  • We just built a 700RWHP 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustang With Bolt-On Mods! Make sure to watch all 3 Stages at www.americanmuscle.com/13-14-s...
    In the 3rd Stage of our GT500 Bolt-On Build-Up, we installed:
    Ford Racing Super Cobra Jet Oval Throttle Body - (07-14 GT500)
    www.americanmuscle.com/frpp-su...
    Stainless Works Off-Road X-Pipe - (07-14 GT500)
    www.americanmuscle.com/stainle...
    Kooks Performance Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Quad Tips - (13-14 GT500)
    www.americanmuscle.com/kooks-a...
    In the third stage of our 2013 and 2014 Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang build we wanted to help our GT500's Exhaust flow better so removed the cats. In place we used the Stainless Works 2 3/4 X pipe installed eliminating the factory cats to help the exhaust flow more effiiciently. We ditched the factory GT500 Axle-Back in place for the Kooks Performance Quad-Tip Axle-Back with their 3" Oval Race Muffler and dual 4" Polished Tips for that signature GT500 look. With the Stainless Works X pipe and Kooks Axle-Back Exhaust installed we created a truly unique and aggressive sound that will make your GT500 stand out from the pack! Lastly we had Ford Racing's Super Cobra Jet Oval Throttle Body installed. Upgrading the throttle body allowed us to get rid of the OEM bottle neck design and force some air into our 5.8l Trinity motor resulting in some great gains! With the newly installed mods in place we were able to put down an explosive 709 horsepower and 727 pound feet of torque, giving us a peak gain of 52 horsepower over our Stage 2 Results, and gains of 65 horsepower and 57 pound feet of torque throughout the curve!
    COMMENT below and let us know what you think we should do next for our 2013-2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 build...

    I think one thing missing from these bolt on build ups would be a before and after 1/4 mile run, that would be really awesome.

      I hear ya Joe, but the only thing hurting us in this case, is our location. We actually filmed this build in the dead of winter when all tracks close to us here in the North East are closed for the season. In fact, if you look closely during the exhaust clip at 2:03 you can see it a little snow falling! We will definitely keep that in mind though for future builds- I want to give the people what they want! Thanks for watching and for the suggestion! -Justin

    Great share! Combine Stages 1, 2 and 3 and you're looking at just over 3K and that is huge! I think the only thing I would do different is the exhaust setup. I like the sound made by the Shelby 1000. Of course a lot more is done to that engine internally to help with its sound but the exhaust note from it's setup is unparalleled so I would try to replicate it initially with the same setup exhaust wise to start.

    I am a huge Mustang fan, and also a big fan of Carroll Shelby. In 2014, there is no doubt that these pony cars were the cheapest muscle cars to buy and modify. Closest bang for the buck competitor was the base Chevrolet corvette. Those were about equally priced, a tad cheaper, but the engines were not designed to produce huge power stock. Those cars typically could handle 650hp safely boosted, I believe it was up to 6.5psi. This Shelby was definitely cooler, more advanced, offers a backseat, and is more iconic than a mass produced baseline corvette.

    What stage would the whip ole super charger kit be if added to this stage three set up. I'd love to see you do a video adding this kit and other parts needed to run it. Love the videos. I have a 2013 gt 500. Based on these mods U won't have to spend $40,000 sending my car to Shelby for a supersnake conversion. Looks like if save a lot just adding your parts from the site. Please let me know. Sweet upgrades on this video too.

    Seems like great gains! Couple of questions. A lot of people were wondering where the Long tubes were and I agree, especially if you’re deleting cats anyways. Is there notable power over these parts going with headers? Also I noticed on the graphs that you guys weren’t taking advantage of the 7k rpm in this stage 3 kit. Was the computer cutting it out? Thanks and I love you guys’ content.

Any thoughts?

    Great video! I've got a bone stock 2014 GT500 myself, (if you wanna see it it's in my latest video), and I was just wondering if a 3.4 Whipple would do good for my car. I'm not gonna do the 2.9 Whipple because its simply too small and I want to go big. I am definently gonna do more mods too. Gonna add a JLT Carbon Fiber CAI, Cobra Jet Throttle Body, 2.4 Upper Pulley, Custom Tune, 3.4 Whipple, and keeping the stock exhaust but removing the cats. Also, what kind of numbers do you think I could put down with these mods? Hoping over 750 crank horsepower. Thanks.

    Which x-pipe is in this build I didn't catch the exact one in vid, I'm in process now of purchasing a 2014 GT500 stock w/ 12k miles and want to do all three power packs. But need to know which parts to order? Also noticed your site doesn't list the CAI in carbon fiber or for stock GT500 supercharges where can I find it, and why do you no longer carry the innovators west balancer? Thx guys and great work, your videos got me back into mustangs after a 20yr laps. Lol.

      That's awesome Greg- glad to hear we helped reignite the 'Mustang Flame' after all these years! If you hit the 'show more' button underneath the video it will give you the parts used along with the links to the individual products our site. That particular x-pipe is made by stainless works and is designed to work with the factory manifolds. Unfortunately we do not currently carry the carbon fiber JLT or the Innovators West balancer at this time- sorry Greg. Thanks again for the kind words and good luck with your build! -Justin

    • @Twobarpsi
      @Twobarpsi 5 лет назад +2

      No, the only issue would be the clutch. If you launch at 2000 RPM's or less, you won't have any problems. If you're launching at 4000 RPMs on slicks, you will burn out the clutch, or bend the axles.

    It's an awesome car, but desperately needs cams. Look at the drop off after 6k. If you can keep that power up to 6500, watch the E.T.s drop substantially. It's still a nice package you guys have though.

      @davewhitegt 10 лет назад +2

      Completely understandable, I wasn't dissing the build at all, amazing what just simple bolt ons do to this car. Was just an observation that cams would completely unlock the full potential of this set up.

      Hey David, thanks for watching and for the response! I would say 'desperately' needing cams is a bit of an overstatement. In fact many of the fastest ET/highest HP 5.8's still utilize the stock cams. I definitely don't think it would hurt, but if anything a blower swap might be money better spent. ;) -Justin

    I have a question, what is the different between a normal Exhaust Pipe and a X-Pipe thanks for help. Greats Chris

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  10 лет назад

      Hey Chris, thanks for watching and good question! The factory GT500 exhaust includes an H-Pipe for a mid-pipe, which will give you a little deeper tone and a little more low end torque. On the other hand, the X-pipe will give you a little more rasp and volume along with slightly higher top-end gains. A lot of it really boils down to what kind of sound you are going for as the difference in gains is usually minimal. Hope this helps and thanks for watching! -Justin

      The hellcat has the numbers, but it also has the weight. I think a stock 13-14 Shelby can take the new hellcatt (if only a few tenths). Current testing show the hellcat a couple of tenths slower (and a little mph down ) than the latest Shelby.

    Should have done the TB in stage 1. It’s silly to put a big tube and CAI on a car with a bottle neck TB.

      As a 'car fan' in general, its hard not to be impressed with the Hellcats power numbers. And in the end we all win- with Mopar releasing that 700HP monster they are only stoking the flames of the Horsepower Wars. Now we just have to wait and see how Ford will respond. Either way, Its a great time to be a fan of Muscle Cars! -Justin

    Did I hear that correctly, the car is NOT running catalytic converters?

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  9 лет назад

      Correct Charles, "Off-road" mid-pipes typically do not include cats. If you are not willing to ditch the cats completely, there are several options out there that include a shorty or high-flow cat. A "catted" mid-pipe should keep Johnny Law happy, but will not give you quite as big of gains as you would see with an Off-road. Hope this helps! -Justin

    How much power would it make without using the catless x pipe?
    I mean having more power is good but having
    A catless car means it's super pollutant and smells really bad( and it's bad if you have friends following you with a car)
    this car does like 5mpg when WOT

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  9 лет назад +1

      dimmacommunication A properly tuned car shouldn't have any issues at all with gas mileage. You should be seeing a little bit better than stock with all of these mods installed (as long as you can keep your foot off the gas! Haha ). However, I can definitely understand where you would want catalytic converters instead of an off-road X-pipe to keep from having to worry about having a "fume heavy" car. You really would only see maybe 10HP loss peak at the most if you get an X-pipe that has high-flow catalytic converters. The car won't be anything like the off-road X-pipe in terms of smell and the guys over at Bama Performance can make sure that your lambda air/fuel ratio is spot on during cruise all the way to wide-open-throttle which will eliminate that problem, as well! -Chris

      Honestly..especially in states that crack down on exhaust mods, it is not really worth the chance of being caught without converters. The stock car is already hovering around 600rwhp and for a street car you probably don't need any more than that with street tires working on a street surface. If you go to the dragstrip or road course (assuming there are no sound limitations) you can remove them..you just have to put them back on if you drove the car there (takes like 20 minutes to swap them out).
