Hi Becky. One tip I have- my husband and I don’t drink coffee like the person you mentioned in your video. I used to also keep a coffee maker for when we have get togethers. One day it dawned on me to declutter it and just buy some instant coffee for guests instead. It’s been working perfectly😊 Another tip for those who love throw pillows- buy zippered covers instead. Craft stores and Amazon sell them in all different sizes so you can buy some that fit your particular pillows. They’re so easy to store and switch out when you’d like. Also, instead of a picture wall, I’ve bought one collage picture frame that fits multiple pictures. I’ve put our favorites from over the years in it and I can easily change them if I want to update it. I’ve decluttered everything you’ve mentioned in this video except for books. I just can’t part with them. They bring me so much joy and make our home feel so cozy😊 Thanks for the motivation❤❤❤
I’m with you. I can’t part with my books. I pass on my fiction books because I know I won’t read a second time. I keep all my nonfiction books . I need to get rid of my rubber stamp collection but it’s so hard
@@g.970 I occasionally get rid of some books if I didn’t enjoy them the first time around, but if it’s something I loved reading I’ll typically hang on to it whether it’s fiction or non fiction. As for your rubber stamp collection, if it’s something that’s bringing you joy and it’s truly hard to part with, maybe it’s a sign to keep it for now. You can always declutter it later in the future when you get to a point where it’s easier to let it go.
Great tips! I’m 100% on board with everything with the exceptions of #1 & #2, but for very good reason! I have a treadmill and lots of indoor plants because I live in a place that has very inclement winters. Sometimes I can’t go for walks longer than 10 mins (that’s if I’m bundled up!) due to extreme cold and short days. Same reason I prioritize indoor plants - the long, cold winters make it so we don’t see any greenery outside for many months at a time. Both are important for my mental/emotional/physical health. Another tip re: furniture - we don’t have furniture that our robot vacuum can’t get underneath. No need to move anything!
Very, very minimalistic orientation. I'm with you on de-cluttering extra water bottles; holiday items; large furniture and extra tables (extra furniture in general). My challenge is letting go of books (working on it). But really, for wall art/photos keep a feather duster on hand. Wall art keeps a home from looking sterile and too empty. Once in a while cleaning the glass fronts doesn't require massive bandwidth. Extra blankets are very useful for company, power outages, & kids like to make forts out of them. Keep a min. of one extra per family member (put them in a bin with your emergency supplies (e-radio, lantern, etc. - hope you do have e-supplies).
We each have a level of decor we find comfortable ❤️ I can’t tell anyone else how much they should or shouldn’t have because we are all just so different. It is a lot of bandwidth for me and I’d rather spend my time watering my plants or playing with my daughter then dusting pictures I don’t really need to be happy
Becky another great video. Over the past 7 years I have decluttered many items from our home. Every day or week I manage to find something that no longer works for us or is excess
I started my decluttering journey earlier this year and found my houseplants the hardest to part with. I’ve gone from having just over 50 to 18 easy care plants. I know that still sounds a lot but I’ve found myself appreciating the ones I have more and it’s saved me so much time looking after and watering them each week!
That's what its all about! Sounds like you are finding your balance with things you love and what you have time and bandwidth to care for! Thanks so much for sharing 😍
Switching to Blueland has been very helpful for me in reducing cleaning supply clutter because they have tab refills instead of bottles - and it's better for the environment!
Great video!! We recently had our kitchen/dining/living room repainted! After watching your video, I only re-hung about half of the wall decor!! I actually have several walls that have nothing on them now and I LOVE IT!!! Before I always felt that every wall needed something (and usually several things). I feel like I can breathe better in my own home, by having less wall decor now. Thanks for your great tips! You are so good at what you do!
Love this video. I cleaned out the linen closet the other day and we only have 2 sets of sheets for our bed, 3 beach towels (I use them for giving the dog a bath) and we have 2 towels each and more hand towels and wash cloths. But I love my Minky Couture throw blankets and we have a lot of those but we love them. But we've gotten rid of a lot of things and its been amazing. Our new motto is if we love it, use it, need it or wear it then it stays otherwise it's out. I'm working on the attic and the holiday decor and next year will be the basement cause it's gonna take more time. We have 4 christmas trees and I'm only keeping 1 of them and going through all that stuff soon. But it feels like our home can breath now which is amazing. I also have some furniture we are getting rid of next year also when the community has there garage sale. I love following you cause I feel you are relatable.
Enjoyed this video, Becky! We do still have and end table on both sides of our sofa, but they get a lot of use so they're staying. Sometimes we eat at our coffee table but usually it has nothing on top of it, unless it's one of our 2 cats. Same with the dining table. I've decluttered our linens down to 2 sets for each bed. So happy with that! I love the look of plants but have zero luck keeping them alive. Yours look so healthy and happy! Did I miss the link to your cleaning product, Evergreen?
❤ Hello Becky. I agree with you on hanging minimal wall decor. I have very little hanging on my walls and I absolutely love it. And I think it’s time for me to declutter towels. We are using the same one over and over so no need to have all the excess. These past two days I have cleaned out and then organized my nightstand three drawers and two Entertainment Center drawers. Much better. Thank you for this video.
Well done Becky, I agree with a lot of these and got rid of most of that “stuff”. We do have a LOT of plants but they’re my husband’s hobby so I can just enjoy looking at them 😊
Thanks so much! My husband has a ton of tools and everything else that goes with them haha so I get that! But like you said its his hobby so I get to just enjoy the furniture he builds 😍
I feel oppositely about end tables and coffee table. I find end tables very useful and convenient. Coffee tables on the other hand are just in the way, taking up space right in the middle of the room, getting in the way, and making the room feel smaller.
Great video! I've been trying to go through my home and declutter, but since it is already quite minimal, I haven't found much. I knew there were things we didn't need, but I couldn't discern them until watching this video. Now I've got four items on my mind that I want to declutter and I couldn't have decided that until watching this video, so thank you!
Here's a tip. Places like Hobby Lobby are now selling seasonal pillow covers. Just zip over your regular throw pillow, then pack away after the holiday.
Yes!!! Just got some fall ones and thought about all the space I’ll finally save and get use out of pillows i no longer want and have now found a new purpose for them since I would use them with the covers on them 😊
I agree with the big pieces but sometimes it's better to have one bigger piece instead of multiple different smaller ones. Smartly placed larger pieces can even make a room feel bigger if it creates long vertical or horizontal lines
💯 I’m sure it depends on your style and room ❤️❤️ for me as long as I can move it and clean it hahah it works but I’m all about simplicity right now in my life
great video. very focused on making sure the items we have are functional and make our lives easier. I have never been a throw pillow person but someone mentioned zippers for those who are. We have a specific shelf for particular books and books do not go beyond that… ooo 100% no area rug- they are a pain to clean and constantly having to move them…
That's so funny when you make realizations like having more bottles of window cleaner than actual windows. While decluttering, I realized I have a lifetime supply of gift bags, maybe even a generational supply! I also recently filled the trunk of my car with bed linens and donated them to a local animal rescue to use or sell in one of their yard sale fundraisers. I gave them our Christmas tree and all the decorations/ornaments too and that sold very quickly for them. The only few years we were able to put it up was when we didn't have a pet, so it had some sadness associated with it. Now, we have a bunny that would 100% chew through the cords and ruin the lights so it felt like the right time to let it go to a home that could actually use it. We've always been happy with our cute little tabletop tree anyway!
Another great video! Are you doing any including back-to-school, seasonal decor content? I’d love to walk through the September-January madness with my favourite RUclipsr and stay inspired with simplifying 🥰
so,i was overwhelmed and had so much christmas stuff and i was so tired of dragging it all out- to where (to the excitement of my spouse) decided to rid myself of them- It was freeing- i didn’t even know I was involved in a declutter movement at the time…now I’m onto moving on to other parts of my life…. I am tired of being bogged down with a bunch of stuff.
I often would have workers come by to help me with odd jobs around my place, the number one thing they always say is that my place is so peaceful and clean. One man even told me that he hates to go home because it‘s so cluttered and his wife just cannot let go of anything. another friend of mine‘s husband asked me if I could help his wife and I did, we spent three days declutterring. Two years later, the place was all filled up again. Owning less, is definitely beautiful, calming, and definitely conducive to attract love.
Love this! And I get it! My husband, though he is not a minimalist, has told me so many times how much happier he is with our house now 😍 having a calm and peaceful place to live and let your head is incredibly important for your mental health ❤️ thanks so much for sharing!! Love it!
I downsized with the huge furniture. In my bedroom now, I have a bed, small side table curtains and a small table that serves as a desk. I have one pot, one pan. My weakness is towels though, I do not use the same towel because I‘m drying in the intimates parts and between my toes - how am I going to use that towel again? So, I have 7 towels one for each day. The same with underwear 14 panties 2 x 7 days (for the evening after a shower). Bed linen one bedspread, one duvet and two pillow cases and two sheets. I change my bedding once a week and while the one is drying, the other is being used. I can go on and on but honestly, it‘s been absolutely amazing to let go. AMAZING.
Great video and motivation! I do minimalism for the minimalism room look, it just feels so refreshing and can breathe! I can’t stand when clutter is everywhere

I'll definitely reduce my indoor plants to the minimum - only the most favourite ones
The thing I struggle the most with is people who buy things for my house. Or want to buy me presents and I don’t know what to tell them. Example: I bought a 4 cup coffee pot for my house for thanksgiving because I host and I know people like coffee. It gets packed away in the thanksgiving bin every year. My mother in law recently purchased a kerig for my house so it’s there for when she comes over. Which isn’t super often and again I would put it away when she leaves. But I think my biggest thing is idk what to tell people I want for presents because telling them nothing isn’t good enough for them and I’ll still get something like a candle I don’t use if I don’t tell them something.
I agree with you. I don't like clutter i have what i need in my kitchen. I am not into silverware sets, pot sets or sets of any kind. I have 2 each of what I need. Bathroom 1 mat, 2 towel sets for me and my son. I never like big furniture or furniture sets. To others my space may look empty but I like it. I don't have a dresser or chest in my bedroom because I don't need one. I make my own all purpose cleansers to avoid toxins and chemicals. I do not like alot of throw pillows I have one long one on my couch. I have no side table in my living room just a coffee table. I have no extra blankets 2 heavy ones between us for cold winters. The books I have I get on pdf and i have few books that I go back to because they are reference books. My hobby is crochet and sewing I only purchase yarn and fabric when I am specifically going to make something which is not often. I don't have area rugs, but would like to get one for my living room that is washable. Picture walls I realize look cluttered to me. I do have two in my bedroom that are neutral. Enjoyed your video.
Maybe ask your friends from other countries before buying something. It gives a fresh perspective as they usually don't watch the exact same advertisement
@@minimalease right, however isn't trying to figure out what we like many times inspired by what we see other people enjoying or when advertising? If I see the same stuff suddenly in every other video, especially minimalist themed, I ask myself why and if I would benefit from having this product in my home. I drink a lot of water, but really don't understand the benefit of such a klunkie plastic product, that's really ugly in my eyes. So of course I'm confused, I like to understand other people's motivations and why they like what they like. It's one of the main reasons for me to watch all kinds of different channels from all over the world. I wasn't trying to offend you, I'm sorry about that.
This is not "How to make your home look minimalist" this is "Here's a list of things to get rid of in your home." I was really looking for the HOW. The list of stuff to get rid of, I've seen a million times. disappointed.
Getting rid of stuff IS how you make your home look minimalist. She is tell you HOW. The less stuff you have the harder it is make things look cluttered.

Hahah I would never ask anyone give away their babies if they can manage them all 😍💕💕
Maybe ask your friends from other countries before buying something. It gives a fresh perspective as they usually don't watch the exact same advertisement
Thanks for sharing your perspective ❤️
❤❤❤
Thanks for always sharing the love ❤️❤️
was that a snowboard on a running treadmill.......???????
hahaha yess it's hilarious!
I buy holiday paper napkins from the Dollar Store and seasonal pillow covers from Amazon.
I didn't understand these huge cups and bottle just get one high quality stainless thermos bottle for each person and one stainless bottle maybe
To each their own. For me Minimalism isn’t about trying to understand why others need things but finding out what is just right for you
@@minimalease right, however isn't trying to figure out what we like many times inspired by what we see other people enjoying or when advertising? If I see the same stuff suddenly in every other video, especially minimalist themed, I ask myself why and if I would benefit from having this product in my home. I drink a lot of water, but really don't understand the benefit of such a klunkie plastic product, that's really ugly in my eyes. So of course I'm confused, I like to understand other people's motivations and why they like what they like. It's one of the main reasons for me to watch all kinds of different channels from all over the world. I wasn't trying to offend you, I'm sorry about that.

😂… wait till your daughter is 12😅 her room is a constant war zone and EVERYTHING is “special” drives me crazy lol
Haha my daughter is the same 💕 that’s why we have to have boxes and containers so she has a finite space for her treasures to stay
4:40 You share a towel with your husband. Gross
Haha I share a lot more with him too 😉
@@minimaleaseI also share a towel with my husband lol
Just fyi all novels are fiction 😊
This is not "How to make your home look minimalist" this is "Here's a list of things to get rid of in your home." I was really looking for the HOW. The list of stuff to get rid of, I've seen a million times. disappointed.
So rude of you @yesiownfrodo if you don`t have anything nice to say, go another place and be grumpy
Getting rid of stuff IS how you make your home look minimalist. She is tell you HOW. The less stuff you have the harder it is make things look cluttered.
