contribute my quota in teaching Mathematics and making our society a better place like you. Thanks for your favorable cooperation. Festus Ekwem.
When i see i have to take a risky decision or do something that is really hard, i always say to myself "well, it either kills me or make me better, let's go" Better than nothing 😅
Who are you directing these comments too? I had purchased many of your mathematics courses on Udemy. I had put them aside because I was enrolled in an electrical engineering program. However the tuition is too high plus all the hurricanes have been blowing up my door to get any of it done. So I just withdrew and shifting back to your mathematics and trying to get on campus instead of trying to do the major online.
You keep mentioning in your videos how that there were certain things that you didn't get along the way. Would it be too personal to make a video about what you currently struggle with rather than things that you only once struggled with but eventually overcame? It would be interesting to hear.
Please dont response I reinvented education, made 100tr. My fields medal wife is not my wife anymore. My 3 eternal wifes want to learn ai. Learning ai takes 10-20h a week for 3-12 month.
You can't read a million books and watch a million videos on everything. You don't have enough time and all of these "teachers" need to realize that. I have a bunch of free time and I've watched like 14,000+ AI videos. You can't know everything. You can't go through every person's iterations of this information. Everyone is saying something different. Everyone is trying to beat everyone else. It's like a big competition. But you either have modeled a brain or you haven't and then you have to wonder if that's what you actually want to model in the first place.
You may have not wanted to do that in the first place and next thing you know people are talking about consciousness and now you have to make the thing conscious and everyone has different ideas on what that even is. But what do you want to do?
Life is really unfair to some people and even if they have done nothing wrong they may or may not be physically or mentally capable of becoming successful. You don't need to lie to yourself. Be happy you're not in that position and if you WANT to learn math and your physically and mentally capable then that is what you should probably do. But you're not a failure if you don't. Because these people are dying in the same universe and this might be the only life we get and others too because you know you're in a society. but you don't even get that yet you think you are or need to be einstein.
The math grind. Sounds pretty cool. 😎. You need to want to learn. It's too bad that all of these people(not talking about this guy) who think they are teachers don't want to work with the other teachers and all agree on information. Jeffrey Hinton goes and gets a nobel prize for neural networks and they are like it's just like the brain. Yet every other day people are coming up with other ways to do things. This world is ridiculous. I'm not even sure anyone can provide any evidence of anything except that things happen to work for whatever they want them to work for.
It's not that everything is hard. Some things are dangerous. Oh yeah I forgot this a math channel. Stop being afraid of numbers. You're not afraid of letters are you?
The problem is other people. They care how good you are at math. They want you to launch satellites into space and build cars and all this other stuff. They don't care. They think you're a robot.
Hey this math is awesome. Let's see if I can build a single bomb that is capable of blowing up the whole planet. Then all this math knowledge you learned starts converging with all of these other fields and then you no longer want to build a bomb because you know how to do so much stuff that you want to stick around to do it. Next thing you know you're like Neil Degrass Tyson chillin on youtube making that cash and talking about stupid base numbers that you can learn about in a computer science class. Theorizing why humans are conscious in the first place and trying to use numbers to describe it.

Read your Bible and you would know this
There actually are shortcuts to success. Especially when success is defined by money or skills. Life is just not fair. Though I still agree.
You really need to define success here. We're all going to the same place. We could all just be youtubers and see who is the most popular.
You might need math for that.
Use your math skills to turn earth into a better place because Earth isn't going to apparently do it itself.
