Sometimes when I don’t feel like doing a chore like laundry, I pretend I’m in an aesthetic RUclips video doing the task😂shorts can glamorize simple tasks and it helps
Opening the curtains and making the bed went from a chore to a lovely part of my morning routine over the course of a few weeks. Such an easy but defined way to start the day. That's the power of habit: once I got used to it, it's almost not something I even think about when I do it.
I put my house to bed every night… I straighten and put everything in its place. I get the coffee pot ready too. It’s nice to get up in the morning to a neat home and smell the coffee brewing ❤️ I just started to do a whole house declutter too. It’s going slow but ok. I retired 2 years ago and now hubby and I realize we need to down size so the decluttering is key. Thank you for all your great tips, I’ll tune in for more 🌺
I love the way you phrased “putting your house to bed”! I agree, it is so lovely waking up to a prepared space. Slow decluttering is often better/more intentional I find. Thanks for your encouragement and good luck with your decluttering 🥰
With the bed thing, I think its good practice to allow the space to breathe (its also Italian culture). When I wake up I open the bed up completely and open a window. Usually I let it air for 30mins then I make the bed. Even, if you have a balcony or juliet in the bedroom, its good to put the duvet there to air out. The basket for random items is a great idea that I'll be taking too.
Yes absolutely! I’ve actually been doing this for a few years, not exactly 30 minutes but I wait until after freshening up to make it 🙌🏽 thanks for sharing this for everybody!
My daughter came over one morning to find us gone and knew we had had an emergency because my bed was not made. My mom had to go to the emergency room.
Don't know if this will help but for anyone who gets grossed out by tasks - I have clean kitchen gloves and dirty so for like washing up I use clean but taking the bins out, sorting the strainer in the sink I use the dirty and I can disinfect them both but I feel less procrastination towards these tasks
When I was younger, I hated chores. One was dishes of course. My Dad explained to me that when you’re done using the sink it’s good to rinse out the food (and trap if you have one) then run the disposal with a little cleaner. He said, “it’s kinda like a toilet, you gotta flush when you’re done”. Once I got older I was like, oh my gosh that’s the best way to put it 😂 As far as the video, this is the best cleaning video out there! Mondays are my deep clean days, then the rest of the week I do these little ‘maintenance’ cleaning tips and it honestly makes housework a piece of cake because it’s never really messy. It’s just touch up cleaning and so nice!
my fave tip for keeping things tidy (i’m the least tidy person my age i know of lol but it works when i do it) is if it takes less than 5 minutes to do - just do it. like if you have dishes in your room, just go put them in the sink. it takes 30s. I just have been so lazy lately and mentally drained that i haven’t been doing it lately but definitely helps me when i’m not feeling like this
great tips!! thank you. My problem is I get sidetracked so easily. I'll try to clean the kitchen and then all the sudden I see something in the living room, and then I see something in bathroom, and so on and so forth. So what works for me is I set a time, whether that's a podcast episode or a Spotify playlist or however long my dinner is in the oven, and I just clean for that amount of time with no focus. Whatever comes into my mind or sight within that time is what I clean. I found I was stressing myself out by only focusing on one room, so with this method I find myself so much more productive.
Same, I have ADHD so it's really difficult to just mundanely clean everything in some order. I usually do so during a big cleaning day once a week, but on a day to day basis I just let myself relax and clean whatever my eyes drop onto. It's still much better to do something than nothing at all!
For cleaning countertops, I used to think if I cleaned, it had to be the WHOLE room. I learned along the way that I can wipe the bathroom sink one day, clean the toilet another day. It helps keep it constantly clean and less daunting
I do several of these habits. My problem is too much stuff. Collecting too many things. I’ve been trying to downsize & have been donating things. I sold on eBay for a few years. Getting rid of things is hard. More clutter seamed to happen over the past 3 years trying to recover from 5 surgeries. 3 back surgeries, hip replacement, & a bleeding problem. Lots of fugitive & little energy. Still I could use help. I liked all your little tips. I’m going to look at your other videos. Thank you!
Thank you for being open about your experience. Lots of stuff can be difficult to deal with and it sounds like you've had a rough go with all those medical circumstances. One step at a time, sending you love! ❤️🩹
My apt. used to be so easy to clean until I developed a progressive medical condition. All the clutter overwelms me so I finally do a little at a time to conserve energy. Love these ideas 💗🦋
I am doing everything apart from the first tip which is so so smart actually! Also, in regards to the "chair" situation, what do you do with the clothes that are not clean enough to put them back in the dresser but not dirty enough to put them in the laundry basket? Any tips?
Oh my God, I do the hanger thing on the bed too! And now I’ve always felt a little bit self-conscious and OCD-ish about it 😅 but now that I know it’s a hack… 😎😎😎😎😎😎
As I get older, I feel the need more and more to keep things clean. Part of that is finding ways to make cleaning tolerable for me, cause if something is gross to clean, like the sink strainer, I don't want to do it. So I got some disposable sink drain nets so that I don't have to touch anything gross or scrub the strainer (cause stuff would get stuck in the holes all the time). Instead, I can just grab the edge of the net and pull it out and throw it straight into the trash, no real cleanup required. Super big life saver lol
I have no idea how it is with kids, but both me and my partner always put things in their place after use and pick up stuff from any room as we leave the room. We don't need the one swipe in the evening (aprt from fluffing the pillows), because our house is already tidy by then.
These are amazing tips 💕 the thumbnail drew me in and your character and the value in these tips made me a subscriber!! Thriving in simplicity! You rock girl
🤔 when I heard you say this one word…I had to go back to your channel page and see if you live in Canada - which you do 😁 As a fellow Canadian living in the USA, when I have called the garbage disposal a “Garburator” (sp) people would look at me quizzically wondering what in the world was I talking about! My husband admits that for a couple years when we were first married, he had no idea what my sweet Mum (who was down visiting) was talking about when she talked about the “chesterfield” - hilarious! There are certain words used in Canada that aren’t used in the USA. 😆😆😆
I think the best tip is to make cleaning as enjoyable as it possible. I also have a yt video or a podcast running and try to see cleaning as a part of my relaxing routine :)
I love these tips. I like the idea of keeping a cloth on a hook under the sink to wipe down, but I’m concerned it may make items ( toiletries) in that cupboard damp?
Thnk you for simplifying this list Haley, seems easier and more achievable👏🙏 Btw, I also dont like to do the “touching of kitchen sink strainer”😂 so I figured out how to do it with ease, I use tissue to hold the tip of it and there you go, I can do it everytime!😆 Have a try too, maybe it can help☺️
FYI- hand washing dishes wastes MUCH MORE WATER than running the dishwasher partially full. A dishwasher cycle uses less than 4 gallons water and handwashing typically uses 4 gallons every minute. Regardless of how many or how few dishes I have- after dinner I run the dishwasher EVERY NIGHT!!
I felt attacked but in a good way. I guess. I have piles of clean clothes (to many). I have 15 to 20 plates, so I don't have to wash dishes all week if I don't want to. That's also why I have some many pieces of clothes because I hate constantly doing laundry and dishes. Ma'am you were all up in my apartment 😂😂😂
You’re blessed! It’s definitely much easier to be tidy when we’ve grown up with good examples. Gotta keep this in mind for messy people too though, not everybody is taught how to do chores or keep a space clean from the get go ☺️
The process of selling, donating, organizing, and repairing items, along with maintaining the yard, can be time-consuming and overwhelming when clean habits haven’t been ingrained. This is even more challenging for people dealing with health or mental issues, or those who struggle to survive financially and spend most of their time working. It’s a lot easier to maintain an already clean home. Growing up in a hoarder-like environment, I sought inspiration from numerous videos and audiobooks to deal with the situation and moved to a new smaller house that was more manageable. While there has been a drastic improvement, I am now decluttering for a second time to refine the organization. I’m consistently learning how to improve my habits. It's important to be patient and understanding as this struggle is not a choice but a genuine struggle for many.
Great point! We only really do this if our items have a strong smell from cooking/restaurants - but our wardrobes are also fairly spacious and allow for a bit of air flow 🙌🏽

I love the couch. Can you say the brand or style?
All😂

I do the same!
I do the same but am happy to leave it airing for up to 2 hours. I am in Canada, so summer time needs more air time!
Yes thank you. My husband doesn't understand.
Yes, the sheets need to be aired before one makes the bed again.
Second basket for items without a home *chefs kiss* BEST IDEA I HAVE HEARD IN A VERY LONG TIME!!
I’m so happy you found this one useful!! 🤭
@@HaleyVillena where are these baskets from, please?
but her tupperware has no home??

Thank you! I haven't found that to be an issue - but if you're concerned, you could try using a squeegee instead!

Wow 4 gallons a minute! The water must be running constantly in that case 😲 we hand wash dishes that can’t go in the dishwasher.
I don't even use a litre of water when I wash the dishes, I just run it so lightly, wash and rinse.
Great advices!I'm doing similar myself and learned some new, also.❤😊
Glad to hear it ☺️
