I bought my Roush stage3 from Town and Country (drove 600 miles to get it) and I love it, but I think I need a Ruby Red Gt500 to park next to it so she doesn't get lonely LOL
I love my 2014 Shelby! I am having fun and turning heads...I call her my beast! My husband has a Corvette Z06 and I am having a blast watching him in my rear view mirror!!! ;-)
I have the GT500. I can speak for my experience, and say that the presenter of this video is accurate about the weekend driver and daily driver. My GT500 is my daily driver, but I only drive 1 mile to work each day. Being stuck in traffic is no joke and and definitely is a strain on my left leg. I would still pick the GT500 every time. I love this car. I don't think I could ever drive another car after driving this one. The Roush is a beautiful well built vehicle and either one is an amazing vehicle. It's also a plus that both cars and born and bred in the USA. I can hold my head up high and know that I am driving a true american muscle car.
i'd go with GT500. Can't beat the intangibility of the name. The Shelby logo on the back is also perfect - along with the dual stripes. Then there's the interior that's miles better than the GT. Great review, though. I'd love to have you as my sales rep.
Night Kid That's what I thought, until I got inside their 900. Its basically a BMW and Mercedes hybrid as far as interior goes. Probably not the same quality, but it is nice...
As far as upgrading a Shelby you have to consider that there are simple bolt ons that will give you upwards of 700hp at the rear wheel. Ok, that isn't that big a of deal until you consider the fact that the engine is fully forged and the GT motor that Roush built is not. The GT motor would require substantial bottom end work to achieve the horsepower the Shelby is capable of putting out and supporting straight out of the box. I have a 2013 Shelby and sold a 2003 Terminator not long ago. Personally I think the Shelby and the Cobras are and will always be the mustang that sets the bar in the pony car world.
I've got a V6 2014 Mustang, ordered a 2015 V4 Ecoboost Mustang.. Can't wait to compare them both together! But Dude, you've got to love the sound of that Roush, it's wonderful!
I have a 2014 GT500 exactly like the one in the video, sterling gray, black stripes, track pack etc. I'm getting ready to do some mods done the car, hopefully to get it to around 700-750 rwhp. I've had her for around 3 or 4 months and she rides really good! I've got it to 140 so far on a road beside the highway and it didn't take very long but I didn't want to go faster because I was afraid there might've been a cop around the corner. But I also think the Roush Stage 3 is an amazing car also, and I like the fact that they included a V6 version too!
the GT500 has around 590hp on the wheel, correct me if I am wrong, if you want 700-750rwhp, then u prob need badass headers with long tube, custom cam, better heads and intake, and good tuning, then ur good to go
Please do not go that fast on a public road. Very irresponsible. I'm jealous though. I'd love to have that car for that price. Just obnoxious, fun speed. So what if it can't handle and it's raw. I'd have a blast with it every time.
You asked for brake feedback. My 2011 GT has the 14" Brembo brake kit. I swapped out the stock DOT 3 fluid for synthetic DOT 4, and I can spend the entire day at the track on the road course...no brake fade at all. I think it's the fluid that makes a difference.
I just got a roush stage 3 inside totally different plus 675 HP and the exhaust is an adjustable plus with a phone alp can even tune it more. I love mine the traction control has a hard time keeping up when it's set for track.
Great video thank you , very informative for me ! How ever , I still undecided between the Roush and SVT Cobra ,, one question as I'm a new Mustang enthusiast where is the Steve Saleen Mustang ?
The Roush is an attempt to build up a 5 liter GT to closely simulate that which a Shelby comes with from the start. The big difference is how each is set up for the ultimate performance potential if, that is what one is after. Whether it is the 5.4 or 5.8 liter Shelby they are both all aluminum and are designed to be built up to almost 1,000 hp. Something that a 5.0 GT is just not prep'd for.
+Ken Griep True man, you have a point....I make 617RWHP though and have major trouble putting that power to the road(that is with plenty of suspension upgrades).....My question, At some point is HP more just a bragging right on a dyno??? I know in a 1/4 some GT's making 450 RWHP will beat some Shelby 800 HP beast....
I bought a 2013 Roush Stage, and when I was in the market most Shelby's were $10,000 to $20,000 over MSRP. Plus there are a lot of Shelby's out there compared to the Roush. I live in San Antonio TX and have not seen one Roush Stage 3. I'll see about 5-10 Shelby's a month. Don't get me wrong I love both, but Roush was more my price range.
I got my GT500 at MSRP..I've probably seen only 1 other '13 or '14 Shelby in my city...other than that there is just a lot of new 5.0s and the occasional Roush (in NCal). Depends on your location I guess.
The transmission in the Shelby is all I need to make this decision. A much stronger, more robust trans. The Rousch has the standard GT trans and it’s just not a good transmission…
In my opinion, the Roush is pointless unless you can get one super cheap. The GT500 is the faster car, and can be had for under 60 grand. This particular one is optioned up to 64k. The engine can reliably make over 800 horsepower with just bolt-ons, pulley swap, and tune. This guy seems to really favor the Roush. I bet he makes more money selling it. The other issue that I have with the Roush is that the transmission is still the MT-82. I've owned 2 Mustangs with the MT-82, and I wouldn't want to put almost 600 horsepower and over 500 lb/ft of torque through it. I think it does just fine stock or with bolt-ons, but adding a blower changes the whole equation.
That's the way its been ever since the Terminator Cobra came into existence. The Cobra is always the better car all around and cheaper. I remember seeing Ford dealerships back in the day showing off the supercharged Saleen Mustang next to the 2003 Cobra, the Cobra had the better suspension, more horsepower and torque, arguably better looks, and was about 5-10 grand less. GT500 is now the same exact way. Roush, Saleen, doesn't matter, neither offer a competitor price per HP vs the GT500.
Correct! My 2013 is make 805 BHP or 705 rwhp! with just air intake, 2 65mm body throttle, 15% overdrive pulley, and tuned pump has that is it! Stock full exhaust! Then I put full exhaust and it roar over 770 rwhp! And over 860 BHP! ;) 207 mph in 1.0 mile passing on the freeway. Odometer I press 0.00 and make it 0.9 mile and I see GPS SHOWED 203 mph!!
robert pope No, I repeat no exhaust added 70 rwhp....cmon bro. I have kooks headers with a custom tune as well, but don't exaggerate....70rwhp is a ton. You might get 30 to 40 additional....
this is a great review as not just saying one or another is better than one another, reviewing every point each car have and their specs, I was expected to show only good points on Shelby gt500 but liked the part where also telling about roush stage 3
I own a 2014 ROUSH STG 3, 6 speed. I am a 72 year old women and I love it. My first car was a 1964 Mustang and my last car be a Mustang. Most Mustangs I’ve own were GT’s, loved them but my ROUSH is my favorite.
Love the video. I am the proud owner of a 2014 ruby red GT500. You are spot on correct that this car is not an everyday driver.i got the track pack 821 performance group and I also opted for the electronics package. It's,"corvette stingray" expensive but you get what you pay for. Driving in everyday traffic is something that you gotta get used to.first gear requires a little more throttle if you're not used to a car with 3.36 gears, you will have to get used to it, because it will keep you,"focused".I have yet to push it to 200 or even try that, but I do know that it's alot faster than the 2011 GT500 we traded for.
Thanks for the input, beautiful car you have there! With 1st gear being geared so high, just idling through 1st gear is nearly too fast for parking lots and especially stop and go traffic. Other than that and the stiff performance clutch I don't think it would be a problem.
I’ve got the rs3, I haven’t had much over heating on the brakes. I try to balance a little heat to the gears between braking here and there, before and after neutral. Just so the brakes don’t take all the heat to stop.
Great comparison. Very informative. I would buy a car from this guy because he has good product knowledge. Also his opinion has some value because he knows a lot more about these two vehicles than the average buyer. He also instill confidence that he knows what he's talking about.
Hi Doug, yes I know that prior to 2011 they were cast as I had driven several between 2007 to 2010 before buying my 2011 last spring. It was never driven so I fell upon a rare find (136 miles). This year I upgraded engine and drivetrain and is a much different ride. 1 PC Alum D/S, spherical LCA, Adjust/PH Bar & a Steeda shifter. Engine is producing Approx 800 fwhp. I am speaking to a speed shop regarding the Methanol Injection System(Snow Pkg) as it is a safer environment than Nitrous. I know there are people who prefer one over the other but my inclination is to go Snow.
It's been my dream car since it was reintroduced in 2007. I just bought a 2014 GT500 about a month ago. It's got bolt ons to the engine, headers and exhaust, with super snake hood, front chin spoiler, rims and nitro drag radials. 9600 miles. It's a 750+ hp beast.
Well, first of all thanks for doing such a good job describing all of the differences between the two! For my money I think that I would have to go with the roush stage 3, and upgrade the brakes to shelby GT500!
I like your approach...but you left out some key things about the Shelby. 6 piston vs. 4-piston Brembo brakes, carbon fiber drive shaft, upgraded clutch/tranny, diff/trans/engine cooling package, Recaro seats...and let's not forget about the Shelby name...which I'm certain will help to improve resale value. If price were comparable I would definitely go the Shelby route. In addition, the SVT engine platform is a completely hand built motor...not an enhanced GT 5.0 motor with all stock internals. I wonder how insurance companies deal with the Roush since it has a GT VIN#.
My insurance company classifies my GT500 as a collectors car rather than a sportscar. So I don't pay as much as someone who has a straight GT. I'm not sure if the Roush would qualify as a collector's vehicle.
Just curious whats the torque rating of the Roush is..and at what rpm..because as everyone knows torque is king in drag racing...especially with slicks.
Awesome video, I have driven both the vehicles and purchased the 2014 GT500, not just because of the horse power but, this vehicle was the last set up that the late Mr. Shelby was able to have his stamp of approval on before his passing. For me it is more of a collector item, however I do agree that the Roush has a better daily commute feel to it. I just traded a 2011 Premium Edition Mustang 5.0 that I had customized for the Shelby and I am loving it. I still own a 1999 Cobra (with only 56,000 miles on it) amongst other vehicles so for me driving the GT500 on a daily will not happen so it is perfect for me. Again love the breakdown of these two vehicles in this video.
Decision is now final, will one day be getting a Gotta Have it Green Roush stage 3 convertible over a Shelby GT500. Love the body style for the Roush and the ability to customize it so much more, and it being a better daily driver. Plus the exhaust, to die for!!
I simply love the Shelby GT500 and always a head turner. I have a 2011 model, Grabber Blue fully loaded and it's hard to keep me from driving it. More comfortable to drive than the C6 I owned.
I wonder if you can get all the stock parts from roush since you're paying for it anyway it's not like they take off the price of all the parts they took off
I have a 14' Shelby. I track mine a few times a year. The only thing I changed is the rotors to slotted and drilled. got a deal on a full set. Front calipers are six piston by the way. No brake fade. It can beat 95% of the cars on the track. My second choice would be a Saleen Mustang. 3rd would be a GT build by myself, then 4th, maybe the Roush. The Shelby clutch is not hard to push in. It is very light. It is a dual disc arrangement. Hard, if you have no calf muscle to speak of. It is very "streetable". *No hood struts on the Shelby hood due to the hood being light aluminum. The Shelby has a carbon fiber drive shaft. That's right carbon fiber. Light, strong, perfectly balanced, no vibration. 200mph! Six speed short throw trans shifter. Launch control Traction assist Engine monitoring system Ricaro seats Normal and sport suspension settings with the 821a package Steering settings 24 mpg. 662 hp 631 ft lbs torque. The Shelby's Trinity engine is a 5.8 (355 ci) it's really a small block. Red line is 7-8k. The Trinity engine is assembled in US, but machined and components in Germany. It a light weight V8. It has no piston liners, the block is iron treated somehow with plasma bonding. The engine treatments alone is light years beyond the GT engine. Thats's why a small block can stay together at 662/631 numbers. I put my money 63K in Mr. Shelby's legend. And it hits over 200mph with the 3:31 in the dif. Plus it has a 5year/60,000 mile warrantee (spellck). Hope to see a roush on the track. I like mine
cobramanphil yeah it was a Top Gear episode but it got me thinking ... we Europeans judge car with its lowest specs model, but they said that most basic mustangs werent good, you had to go for the top spec ... even the old ones. So it seems to continue since i found there is special edition of the Mustang that has an independat suspension, its not from Ford i think, its some external company.
Now I just got rid of my Saleen351 I was the original owner and fully customized it I was sad to see it go I kept it for 10 years ... Could you sponsor me with a shelby gt500 super snake and I would honor it well !!!
Now that they're on the used market, I would go with the Roush. It's a better daily driver and has all the power I could ever legally (illegally) use. Also, the Phase kits are extraordinarily simple to change between as they are mostly throttle body and tune changes. RS3 is the better fit for me. I do love a Shelby though. Awesome video!
The changes to bumping a supercharged Rousb or GT500 are both exactly ... Wait no the GT500 is actually slightly easier. While the new 5.0 engine is amazing... All those cars you see have built blocks... Do yourself a favor and get an iron block GT500.... Roush and Saleen are for little kids... I had a 2001? 2002? Saleen s281 Mustang... Same thing then, same thing now... Put a supercharger on it and zoom ... For the time that was a really quick car.. Although the 2001 Saleen Mustang actually looked really good
+Curtis Hickerson You can nab a 2015/16 GT Premium and put a ProCharger HO Stage 2 blower kit on it and be in it for less than the price of a used 2014 Shelby... and that ProCharger will be putting down more HP than the GT500 and S3 Roush.
Pretty good review mitchel. Honestly I knew you weren't gonna be able to test drive the GT500. lol. No one ever really gets to because of dealer policy. BUT I enjoyed your review a lot more than I thought I would in the beginning. It's the suit man!!
Nice review but you said the Roush stage 3 was 575hp and cost 61K. I spoke to the guy that sells these cars and he said the stage 3 is a 750hp car and starts at 70K. Also the shelby you said was 64K. I would like to see any dealership in my state that has a shelby for this price. The cheapest one I have found was 69K starting. So actually both of these cars start approximately at 70K.
Find it a bit hard to believe that the rotors on the brakes are not the cross drilled. The Ford Falcon GT (Australian) has 335mm cross drilled ventilated disc's with 4 pot Brembo callipers up front and 328mm cross drilled and ventilated disc's with single Brembo's on the back.
I thought the grill redesign was for cooling on the GT500. Not aero. The previous 2010-12' has a REALLY hard time keeping IAT's down. In fact, I'm pretty certain the 20013-14 GT500's also add another row or two to the exchanger.
+Town and Country TV This was a great video. I like how you talked about the differences in how they drive. The Roush is better for daily driving, while the GT500 seems to be a track/drag car. I've been looking into GT500's but now i'm leaning more towards a Roush. Mainly because it would be a daily driver, thanks for this great video! Don't be worried about all the negative comments.
Those are badazz looking Stangs, better than the new gen they introduced a while ago. If I can start my car collection, I'll definitely have this. It has the look, the sound, and the power
With both brake packages you really need to go with the cross drilled rotors to stop the brake fade, the solid rotors just don't make the grade. The standard GT brake package is only for shopping trolleys.
I love both cars. I like the look of the Roush better. Too hard to choose between. I would take either one and be happy. They both have more horsepower than my 98 GT.
I have a question I'm saving up at least 10 for a down payment on a car but I don't know whether to get the roush stage 2 for 32,000 or an 04 Cobra svt for 20,000 can you help me with the con's of each other and the pros
Ricochet1616 yes I plan on making it a daily but here in my state they are all sold out of the stage 2's and I wouldn't want to buy a 3 that's a huge jump in money wise
***** What year? $32k sounds like a hell of a deal for a 13-14 RS2. Regardless, 03-04 Terminators are about as pleasant to drive as a dump truck. You'll seriously bulk up some muscle driving one around town lol. My '13 GT is nice and comfy but gets serious when I want it to, which imo is perfect for a daily. Hell I'd even take a newer (non-Roush) base GT over an old Cobra. Just my opinion though.
Couple things to consider. The terminator will be over ten years old. You'll have a to deal with some dated interior stylings. And the mechanical clutch is a pain in the ass. I owned an 04 cobra and loved it but I'm now looking at a 2011-15 GT. the terminators have an all forged engine that can handle 700+ hp probably more. I was able to get 492 at the wheels on the stock un ported blower. That's with every bolt on and a 2.76 pulley and a good tune. The Cobras have an independent rear suspension. Good for corner carving not so much for drag racing. Some people swap in a straight axle. I left it IRS. whenever I get a newer GT I'll probably throw a boss intake on it with full exhaust and a good tune and be done with it. There's pros and cons with each car just depending on what you're waiting to do. $$ comes into play as well. If you save up 10k you'll have half the terminator paid for, that's something to consider. Good luck and have fun.
Both are sweet...I would love either ,lol. However the suspension upgrades to the Roush is better....(Though the Roush is more expensive and you can probably modify the Shelby's...)
I bought a 2012 premier edition roush with a 575 hp upgrade and a 2013 Shelby, I think the Shelby is a much better buy, when I punch the roush I always feel something is missing because the Shelby has incredible acceleration, I also don't like the roush transmission, I always find it want to go into 2nd gear instead of 4th, I have 4 mustangs with standard trans and that is the only one that I miss shift, I also feel the Shelby is a better day to day driver, also to Stephanie what did you do to your car to get the 810 hp. And does anyone know how many premier editions were build in 2012? Roush kept telling me mine was the last one built and would be #17 when I got it it was badged #14?
Good job on the compare and contrast, but may I suggest the importance of wearing your seatbelt when test driving. Driving any car w/o the seatbelt isn't wise, but moreover driving a Shelby GT500 and a Roush...I mean come on. Oh, I would opt for the Shelby. :-)
I think so too, I think it looks better too, this guy was trying to get people to dislike it because he wants to buy it when he saves up enough money and gets his legs into better shape so he can push down the clutch pedal
I ll get the roush stage 3 upgrade to phase 3 tune to 675 hp, I ll get the power as the Shelby and the suspension package, remember guys is not just about going fast, you need a stable car with good suspension it helps in cornering at high speed.
Coolbreeze4u2 why? why would you get a muscle car in an auto? what are you gonna use a roush mustang as a daily driver? seriously. its a serious performance car. treat it with respect and get a proper transmission.
Coolbreeze4u2 oh so because they sell more autos on other models theyre better for all cars? by that logic Justin bieber must be extremely talented because hes sold millions of albums. do you even drive?
Personally I love both cars. But In the end I have to go with the Shelby , because you get more for your money. Hopefully one day I will get the Shelby gt500 in white with white stripes. I loved the video
The Shelby, simply because it's name and i'm old school ! I love them both . If the specialty cars ever ceased I would never dream again . Thanks guys !
I'd take the GT500, just because the Engine has fully forged internals. U have to buy the Alunminator variant of the Roush to get that, cast internals have a hard time lasting naturally aspirated let alone under boost... I can always get some Kook's Long tube Headers, Kook's X-Pipe, & SLP Loudmouth mufflers & have a sound that blows that Roush away... I like Em both but if I wanted a car that will survive when I get on it I'd take the GT500...
+bamarocks777 that is an opinion ford spent a lot of money designing a closed oem cai that was designed to flow colder air. yolodouchbag made valid points
I will go for Roush....Its more advanced to specular suspension conversions and specific aerodaynamics changes thus making the car to its useful needs ....Only Engineers will understand its benifits
I wonder since the Roush is basically a GT the insurance on the car would be quotes as the same? In that instance I'd think the Roush would be a better buy as I would assume the Shelby would be classified as a sports car....Anyone have any ideas?
Mach Won Justin Jett Yes, the Roush shows up as a Mustang GT VIN. So insurance would be the same as a Mustang GT. However, you would most likely want to insure add-on's just in case.
Town and Country TV Ok. I figured there would be an insurance loop hole in there as well. For instance my moms G35 coupe is considered a sports car and my dad's Corvette is considered a luxury car even though the Vette clearly beats the G.
The 13-14 mustangs are in my opinion the most beautiful mustang ever designed
Damn right
By far
Amen that 2014 Shelby gt500 is the most beautiful car besides the 06 Ford GT And McLaren f1
😂😂😂 says everyone who can’t afford the later generation
@@snowflake4656I can’t afford either yet this gen is still the best
I bought my Roush stage3 from Town and Country (drove 600 miles to get it) and I love it, but I think I need a Ruby Red Gt500 to park next to it so she doesn't get lonely LOL
I love my 2014 Shelby! I am having fun and turning heads...I call her my beast!
My husband has a Corvette Z06 and I am having a blast watching him in my rear view mirror!!! ;-)
relationship goals
Rich people problems
Ater 130 mph the z06 still kick s the Shelby ass to 200 (so dad but true)
Lol yeah I bet you're really in his rear view lol

Great story, thanks for sharing.
How did you ever survive the cable clutch years? You know, every Mustang pre-2005.
The hydraulic twin disc clutches are light bro, walk more
Anyone else get chills down their back every time he touches/ slides his hand on the paint, or knocks on it?
i'd go with GT500. Can't beat the intangibility of the name. The Shelby logo on the back is also perfect - along with the dual stripes. Then there's the interior that's miles better than the GT. Great review, though. I'd love to have you as my sales rep.
I agree. Its like a Kia 900 vs a BMW 5 class. Both luxury cars, but who in the right mid would pick the Kia?
HDaviator
That's because you can't have either.
HDaviator WTF you just wrote? WHEN KIA has a luxury? My chair is more luxury than KIA.
I agree., Much better sales rep. My sales rep told me I could use regular gas in my Shelby. Wrong.... voids your warranty.
Night Kid That's what I thought, until I got inside their 900. Its basically a BMW and Mercedes hybrid as far as interior goes. Probably not the same quality, but it is nice...

MazDanRX795
It'd be nearly impossible to hit 200mph on a public country road where I live. Fastest I've been on a public road is about 125 mph.
mustangstrong u should go to germany to drive cars like that on public roads (well maybe u need to change your exhaust lol)
NolA BigFan
Or just a ported blower, throttle body, intake, tune and 2.4" upper pulley.
You asked for brake feedback. My 2011 GT has the 14" Brembo brake kit. I swapped out the stock DOT 3 fluid for synthetic DOT 4, and I can spend the entire day at the track on the road course...no brake fade at all. I think it's the fluid that makes a difference.

You won't be disappointed it's a beast. I have a stage 3 phase 3 675hp and it's a hellcat killer.
You'll notice he says you'll notice a hell of a lot.
I think it does just fine stock or with bolt-ons, but adding a blower changes the whole equation.
and what about your warranty.
mainlymusicman I don't want to have to use my warranty that much. I want the car on the road, not having problems.
I think they should've kept the Roush out of the Shelby's price range.
I own a 2014 ROUSH STG 3, 6 speed. I am a 72 year old women and I love it. My first car was a 1964 Mustang and my last car be a Mustang. Most Mustangs I’ve own were GT’s, loved them but my ROUSH is my favorite.
At 15:34 where the hell did the music come from? Doesn't fit, I don't think.
Charles Baker IKR I feel like I should be riding horseback with a bow and arrow😂
Yeah I can't drive this car ever day but I enjoy it as much as possible
I have a 2013 sterling gray gt500 821 pack and it's a friggin beast,,,I love racing it.
You have my dream car! Exact same color combinations and packages! I wish to own one some day
Never too late dude.
I love the Roush and I'll go with it anyday, anytime.
I love the Shelby it is my Dream car!!!!
+Lucky Calderon me too!!
Miracle Design مي طووو
Frank Castle مي طوو ها؟! هههههههه 😄🤦🏽♂️👍🏽
Me too!!!
I've read the open grill on the gt500 is too allow more airflow to cool the engine since it tends to overheat.
Can we able to make the Shelby gt loud like the roush
Well, first of all thanks for doing such a good job describing all of the differences between the two! For my money I think that I would have to go with the roush stage 3, and upgrade the brakes to shelby GT500!
I noticed he stated ' the more louder exhaust '. What exhaust is louder than the roush?
2011 Mustang GT Premium owner here... and am so glad I placed my preorder for the 6th Gen Camaro 2SS.
Great video. I do like the Roush a lot but I would have to pick the Shelby. That cobra is so cool and the amount of power it has is just awesome.
My dad has the GT500 Super Snake. I have the Roush stage 3. We turn heads like crazy when we pull up.
Jeff I agree and why I chose RS3 myself. As far as warranty you still have the b2b customary 36,000 mile. Yes I have the 11.0:1
Just curious whats the torque rating of the Roush is..and at what rpm..because as everyone knows torque is king in drag racing...especially with slicks.
On the roush, can you tell me what wheel and tire sizes are on the front and back? Are these cooper RS3's?
The 2013 was the last one had he had his hand in on
13 14 same car.
Decision is now final, will one day be getting a Gotta Have it Green Roush stage 3 convertible over a Shelby GT500. Love the body style for the Roush and the ability to customize it so much more, and it being a better daily driver. Plus the exhaust, to die for!!
whats the ratio of decals per /$1000 from a roush and a shelby?
Best car comparison on the internet
I currently have 2013 GT, looking to get it converted by the Shelby folks in Las Vegas. Do you guys have a gt350 review?
I simply love the Shelby GT500 and always a head turner. I have a 2011 model, Grabber Blue fully loaded and it's hard to keep me from driving it. More comfortable to drive than the C6 I owned.
Gotta LOVE that Grabber Blue!!!
Excellent presentation! I still don't know which one I'd pick though....
I wonder if you can get all the stock parts from roush since you're paying for it anyway it's not like they take off the price of all the parts they took off
Very good video :) Would of liked to of have the Saleen in the mix as well.
Launch control
Traction assist
Engine monitoring system
Ricaro seats
Normal and sport suspension settings with the 821a package
Steering settings
24 mpg.
662 hp
631 ft lbs torque.
I like mine
Does it still have the 1980's rear axle that cant handle corners?
The Shelby handles quite well...look up lightning lap and see the car it beats..it is not a corner carver like a 911, but it is no slouch either.
cobramanphil
yeah it was a Top Gear episode but it got me thinking ... we Europeans judge car with its lowest specs model, but they said that most basic mustangs werent good, you had to go for the top spec ... even the old ones. So it seems to continue since i found there is special edition of the Mustang that has an independat suspension, its not from Ford i think, its some external company.
HowkeyLL
The 2015 mustang has IRS..is that what you mean???
cobramanphil
yep, the live axle was terrifying when i drove the 2005 in Europe. But im not fond of the new mondeo-like-a-like version :(
The standard 5.0 GT is only 0.1 sec slower than a more expensive BMW M3 (E92) around Willow Springs Raceway so I'm pretty sure it can handle corners
Now I just got rid of my Saleen351 I was the original owner and fully customized it I was sad to see it go I kept it for 10 years ... Could you sponsor me with a shelby gt500 super snake and I would honor it well !!!
Good job comparing the 2 models. Very informative.
It's the suit man!!
what mufflers do the both of the cars have
Nice review but you said the Roush stage 3 was 575hp and cost 61K.
I got a 2004 SVT cobra
Mustangs are like assholea
Everyone has one bud lol
like that car had a 06
G Taylor Yup no bail outs
Fee Rick Terminator!!!
+G Taylor u don't see many termi's out there.
probably less than 10k even in existance these days.
Awesome machines love your informative videos.
Good review I normally don't like car dealers that do review because all they care about is selling the car but you did a good job.
AM LOOKING AT THE ROUSH. HOPING TO get it soon
I love both cars. Good job sir on the information. I will buy one soon from you. Hope to see you convince me which in person.
Good info but.... No seat belt? No drag race?
Great informative video...I would choose the Shelby over the Roush personally....neither are a daily driver IMO....
12:13 "the clutch will make sure you left calf is bigger than the right" depends how much you mash that gas peddle too
Great video it's a toss up. May be the Roush as a daily. Nice break down on the cars.
The standard GT brake package is only for shopping trolleys.
nice video.. perfect comparison. only thing is missing is a drag race.but amazing comparison.
I would get a roush and getting one this summer
I LOVE my Roush!!! Wouldn't take a Shelby. They are super sweet cars but I prefer my 427R. Can't wait for the 15!
Awesome review man! Id def go with gt500 yo! 662 hp😍
I love both cars. I like the look of the Roush better. Too hard to choose between. I would take either one and be happy. They both have more horsepower than my 98 GT.
+Town&country guys appreciate your video on Gt 500 and The Rs3 it was actually a pretty good and enjoyable one... well done keep up the good work 👍
I have a question I'm saving up at least 10 for a down payment on a car but I don't know whether to get the roush stage 2 for 32,000 or an 04 Cobra svt for 20,000 can you help me with the con's of each other and the pros
***** You'd be much happier in any 2011+ Mustang over a Terminator, assuming it will be your daily driver.
Ricochet1616 it was a 2014 rs2 but now the rs3 are about 55k and that's a lot the 5.0 2015 are about 40K over here
Couple things to consider.
I bought the RS3 and never looked back, Its presently a phase 2 with 621 rwhp
Both are sweet...I would love either ,lol.
However the suspension upgrades to the Roush is better....(Though the Roush is more expensive and you can probably modify the Shelby's...)
Not only are they staggered they are inside outside and directional. So each corner has a specific tire.
I raced a Roush the other day with my stage 2 WRX. We were neck-and-neck. I didn't know what it was, first I thought it was a de-badged Cobra.
Great comparison. Wish I had the money for these vehicles. Still trying to find a mustang for a first car :/
I DO NOT like that we (americans) sell cars based on rebates. We are talking about 60k toys. Sell on substance.
Good review and comparison of both cars!
I personally think the GT500 sounded better
MisterDopeTunes p
I personally know that you sir are correct.
I think so too, I think it looks better too, this guy was trying to get people to dislike it because he wants to buy it when he saves up enough money and gets his legs into better shape so he can push down the clutch pedal
I just looked at a 14 stage 3 rousch . The exhaust may as well be straight pipes. It is obnoxiously loud.
I ll get the roush stage 3 upgrade to phase 3 tune to 675 hp, I ll get the power as the Shelby and the suspension package, remember guys is not just about going fast, you need a stable car with good suspension it helps in cornering at high speed.
That's what I have and it's a great car.
I've had my 2014 Shelby for about seven months now and I haven't experienced and brake fade.
Can you get a Rousch with an automatic transmission?
If you get a 550 hp track ready mustang in an automatic you have serious problems.
Damn dude, that insult really hurt my feelings hahaha
Coolbreeze4u2 are you 12? "you have a stupid name LOL"? come back when you're old enough to drive
Do either of these have a cold air intake?
All cars have cai but they aren't as good as aftermarket ones
+bamarocks777 that is an opinion ford spent a lot of money designing a closed oem cai that was designed to flow colder air. yolodouchbag made valid points
The Shelby does
I will go for Roush....Its more advanced to specular suspension conversions and specific aerodaynamics changes thus making the car to its useful needs ....Only Engineers will understand its benifits
Are all Roush Stage 3 Legal in the State of CA?
The exhaust that is comes with is not, that is why it has to be installed post-title
Got it thanks, I guess if one buys a used one and file electronic to change title it should be ok..
i like the fog lights at the bottom looks better than on the stock GT
Nice video comparison. For the money and possible resale I would go for the Shelby but for the everyday driver the Roush wins out
For a daily driver the Roush would be my pick, but if I wanted to take one to a regional drag strip the Shelby GT500 would be my pick.
