Bill gives you his number to remind you (he can call you everywhere, even in caves) It's the only phone number you should keep all the times (plus the ones for Swarms for specific Pokémons.
So for my team in Gold I decided to have a Heracross. And as you know Heracross flees quite easily, and has a low catch rate. Guess what happened when I was head butting a tree to find a Heracross. Sparkle sparkle. There it was, that beautiful purple Heracross. Guess what it decided to do on the first turn. Fled.
My first ever shiny was a shiny golbat in Victory Road. I was 9 years old and i did not know why the Golbat suddenly started to sparkle so I just killed it.. Later on I found out that I actually killed a shiny on purpose because I thought it was some sort of mistake in the game..
I also found a shiny Rattata when i was 8 on my way to get the egg! I didn't know it was very rare at the time as i kinda wasnt looking at the screen but i do remember hearing the sparkly noise and the color seemed off. Still kinda salty i didn't have pokeballs after all these years
Found a shiny graveler in platinum and caught it with a quick ball. I didn't know self destruct or explosion. It knew rock throw, bulldoze, roll out, and earthquake
You forgot to add the part that your PC box could be full. In gens 1 and 2 you had to change boxes before you could catch more Pokemon. So if you were trying to catch something and you have a full box an error message will say "not enough pc space, please switch boxes" or something like that. I would find that to be the most annoying, even more annoying than the Pokemon who have a chance to flee from battle.
I remember seeing a shiny tauros in my pokemon crystal and had to kill it because my pc box was full and back then the pokemon didnt got to the next box.
Anybody who has watched Chuggaaconroy's Pokemon Crystal LP knows ALL about the possibility of Pokemon running away. "IT'S A PHANPY!" ;) Really cool to see you make this video! It's great for the people who didn't know, it might save someone!
Hey guys! With shiny hunting suddenly becoming one of the most popular aspects of Pokemon and with the recent release of Pokemon Gold/Silver in the Eshop, I decided it was better to be safe than sorry and made this video! The fact of the matter is a lot of the features or components to these older games aren't exactly as we've come to know them (games like Sun & Moon), so I realized its going to be extremely easy for people to fail shinies without knowing they were even at risk for it -- and though a few things I talk about may seem obvious, you'd be suprised how many people didn't realize them Now I normally upload only once or twice a week, but being this is my first week back in America, consider this a bonus video to get the word out and help prevent anyone else from failing shinies in these games. Hope you all enjoy watching and good luck on all your 2nd gen hunts!
TheSupremeRk9s I failed a Shiny in HeartGold because I encountered a Shiny Pidgey (one of my favorite shinies) literally a minute before I got Pokeballs
you should have included the crappy PC-box system aka "You cant catch a Pokemon because your box is full". Easiest way to protect you from that: get Bills Phone Number by talking to his sister in Goldenrod. He will call you right after you catch the 20th Pokemon of the box
It's kind of bad and depends on your moral compass in Pokémon games but the duplication glitch is INCREDIBLY easy in Gold/Silver so you can get as many Master Balls as you like to help you out!! Really enjoyed this good job bro
And I'm a person who lacks morals in that regard. I'll hunt the Shinies legit. But, if an easy to do glitch for cloning Master Balls is a thing.... Then yeah, I'm SO doing it. Currently, I'm trying to get a Shiny Ho-Oh, been at this for 2 days now with no luck. But, when I DO find it.... I'm more than ready for it. Hopefully, I won't lose patience for this hunt.... That 1 in over 8000 chance is pretty brutal. I could be doing this for MANY days straight.... Or, who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky.
I am all against hacking and using Game Shark or what ever it is called, to create fake mons and items. But I do use glitches, because it's a part of the game mechanics. :-)
+Lee Richardson Because you know how disappointed you're going to feel if you do happen to find one before you have any Pokeballs, so you really don't want it to happen.
Funny story about that second point you made about wild Pokemon being able to run away: Years and years ago during Crystal's heyday, I found a shiny Cubone in Rock Tunnel and, like you pointed out, it ran away from me before I could catch it. I was pissed. Eventually a year or so later, I was doing another playthrough of my Crystal game and through some AMAZING coincidence, I found ANOTHER shiny Cubone in Rock Tunnel again! And this time I managed to catch the bastard!
If I may provide a bigger warning about the legendary dogs. Even after mean look they have ANOTHER problem, they can force you to flee via ROAR. So you most likely will need to masterball them because taunt didn't exist until gen 3.
Shiny Samurott Suicune learns Roar at level 21 and sadly doesn't learn enough moves to get rid of it by level 40 (when you encounter it obviously). It may not know it in crystal due to it being a forced encounter and not roaming, but in the case of gold and silver it sadly does know it.
What's more sad for me... going to get those three shiny dogs... have to save first and then the legendary dog event! If shiny, save, if not close the game and repeat lol! Before I do that... going for shiny ditto and shiny lugia
I love how much he's freaking out even though the chances of finding a random shiny is 1/8192. I completed the Gen 2 Pokedex in 2001 just by grinding and never once ran into a shiny other than Gyarados.
It's because the 1/8192 random shiny always comes when you're not prepared. Like a fucking shiny Pidgey on route 1, when you didn't get Pokéballs yet :'(
Have spent almost or already 1000h with pokémon and never found a random shiny (if i exclude shiny hunting, so basically the time where i could get a random shiny), but i‘ll get pearl soon, maybe there i‘ll be able to encounter my first random shiny, but before that i‘ll probably shiny hunt piplup haha.
Have had an egg hunt for Caterpie going on for weeks. Finally got one after at least 8000 eggs. The day after I tried for Alolan Pichu, got it within 100. Then went for Onyx, got it in the 3rd(!) egg! Shiny hunting is crazy!
Player 2 that’s awesome dude congrats My first random full odds shiny was a Zubat in sun and moon I was stoked! Played Pokémon for years and never encountered a shiny until now
Mine was a loudred in xy and i wondered if that was an acual shiny The 2nd one was a dwebble in xy Third was a linnoone in oras 4th was a sneasl that oddly startled me All were full ods by the way
I accidently crit shot it and was able to continue on with the story? I remember being annoyed and a bit upset all my effort in trying to catch the gyrados was wasted and it had disappeared.
Rng is funny like that. Your starter could be shiny on first encounter - no reset, a brand new game/save file - or you can go well beyond odds and not see anything over multiple new save files. It is 1/8,192 odds after all...unless you breed the shiny gyrados, where while slow, enables the odds to turn into 1/64 because of how shinyness was based on stats in gen 1 and 2. Therefore a shiny ditto is the best shiny you could ever get in g/s/c. Gyrados only opens up any pokemon that fall under dragon and water2 egg groups to those lower odds.
I had one in my old hard copy of Gold. Thankfully, the only Shiny I randomly came across was a post-game Ditto. I caught that thing and swapped it with the original Ditto in the daycare. Don't care, Blue Ditto > Pink Ditto.
Nova1080 You should add that it only works for Gen 2 (due to the way DVs work in this generation), people might believe it works for each generation. Or simply not believe it's true at all when it actually does.
I got Spinarak near Mr. Pokemon's house. That grass patch that's really wavy. It took a while and I encountered one, so I guess it's rare there. I'm not an expert on gen 2.
3:21 This legitimately happened to me on my first random encounter shiny. I was 8 years old, just beat Clair, and was working my way down to New Bark Town. It was a Teddiursa. My jaw hit the floor and I was ready to catch this thing. It ran away on the first turn. I was mortified, and I would be lying if I said that I've made my peace with it.
Fantastic video Dallas. Hopefully this helps prevent as many shiny fails as possible. It was even a good refresher course for experienced hunters too! One thing I do want to add though, always make sure you have enough room in your party or box!!! If you have no room left in your PC the game will not let you catch anymore Pokémon (even if they are shiny! :O)
Man, I wasn't even shiny hunting when I was rudely reminded that certain Pokemon flee in these games (was looking for a Heracross at the time). Thankfully I decided to have a Haunter on my team, strictly for Mean Look to make the Beasts easier to catch...but oh boy. Seeing my first Heracross flee, I was just like...damn, glad that happened before I encountered any shinies/decided to hunt for them, because I totally forgot that was a thing in this generation.
I remember on the way to summer camp one day, I saw a shiny bellsprout in the last patch of grass before violet city... no pokeballs... and no one believed me. Hard to imagine it was over a decade ago, but I never will forget that. That was the only one I ever saw with the higher encounter rate of the old games. Great vid, thanks for preparing people against that mistake!
I was lucky enough to encounter my one and only shiny right after that whole dilemma, I found my Shiny Mareep outside of Violet City! And I've had her with me all the way up to Pokémon White! Thanks for this video RK9, I've been a fan for a while but I've never really commented, hope you're doing well!
Couple of tips for everybody (who does not mind using glitches to get shiny pokemon): 1. You can duplicate master balls by using the duplicate pokemon glitch by attaching a master ball to the pokemon you duplicate. Do it as many times as you like for those random shiny encounters. 2. There is a glitch in the game that can turn any pokemon shiny known as the coin case glitch.
I'm not sure if you mentioned it, but they also need to check their boxes if it's full because it won't let you catch a Pokemon if it's full, you have to manually change it.
Also, remember to always have spare space on your selected Box. These older games will prevent you from capturing any pokemon if the box and party are both full. I lost a shiny rattata in a random encounter to this, more than 10 years ago.
Hey Rk9, I've actually got a question for you that I'm not sure about... Shinies are determined by IVs in Gen I (technically) and Gen II; is there a chance that if you manage to find shinies there and transfer them, that they'll lose their shininess?
Nope. The most recent update for the Transporter fixed the old IV Swap issue with shininess in Gen I. All Pokemon now correctly transfer as Shiny/Non-Shiny.
To clarify conflicting responses: They stay shiny. Pokebank reads the DVs before replacing them with IVs, so shininess is kept. There was previously a Pokebank bug which affected Gen 1 "shininess" (visible once transferred)---different DVs were required for shininess. However, the bug was fixed upon the release of G/S, reverting the requirements to the originally intended DVs, so that visibly shiny 2nd Gen shinies wouldn't lose their shininess.
I'm so excited to shiny hunt in gold because I want to recapture my first ever shiny which was a shiny Natu in pokemon gold. It was such an important shiny to me that when I found out I could recapture my gen 2 shiny Natu, I knew for sure I was going to hunt for it. Thank you for this video, I know for sure it will help a lot of shiny hunters.
Thanks for the video! :) It will help people who aren't aware. I have failed a shiny before due to "no chance to get Poke Balls," so I know how devastating it is.
I unfortunately don't understand all because I'm French but I'm so happy to finally shiny hunt on pokemon gold and silver 😀😀 Thank you for these informations because I forgot someone 😅
If you can use Google Translate he says: 1. It takes a long time before you get pokeballs so theres a chance to find a shiny before you get pokeballs 2. Some pokemon can randomly run away from you in gen 2
someone please explain why shinies are important? are they only for collective value/rarity or are they more powerful ? im really sorry if its a stupid question but i only started playing the games recently (my mom would never buy me the games when i was a kid because we were poor af so i had to suffer without it lol) and idk a lot of stuff :( trying to catch up 20 yrs later lol
chikkin nuggit They're just very rare and hard to come across (1/8192 chance of appearing in gens 2-5, 1/4096 in gens 6 and 7). Some people also prefer their alternative colors.
Even if you think shiny Pokémon are useless... not really... for an example? A level 100 shiny charizard with good ivs and moveset! You can get legenderies or other pokemons.
They are 100% purely cosmetic. They are rare, and have a different colored sprite. Of course natures/IVS are different for every Pokemon, so a shiny could have better stats because of that but not always. My shiny abra is terrible because he has lowered special attack for higher special defence. But he looks cool.
I had a Heracross flee after using Mean Look with my Gengar. Would that be because I swapped it out? Does the Mean Looker have to stay out the whole time?
i feel like you dropping off very simple pokemon information. stuff for either newer players or people just starting into looking into pokemon information.
+TheSupremeRK9s I still have my Shiny Raticate (and the rest of my team) from Crystal! Thank you computer programs!!!! Also I got a Shiny Cresselia in OR after 13 SRs! My first Shiny Legendary!!
A note on shiny hunting the legendary beasts (Raikou, Entei and Suicine). All three of them can learn roar, so even if you use mean look there is a chance they will use roar and cause the battle to end. It's a good idea to have some option to disable them like hypnosis, sleep powder or lovely kiss as well.
Thank you so much for this! Even though it was in Soul Silver, I still took your advice and stocked up on more Poke balls. I then no joke found a shiny Gastly in the belssprout tower, i wouldn't have been able to caught it had i not watched this video as i used up most of my pokeballs
Also, always have at least 2 Master Balls with you just in case. Cloning is really simple and safe so you'll be fine and won't risk missing a sweet shiny. Another good news is that you CAN'T run away from a shiny Pokémon in Generation II. So if you find one and don't notice it at first (hoping you don't kill it of course), the game will make you understand it's a shiny by preventing you from running away, and it won't end your turn.
Are you sure? I tried this many times with a shiny cheat on emulator (so every wild Pokémon encountered is shiny), and I could never run away. You may be right about the Speed that though, I'll check about it.
Okay, I've just tried that again and I can confirm that no, you CAN'T escape any shiny Pokémon, even a shiny lvl 2 Rattata. They've done this to prevent the players from missing them accidentally, especially when playing on Game Boy/Game Boy Pocket without colors. I can't tell about Crystal but it should be the same as in Gold & Silver. That's why you can't run from the Red Gyarados but this applies to any shiny (and the GS Ball Celebi in Crystal but that's a special case). I wish they'd had done the same thing in later generations but sadly, that only concerns Gen II.
Well actually, none of us were right. The unability to escape only concerns shiny Pokémon with the same DVs as the Red Gyarados (0 PV, 14 Attack, 10 Defense, 10 Special & 10 Speed). In that case, you can indeed run away from most shiny Pokémon as long as they don't have an Attack DV of 14. My tests were done with the well known gameshark code, but this code makes all wild Pokémon have those exact DVs so the game considers every encounter to be like the Red Gyarados encounter, always preventing me from running away. I'm glad I know how that works but I'm a bit sad this isn't an actual mechanic for all shiny Pokémon, though it makes more sense as to why it was never done in later generations.
*Wants to make a video warning shiny hunters* *Makes it 4 days after Gold And Silver come out for the VC* Logic oh great know im going to sound like a jerk dammit..
You sound like a Pokémon noob when you compared the hunts to sun and moon...this is probably how a lot of the younger audience thinks...gold and silver are the standard of how the games are supposed to be, it's funny how shocked you sound talking about the difficulty lol
"gold and sliver are the standard of how the games are supposed to be" makes sense with all the program errors and mistakes. i grew up playing mostly silver but youre being an idiot. original gen 2 might be the worst pokemon games of all time. get your head out of your nostalgia filled ass
You took what I said out of context lol the easy games now compared to how difficult it was is what I meant by the standards of how the games were supposed to be
Keep up the great work man 😂😂 Been watching you for a while I want to see you try and get the 2nd gen shinies though! I've been hunting for Totodile, and my girlfriend has been for Chikorita it's been 3 days and nothing 😭💔 But I did get the shiny Cyndaquil!
This happened to me when I was like 9 years old playing Silver (14 years ago). My first ever shiny encounter (aside from the red gyarados) was a shiny Tangela. My Pokemon were too strong to battle with it w/o killing it, so I just threw a ball hoping I'd catch it--it failed and then ran away. I was so sad and confused. x.x
I started Gold version the other night and was so terrified that I might encounter a random shiny before I got pokeballs.. But honestly forgot about the Pokemon that could flee. Thanks for the heads up!
I actually found and caught 2 shiny Pokémon back-to-back a few years back when playing Crystal, first was Delibird and the other was Seadra while surfing.
caught a shiny rattata while looking for phanpy. was bummed about since i already had a normal type on my team (teddiursa). Also, is victreebel good in pokemon crystal?
Hey I hatched a nidoran male that has 10 across all. it's stats . Why is it not shiny???? Also I've hatched 100 eggs already am I doing something wrong?? They're both diff OT and it's a shiny ditto and nidoking breeding 😭😭 helpppp
MandJTV from Wish
You forgot the fact that when your box becomes full you need to switch boxes!
Oh god what have I done
you should really pin this
i knew about the things listed in this video, and i knew about this too, but of the 3 this is probably the one that would cause me to fail a shiny
This was literally what I was going to say after the video was over. Awesome of you to mention that!
Bill gives you his number to remind you (he can call you everywhere, even in caves)
It's the only phone number you should keep all the times (plus the ones for Swarms for specific Pokémons.
Fled.
Toko Loco Oh no! That sucks so much! I'm so sorry man..
Toko Loco uh infinite master balls easily exploitable glitches
Toko Loco hahahahahahahahaha
:0 ;-;
Toko Loco that sucks
Lost a Tangela to this when I was a young lad. Should have looked meaner
Or tagged more shadowy... wait... abilities weren't introduced unti- JUST TAG MORE SHADOWY
Oof
i came to this video because i jus caught my first shiny - a tangela
Also guys, MAKE SURE YOUR BOX IS NOT FULL. It's much easier to have this happen pre Gen 3 as Pokemon WILL NOT be sent to the next free box.
My first ever shiny was my first encounter in Pokemon Gold; it was a Rattata on the first route, and before you get pokeballs. I was eight. I cried.
Jamie Christian My first shiny was a Krabby in crystal version, I used to think it was some sort of error in the game and I ran away from it.
I lost my shiny Mudbray forgot to save and I wasn't bothered because I was going for Lillipup and Eevee
My 1st shiny aside from the scripted Gyrados was an Odd Egg Magby.
My first ever shiny was a shiny golbat in Victory Road. I was 9 years old and i did not know why the Golbat suddenly started to sparkle so I just killed it.. Later on I found out that I actually killed a shiny on purpose because I thought it was some sort of mistake in the game..

3:39 wait did u just say pokemon aren't real...
TWD98 yeah. It's obvious that they're fakes of digimon
troy what are you doing here I love your videos but I mean I have seen supremerk9s on ur channel but just wow
THE SUPREMERK9S IS LYING TO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg, ToryDW89's here!
DELICIOUSLY MOIST your a jerk,I grew up loving both pokemon and digimon
I once randomly found a shiny geodude that knew self destruct. Surprisingly I was able to catch it.
My shiny geodude exploded...and my shiny wobuffete fled that's all my wild shinies
feebasmcsagg11 aka the feebas whisperer That is terrible luck.
Found a shiny graveler in platinum and caught it with a quick ball. I didn't know self destruct or explosion. It knew rock throw, bulldoze, roll out, and earthquake
That must’ve been stressful, awesome job on catching it!
A while back, my brother found a shiny Geodude on SoulSilver, and after he caught it, he realized it knew Self-Destruct.
Oh and btw Dallas suicune is a roamer in GS like Raikou and Entei, but its SR able on Crystal.
Dang I didn’t realize, I never actually played crystal before! Thanks Percy!
You forgot to add the part that your PC box could be full. In gens 1 and 2 you had to change boxes before you could catch more Pokemon. So if you were trying to catch something and you have a full box an error message will say "not enough pc space, please switch boxes" or something like that. I remember seeing a shiny tauros in my pokemon crystal and had to kill it because my pc box was full and back then the pokemon didnt got to the next box.
I remember how Bill always called: Yeah Silver, your box is full XD
i just found it annoying how the box limit was lowered from 30 to 20 per box
This happened to me a few wks ago... T.T
Anybody who has watched Chuggaaconroy's Pokemon Crystal LP knows ALL about the possibility of Pokemon running away. "IT'S A PHANPY!" ;)
Really cool to see you make this video! It's great for the people who didn't know, it might save someone!
Also he found a random shiny koffing on his first try when he was looking for one...
And the shiny Koffing "Yes this is it and. OMG!!!! AHHAAHHAHHHAHHA!!!!!! This is something very rare, this is a shiny Pokemon."
Hey guys! With shiny hunting suddenly becoming one of the most popular aspects of Pokemon and with the recent release of Pokemon Gold/Silver in the Eshop, I decided it was better to be safe than sorry and made this video!

6:34 Spider Web is also a trapping move that only Ariados could learn, until Joltik gained access to it (Gold exclusive boo hoo).
I found a shiny drowzee in gold I caught it in a great ball
Omg you saved my life, literally just after I watched this I got a shiny cubone and I used the mean look on my Gengar. THANK YOU RK9
It's kind of bad and depends on your moral compass in Pokémon games but the duplication glitch is INCREDIBLY easy in Gold/Silver so you can get as many Master Balls as you like to help you out!! Really enjoyed this good job bro

IF U USE MEAN LOOK WITH GENGAR THEN SWAP GENGAR OUT THE MEAN LOOK TRAP IS BROKEN, NEVER SWAP OUT
I'd say use Umbreon later in the game but Eevee can only learn Baton Pass in Crystal, which is pointless until it's released.
I was on the edge of my seat on the way to Mr Pokémon’s house
+Lee Richardson Because you know how disappointed you're going to feel if you do happen to find one before you have any Pokeballs, so you really don't want it to happen.

I remember the Shiny Pidgey I failed on my Heartgold in route 29..... literally my first encounter.... -sniffle
TheSupremeRk9s can't you also fail if your box is full? Or is that only gen 1?
I got a random shiny linoone in alpha sapphire today! Sooo freaking excited it is gorgeous
Full odds btw at kinda the beginning of the game

I've played Pokemon most of my life (I'm 17) and I've still never found a random shiny.... I've only gotten 2 that I hunted for in Moon
I failed the red gyarados in the storyline out of ignorance. I didn't know you could catch it. D:
Imthedash04 I dont think that matters that much, its not really rare and you can just reset the game if you want to play it so badly
I accidently crit shot it and was able to continue on with the story? I remember being annoyed and a bit upset all my effort in trying to catch the gyrados was wasted and it had disappeared.
Doesn’t it respawn when you beat the pokemon league?
“If you happen to not encounter any shinies...”
You make it sound easier than it really is.
I think it's really cool that despite being more than 15 years old I'm still learning new things about these games. Great vid Dallas!
Where is the super cool SPIDER WEB Ariados ? :D (making it available at lvl 37 for Spinarak & lvl 43 for Ariados is way too cruel GF)
Maître Armand en live ! Yo,you watch the Supreme Arcanine??? Ton anglais est excellent
I had one in my old hard copy of Gold. Thankfully, the only Shiny I randomly came across was a post-game Ditto. I caught that thing and swapped it with the original Ditto in the daycare. Don't care, Blue Ditto > Pink Ditto.
Shiny Ditto also increases the odds of hatching a shiny egg to 1/64
Nova1080
You should add that it only works for Gen 2 (due to the way DVs work in this generation), people might believe it works for each generation.
Or simply not believe it's true at all when it actually does.
I got Spinarak near Mr. Pokemon's house. That grass patch that's really wavy. It took a while and I encountered one, so I guess it's rare there. I'm not an expert on gen 2.
im loving your channel so much you giving great tips thx Surpreme👍
Good idea for a video Dallas. With the reach you have Im sure you will save a lot of people from making the flee mistake. Thank you.
Where did you get that shirt? its awesome
"You're not gonna catch legendaries with one ball!"
*Caught a roaming Raikou with one great ball, no damage. My Pokemon were lvl 20 something.*
EmiBeanie you have the luck of a god then. Cause the catch rate is crazy
It's all probability. You're far more likely to fail than to succeed. You got lucky, but not everyone will be so lucky.
That is incredibly lucky. You had a 0.781% chance of catching it.
I call hax
Good hax, not the terrible kind that breaks a 50 win streak.
Seeing kids these days talking about Gold and Silver and how shinies work differently lol. I feel old, ahahaa.
I did 40 soft resets for a totodile witouth getting it before seeing this video
Thanks for making this video, I was planning on hunting heracross and had no idea it was one that could flee!
Okay this was actually helpful
Noob
Couple of tips for everybody (who does not mind using glitches to get shiny pokemon):
1. You can duplicate master balls by using the duplicate pokemon glitch by attaching a master ball to the pokemon you duplicate. Do it as many times as you like for those random shiny encounters.
2. There is a glitch in the game that can turn any pokemon shiny known as the coin case glitch.
Verlisify's Mom you should have swallowed
Extraordinary Eevees Goddamit i was too late!
When the shiny chancy runs away
Hey Rk9, I've actually got a question for you that I'm not sure about...
Shinies are determined by IVs in Gen I (technically) and Gen II; is there a chance that if you manage to find shinies there and transfer them, that they'll lose their shininess?
PizzaWithAnchovies I'd assume not, as shininess is a different thing to DVs, despite being determined by them.
No, they stay shiny. The Pokémon that would be "shiny" in gen 1 become shiny on transfer to Bank. I'm sure it would be the same for G/S
Nope. The most recent update for the Transporter fixed the old IV Swap issue with shininess in Gen I. All Pokemon now correctly transfer as Shiny/Non-Shiny.
Thank you all so much for the answers!
Just clone the master ball when u get it
I unfortunately don't understand all because I'm French but I'm so happy to finally shiny hunt on pokemon gold and silver 😀😀
Thank you for these informations because I forgot someone 😅
If you can use Google Translate he says:
1. It takes a long time before you get pokeballs so theres a chance to find a shiny before you get pokeballs
2. Some pokemon can randomly run away from you in gen 2
Latios / Spearmint that's what I understood but I wasn't certain 😅
But how to use Google translate with voice?
I meant to translate my reply, wasnt sure if you typed english. He also says that the move Mean Look prevents the runners from running
Latios / Spearmint yes of course with golbat and gengar...
And in the start of the game try to don't meet lots of pokemon
This reminds me of when I first played Heart Gold. My very first wild encounter was a shiny pidgey long before I could get any pokeballs.
Had this same problem in Crystal VC with Hoothoot sorry to hear about pidgey
Love your videos. Never thought about shinies till I started watching your videos. 😄
someone please explain why shinies are important? are they only for collective value/rarity or are they more powerful ? im really sorry if its a stupid question but i only started playing the games recently (my mom would never buy me the games when i was a kid because we were poor af so i had to suffer without it lol) and idk a lot of stuff :( trying to catch up 20 yrs later lol
chikkin nuggit They're just very rare and hard to come across (1/8192 chance of appearing in gens 2-5, 1/4096 in gens 6 and 7). Some people also prefer their alternative colors.
Even if you think shiny Pokémon are useless... not really... for an example? A level 100 shiny charizard with good ivs and moveset! You can get legenderies or other pokemons.
Lady Caeda Please direct me to the part in my comment where I mentioned anything about them being useless.
They are 100% purely cosmetic. They are rare, and have a different colored sprite. Of course natures/IVS are different for every Pokemon, so a shiny could have better stats because of that but not always. My shiny abra is terrible because he has lowered special attack for higher special defence. But he looks cool.
In gen 2 shiny pokemon were a bit stronger than normal because of thier dvs
Nice video
I had a Heracross flee after using Mean Look with my Gengar. Would that be because I swapped it out? Does the Mean Looker have to stay out the whole time?
2:19 Great video as always! That first run in the beginning of the game is soooo 😆😆😆
4:47 omg! Get Master Balls from Pokémon Red and Blue! If you even can trade items?
6:35 Omg! This is the coolest video!
i feel like you dropping off very simple pokemon information. stuff for either newer players or people just starting into looking into pokemon information.
"Everyone is playing them"
But... I'm not. That means...
LIES!
what shiny luck do you think we have to run into a random shiny before getting pokeballs
I remember getting a shiny unown when i was a kid in crystal
But i couldn't transfer it to future games unfortunately
2:17 "New Fart Town" 👀
SketchFreak Is that why there's windmills?
This...is just too perfect
SketchFreak HHAHAHAHAH
what are you talking about it literally sounds nothing like new fart town your comment makes literally no sense
+TheSupremeRK9s I still have my Shiny Raticate (and the rest of my team) from Crystal! Thank you computer programs!!!! Also I got a Shiny Cresselia in OR after 13 SRs! My first Shiny Legendary!!
After Professor Elm’s assistant gives you the 5 Pokéballs, the Pokémart in Cherrygrove City will sell Pokéballs.
Qui est Français est ne comprend rien de se qu'il dit
Je suis bilingue :^)
Qu'es tu fais ici alors si tu comprend rien?
Is it true that in gen 2 you have a higher chance of getting a shiny with mesuda method if a parent is shiny
Linkenfant Only the Gyarados encounter works like that. All other encounters you can escape assuming your Speed stat is higher
Very good video, happy to see people wanting to get out proper information and sourcing their research in Pokemon
Verlisify I hate you :)
Verlisify the irony.
Verlisify I love your vids man!!! 😂😭
Keep up the great work dude!!!
And haters gonna hate just gotta ignore em -_-
N stfu dude whats wrong with you man its a shame tjat people like you exist
Verlisify agreed this vid was extremely helpful
In addition, it is nice to play the games again while everybody is talking about.^^
For Raikou/Entei/Suicune, wouldn't you need your Mean Look pokemon to be faster so that you can get Mean Look in before they flee?
*Wants to make a video warning shiny hunters*
*Makes it 4 days after Gold And Silver come out for the VC*
Logic
oh great know im going to sound like a jerk dammit..
4 days is literally not a long time at all, and honestly I was expecting someone else to make it before me
most people wouldn't even drop anything in 4 days, so that's completely fine, Videos take some time to make and edit to :D
4 days in is better than never
+Ori But could't he start making it BEFORE they came out because it is not like this are new games. He knew they were coming out.
Leave him alone. He doesn't owe anyone anything. Too many people act so entitled toward RUclips creators. 4 days isn't long anyway.
You sound like a Pokémon noob when you compared the hunts to sun and moon...this is probably how a lot of the younger audience thinks...gold and silver are the standard of how the games are supposed to be, it's funny how shocked you sound talking about the difficulty lol
Travis Douglas ikr, sounds annoying.
Thank you, thought I was the only one.
"gold and sliver are the standard of how the games are supposed to be" makes sense with all the program errors and mistakes. i grew up playing mostly silver but youre being an idiot. original gen 2 might be the worst pokemon games of all time. get your head out of your nostalgia filled ass
You took what I said out of context lol the easy games now compared to how difficult it was is what I meant by the standards of how the games were supposed to be
Travis Douglas its not taking it out of context if i read everything you said, thats all the context you gave.
I encountered a shiny Sentret when I first started the HeartGold remake. It still haunts me to this day. );
Keep up the great work man 😂😂
Been watching you for a while I want to see you try and get the 2nd gen shinies though!
I've been hunting for Totodile, and my girlfriend has been for Chikorita it's been 3 days and nothing 😭💔
But I did get the shiny Cyndaquil!
Thanks so much for this video, your a life saver! I just found a shiny Tangela, and made sure to use my Master Ball! ❤️
Mean looker? Did the ultra beast get him a bit to angry?
I just found out my older brother had a nintendo 64 console and the pokemon gold game .How do you reset on nintendo 64
I hope this hasn't been asked before but is shiny sudowoodo available on Pokemon gold on the game boy color?
wait really quick. do pokemon like legendarys respawn? like if you k.o them and beat the e4 will they respawn?
Isn't there a flee rate for eevee, porygon, umbreon and togetic because they were supposed to be in kanto's safari zone?
This happened to me when I was like 9 years old playing Silver (14 years ago). My first ever shiny encounter (aside from the red gyarados) was a shiny Tangela. My Pokemon were too strong to battle with it w/o killing it, so I just threw a ball hoping I'd catch it--it failed and then ran away. I was so sad and confused. x.x
Question someone please see this but can you get a shiny Pokemon from the casino in Golden rod?
I was trying to catch a regular Phanpy and Mean Looked it, but it still ran..?
Can you Transfer Pokémon from these games if they’re Digital?
I started Gold version the other night and was so terrified that I might encounter a random shiny before I got pokeballs.. But honestly forgot about the Pokemon that could flee. Thanks for the heads up!
I actually found and caught 2 shiny Pokémon back-to-back a few years back when playing Crystal, first was Delibird and the other was Seadra while surfing.
Is it better to run or battle each Pokemon if we are hunting
And I am trying to do my first shiny hunt in this game. But you cant reset really fast in the vc games, like you could in the original.
Did anyone else see that in his thumbnail the ds didn’t have a game in and wasn’t even on!😂🤣 it’s so funny but great video dude
caught a shiny rattata while looking for phanpy. was bummed about since i already had a normal type on my team (teddiursa). Also, is victreebel good in pokemon crystal?
thank you dude i just got both games just now
I had a scary thought just now. Has anyone ever attempted or succeeded to catch a shiny Unown of each letter (and symbol in the later games)?
Hey I hatched a nidoran male that has 10 across all. it's stats . Why is it not shiny???? Also I've hatched 100 eggs already am I doing something wrong?? They're both diff OT and it's a shiny ditto and nidoking breeding 😭😭 helpppp
Where did you get the shirt?
Almost a year ago i failed a shiny Tangela on my cartridge on my way to school because when i switched out it fled
is it possible to get a non shiny gyarados at lake of rage
I remember years ago I tried the mean look strategy on one of the legendary dogs. It used roar the next turn.
I missed a shiny Meowth years ago. It's weird since you didn't mention it on your list, but I'm pretty sure it fled.
