Which games best shiny targets should I outline next?
You should do gen 4 because there are great targets in there! Like Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum

whats with the all the blue/purple shinies tho?
I would want to see some Gen 3 Fire red/LeafGreen targets since those were the games I played the most when I was 10 years old

Don't forget the 1/64 shiny chance when breeding with a shiny Pokemon . The easy one to use is a male red gyrados. He covers dragon and water 2 egg group. Opens a wide option of shiny targets

The actual shiny chance for a shiny Pokemon depends on its gender. Ditto is 1/64th, but the Red Gyarados breeding with an Ekans is closer to 1/128.

Just a little note about the electrode, koffing voltorb and geodude in mahogany town. they all have self destruct and its not 100% preventable with abilities not being a thing yet. the best thing you can do is put it to sleep as far as I'm aware. Same thing also applies to pineco

Mateesery 44 wish the Masterball was given to use in the mid-game and after defeating all 8 gyms. Cuz the masterball would be handy for cloning one of each for those you listed with self-destruct. Just through the MasterBall the second the shiny shows up. No self-destruct, then making your feel terrible the shiny KO’d itself

A shiny Koffing is still to this day the only shiny I've ever encountered in a pokemon game, it was in mahogany town's Team Rocket base and it used self destruct.

How to hunt for shiny unown:
There are 4 puzzles in Ruins of alph and each ones releases a set of certain letters. If you want the best chance go for V which is done by aerodactyl puzzle. Do not go to ruins before you can use surf. Once you do, go there, surf on the water in the south, go inside the cave and solve the aerodactyl puzzle. This will release exacty 5 letters inside ruins including V, so all others DV combinations that would result into different letter will not exist at this point. Not all V unowns will be shiny but there is much higher chance to find one, like 100 times more likely.
If you want letter I to be shiny, you need to solve kabuto puzzle which is in top right cave. This will however release 11 additional unown letters which lowers the chance for shiny.

Tony tbh I RNG manipulate for shinies in gen 4. I think it's worth it because you can get guaranteed shinies with good ivs and nature, but it's all personal preference.
If you have Fire Red or Leaf Green, you should do Game Corner Abra resets, it's pretty quick and fun

I'm a huge fan of Johto and have been doing a lot on my Silver game, and this was the video that actually encouraged me to start hunting in Silver. Haven't gotten anything yet, but I'm currently 425 SRs into getting my Union Cave shiny Lapras. Thanks for the hunting inspo!!
One of my favorite hunt challenges for soulsilver is shiny unknown, when it finally shines, then hunt a target starting with the letter of your shiny unknown:

I've hatched a shiny Ekans via the Red Gryrados. I was able to get shiny Tyrogue, and now I'm 2275 sr into Ho-oh. I'm still feeling fairly confident about getting it soon c:

I feel like going back to these games will be hard for newer hunters, due to how the odds were changed in X/Y. I've been hunting since about the end of gen 4, so I'm used to the normal odds. I see people complaining about not getting an SOS shiny in four days or less, and meanwhile I've been SRing Cyndaquil in gen 2 since it released on the Virtual Console about couple of weeks ago, and I'm still going strong (at least 28 hours total play time, according to my Activity Log lol). Is it bad if I prefer hunting with the lower odds? It feels more rewarding that way.
Gen 1 and 2 is pokemon. The others is garbage. Keep playing the old games bri

I got a shiny Hypno yesterday (evolved from Drowzee), i was actually hunting Ditto, but i cant complain.
LP Albert funny, I found a shiny drowzee trying to get entei and failed it by killing it with a crit leech life

LP Albert if you send Shiny Gyarados to 1st gen and teach it Mimic, then encounter a ditto and make it transform twice using mimic, that Ditto is now shiny. Catch it, and transfer it back to 2nd gen.

Gen 2 (crystal specifically) was the first game I hunted in! Sudowoodo after almost 7000 resets. Was gonna hunt lugia also but decided to do it in SS (I'm 9500 resets in)

I mean, sudowoodo looks nice the same with cynthaquil(wich I will hunt on gold) and lugia looks good inn gen 2 as well 👍
I started a hunt for Shuckie because this was the first I heard it could be hunted. Started it around May of last year and finished just a bit ago after 11,624 encounters and is the only hunt I've done both full odds and the full 8192. I've never screamed this loud, thanks for the suggestion Dallas!

I'm currently at 110 encounters for my Shiny Natu hunt but after that I think I'll probably go for bug catching contest hunts. It sounds like such a thrill, like safari zone but less chance of disappointment.
TnamiChan I'm at 420 SR for totodile and planned to do the bug catching contest for a shiny as well.
Breed False Swipe onto a Parasect and get Spore on it + make leftovers the held item, it really helps since your balls are limited, and you'll want the best odds possible. Also Pinsir and Scyther's catch rates are annoying at times

Awesome video! I'm totally going to shiny hunt a bunch of these. A while ago I found out that the Eevee you get from Bill can be shiny. Since Eevee is one of my favorite pokemon, I'll totally get my hands on it.

I was training my Pokemon at Mt. Silver when I encounter shiny ursaring and I check my pokeballs and then I realized I forgot to buy some lol fml

MT. Silver is the best place to get shinies! I catched an onix and a donphan while trained my team :)
Once I was playing Pokémon Crystal in an emulator (without speeding up), trying to get a Heracross from the Headbutt trees to use in my team. It took so long to find it that I actually found a shiny Ekans before the Heracross. It was crazy.

Just a small story for the comment section today. When I discovered this channel, it got me into shiny hunting, I had tried it before and had always given up not having the patience to see it to completion. When I discovered your channel I hunted for a shiny Litten, and failed. I took a break for months afterwards. Then my sister ( who was way farther in the game since I had wasted three months hunting on and off for that Litten) started wonder trading stuff and getting foreign Pokemon. One day, she gave me a Japanese crabrawler and a regular crabrawler, saying that I could get a shiny since breeding the two would give me increased odds. I got the shiny in under 100 eggs, and have been hooked ever since. I never have done a soft resent hunt after the Litten, so when I get these on the virtual console, I will be sure to hunt for some of these targets. Good luck to those who are also hunting!!! May your eggs be lucky and your SOS hunts short!
This video is what inspired me to try my first ever full odds and second gen hunt! I SR for the sudowoodo for about a week and at 4126 I got it! I didn't actually really believe it could happen, it was surreal to see it work in an older game and at full odds! I'm using VC Crystal and also doing a lot of extra odd egg hunts on my side game to help pass the time on the SRing. I want to do more SR with side hunts in the future, the lapras, the eevee, the dratini and the legends :D and at the end, double hunt the celebi haha and also do the ditto trick on my side to hatch shinies as well.

Just wanted to mention that using the shiny Gyrados (resetting so it's male) and getting to the point where you pick a Kanto starter, if you pick Charmander (reset until it's female) you can get 1/64 SHINY CHARMANDER EGGS. Masuda Method who?!

I caught a shiny Ponyta in front of Mt. Silver and a couple of hours later I caught a shiny Onix halfway through Mt. Silver. Great memories there and I highly recommend spending some time there with the variety of pokemon.

Gonna be honest, when I start my Silver playthrough, I'm gonna shiny hunt my favorite starter pokemon, Cyndaquil. If breeding has a higher chance of getting shinies when breeding a shiny pokemon, it'll be my way of helping the collection of more people in the community when I get multiple... or at least help by having something to offer in exchange for shiny gen 2 starters, lol.
Outside of the original cartridge Silver LoR Gyarados... my first ever Shiny was a Starly on Platinum. He was part of my champion team as well, I was so proud.
I got my shiny Ho-oh today! Too bad I had to use my masterball on it (would have struggled it's self to death) it looks soooo cool, so worth it.
I shiny hunted Totodile on the virtual console (Crystal), took a few months for me to get around to it, but today, after about 100 SR's in total spanning over a couple of months, I finally got myself a sweet lil Totodile that I have affectionately named Chompy. I'm now hunting for a shiny Zubat, preferrably female, though male is fine too, but I find the pink of Crobat to look better on a female. The first two shinies I caught myself were not actively hunted. The first one, I was 8 years old (am now 19 about to be 20), I found a tentacool in Emerald which I named Shini because he sparkled. Yeah, I was not the best at names back then. The second was a Togepi a couple months ago in Pokemon White, whom I named Beebo, after Brendan Urie for some reason. But I set down my game to tell my mom and I guess the cartridge jostled, and it disrupted the game (froze it) and I had made the mistake of not saving.
I have still not recovered.
I had no idea you could run from Electrode and he'd still be there!!

How long is a encounter hunt normally?
I am shiny hunting a Cyndaquil for weeks now and still haven’t gotten it. (It is my first hunt, so I have no idea how much patience is expected)
So for the headbutt method, you still do soft resets? Or you keep headbutting the same tree over and over?

I need that shiny shuckle. Way back when I was a kid and g/s first came out, Shuckie was the first shiny I got. It was on my first playthrough of silver, and I hadn't even seen the red gyarados yet. I didn't even know what shinies were at the time. It's still chillin on that silver cart to this day.
I know that this is for G/S, but I have a question about Crystal
When hunting Raikou/Entei do you save before or after you encounter them in the wild for the first time (is the shinyness set when firat encountering it, if so, is it still shiny if it runs away)
Save before. You only save after if you meet them as a shiny. Raikou and Entei are by far the most time consuming shinys on Gen 2 games

I accidentally bumped into a shiny Golbat. It's a fitting landmark for my shiny hunting, considering how I found my first shiny, a Zubat, on LeafGreen about ten years ago.

I actually got a Shiny Ho-Oh in my Gold file a few days ago.... Another reason Shiny Ho-Oh is amazing to hunt in the VC version, is because of the Poke Transfer. Having it have the nature you want with some EXP manipulation. And it having it's HA, Regenerator makes it VERY much worth it.
I've been hunting Ho-oh in Silver for a few months now. I've put that hunt on hiatus though so that I can focus on Celebi in Crystal.
