in my opinion, the X or E series is best if you like to bring your laptop with you somewhere, and the T and W series if you are just going to use it at home (im talking about the older ones, about until 480), i have a thinkpad e470, and everything about it is great, it barely generates heat because of the i3 6006u, but the hinges seem kinda meh. if you are looking for a modern and a powerfull laptop, just get a framework, they are way better than any modern thinkpad, and its worth it in the long run.

The T440 is a bargain, especially with an i7. They go for cheap because the touchpads stink. Just add a Bluetooth mouse. I put thousands of hours on a used one and it is now my backup.
I bought a 2 year old thinkpad with intel i7, nVidia quadro and 4k hdr 100% color gamut screen for a little over $450. And it had only 8 battery cycles, basically brand new 😂
I had an older model t460p and it was never that great maybe 4-6 hours when the battery was new but the cool thing with older models is you can carry extra batteries to swap out easily
