  • The last Uncharted game was released six years ago now, but I had never played it before today. So the question is, how is Uncharted: The Lost Legacy when playing it for the first time, six years after it's release? Well, this brief video will find the answer to that question as we conclude the Uncharted Retrospective!

Lost Legacy is honestly underappreciated. It’s Uncharted 4 but with less story and more non-linear gameplay, a lot better paced due to the short length, made Chloe and Nadine much more rounded characters, and showed that Uncharted could thrive without Drake because the supporting cast was always good enough to drive a narrative.
I’m glad Uncharted has been on ice but I wouldn’t say no to another game like this.

That whole play tester having a meltdown reminded me of one aspect I don't like about U4:
Why did they change the melee combat like this if there's going to be forced hand to hand combat sections? Like there's no block nor counter option, only attack and grab. It makes the Nadine fight a cutscene with extra steps really. Wouldn't it be better to also have a counter option, and then during the Nadine fight the player has to time those counters just to stay alive, now establishing through gameplay that even if Nathan does his best it can only help him survive a little longer. Now it's actual gameplay where the same point still stands, but the player also needs to put effort in so they can survive at all.

Then I got the ps4 several years later that came bundled with uncharted 4. Played through that and was instantly in love.
I finally got the collection about 6 months ago and had so much f*cking fun with that, seeing all of Nathan's past adventures finally through my own eyes and game play.
I just finished playing the Lost Legacy last night. I can see myself playing through this whole franchise several times over for the next few years without getting tired of it once.

I don't want to make it sound like a bad thing. But I noticed that "The Lost Legacy" has similar character tropes, like "Golden Abyss".
For example: Both have Female character that wants to finish what Father started, and also in both the Villain is a Warlord that wants treasure too secure it's own dictatorship.

If you want to say Neil Duckmann is a hack for using the same ideas within the same series, that’s alright. • @krimsonkatt
      @krimsonkatt Год назад +2

@@rayvenkman2087 Heck, even my crappy RPG Maker games are better then Uncharted since I have over 30 of their concepts made and like 4 of them are basically the same plot of "characters trapped in VR/false reality/pocket dimension/dream world without them knowing with false identities and memories, need to find the truth of their existance by subverting expectations and then killing the admin/false god." The nature of reality and free will is a major aspect of my stories, so it tends to come up a lot. That's less than uncharted where 2/6 of the games have literally the same plot, which is 1/3rd or 33%.

I really liked Asav because he really was just as intelligent as the crew and easily more skilled of a fighter than Nadine, who we had seen in U4 outclass both Nate and Sam like it was nothing. Also his genuine intrigue for the treasure and not something like the other antagonists were. Where (besides Lazarevic) did it for money or just to say they did it(which I like Rafe's motivation for). Asav had the same sort of want for the treasure as Lazarevic did, as they genuinely wanted the treasure not just to make them rich and that is so much more fun to see. But Asav having an all-out brawl with the crew at the end I think was much more fun than Lazarevic chasing you around. He also has the same shoulder holster Nate does, which is always a plus.

Yet somehow him and his brother are utterly helpless against a 140 pound mercenary woman at the same time? Like someone who played through all those games won't just go "wtf is this?".

Nadine could've been any race or gender and I still would've hated the character. I know she's not actually a villain, but she never did anything in Uncharted 4 to not get a comeuppance of some kind. All other characters who did bad things in the franchise usually got what they deserved in some way. Nadine didn't in 4. Anyway I'm not a fan of that character, but I'll still try Lost Legacy sometime.

The origin point of when ND started to flush their reputation they acquired since Crash Bandicoot down the toilet or a sign of what was to come where Neil’s creative voice really starts bleeding through?
I can’t recall much of what happened in LL as well as I have with 4. The main villain while interesting doesn’t stick with you as much as the others, the settings’ nice but not as memorable as some of the other games, Chloe feels more bland in this but I can’t put my finger on why that is, the puzzles are more annoying to solve and Shoreline feels like slightly more beefed versions of the terrorists you’re already dealing with than a group that gives you a lot of trouble along the way. It’s eh when I actually think about it.
Orca as a villain was wasted as a character in this since we only see him in one chapter and he’s dead in the same chapter.
The action set pieces doesn’t hit as hard as 4’s but it’s always going to be an uphill battle to too that game’s long Chase Scene.
Feels like the story is rushed in areas with the chapter lengths we have. Where’s Charlie and Victor in all of this?
Gameplay-wise, it’s more of the same as 4 with not much else done to spruce it up from what’s already laid down.
As far as standalone DLCs goes, it’s not bad but there’s been better ones before and after Lost Legacy.

Yet when I played this one I genuinely really liked and enjoyed it. Idk what made me enjoy it so much maybe because it was more action heavy because one thing I did love about 4 was the combat and a game where more of that is in it I’m down.but maybe because it wasn’t that long so it didn’t stretch out anything. But this game holds up there for me

Uncharted's gameplay is super lame, just a generic TPS cover shooter with action set pieces that are cool to look at but mechanically are basically "hold forward and occasionally press x" and are 99% scripted. However the story in Uncharted 2 and 4 is really good. Uncharted 1's story is just Raiders of the Lost Arc but without any of the fun bits (Nazis getting mutilated, iconic special effects, superior set pieces, etc) and with zombies and Uncharted 3's story is beyond forgettable. 2 weeks later after the video and I can't remember a thing of it outside of the plane set piece and the aftermath. Honestly Naughty Dog should have just switched to doing movies/TV shows starting with the PS3 era. Their games post-PS2 are basically playable movies anyways and if done well the games work WAY better as a TV show or movie than as a "game" as shown with TLOU's show on HBO. It sucks that the Uncharted movie was so bad due to the writers trying to shove every single game's plot and every iconic set piece into one movie with arguably the worst casting choices I have ever seen. Awkward teenager MCU Spiderman as Nathan Drake, REALLY?

@@jackluffy7914 They haven't made a truely great game since Jak 2, which came out in the early 2000s. Starting with the PS3 ND over-focused on making "playable movies" rather than real games with fun gameplay. And then with the insane success of TLOU1 and the very end of the PS3's life that caused Sony to restructure EVERYTHING about their games going forward turning PlayStation from the home of history's greatest platformers and RPGs during the PS1/PS2 era to the home of overly gritty movie games with buff female protagonists and no soul.
The only reason to buy a PS4 was the exclusives from Square Enix and SEGA, (+Spiderman which was made by PS' last good studio) but that became irrelevant when both companies ported everything to PC and Switch once that came out. Sony killed/rebooted every single one of their series to turn them into super linear cinematic action games with no soul. We got ONE new main series Rachet and Clank game since the Future Trilogy ended and that's just sad, and most of their other actually good series either got rebooted into oblivion (God of War for example) or got killed off/bought out and became multiplatform. (Sly, Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, any other Squaresoft RPG, Persona, Tales Of, anime games, Metal Gear, etc) Heck, most of their current mainline franchises (such as Horizon) were made during the PS4 era.
Nintendo, Indies, SEGA, (minus Sonic Team) Capcom, and occasionally Namco and Square are the only companies making good games anymore. PlayStation has been gaslit by the fake gamers who hate fun and only want to watch a movie and all the western devs are greedy scumbags who fill every game they make with P2W microtransations, loot boxes, season passes, battle passes, daily/weekly events, all online gameplay, in-game ads, forced eSports features, intentional grindfests, fleeting trends, etc because they saw how the mobile market was doing and saw dollar signs. All Microsoft does is buy up popular to semi popular indie companies to make into XB exclusives that they usually just end up porting to everything else anyways, they don't make their own games anymore and when they do they suck. (Halo Infinite) Gaming isn't dead, but it's certainly struggling but thanks to western devs and Sony being absolute garbage, but luckily with have indies, Nintendo, and various other JP companies to hold us through. I'm so glad I'm a Nintendo kid who managed to survive the dark days of the Wii U largely unscathed. If I grew up with the PS2 instead I don't know what I would have done with Sony's recent decisions. Screw PlayStation, screw Xbox, PC+Nintendo master race now and forever. Selling my PS4 and all my games for it was such a good thing for me I can't even.

I have no idea why the interviewer asked Niel Druckman about Antia Sarkeesian. Were they trying to cause drama or something? They knew that no matter what Druckman said afterwards it would cause drama, right? Because anyone with half a brain knows that almost anything that lady says about games is bullcrap. Yes, there is some casual sexism in some video games (usually M rated "manly men" shooters/action games and older games) and in certain communities even sometimes blatant racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc, but gaming isn't inherently sexist as a whole and that lady CONSTANTLY get things wrong about the things she talks about in her videos. Naughty Dog has nothing to do with Anita and it's very unlikely Anita had any sort of direct influence unlike what anti-SJW conspiracy theorists like Yellow Flash claim.
Despite how much I despise the story and characters of TLOU2, at least Neil Druckman is right in this specific senario. Like, why does it matter what gender a character is if it changes nothing? If men and women are equal, it shouldn't matter what their gender is and what role they play. Drake has lost to countless people before, (mostly men) so how is losing to Nadine any different? That guy who raged at Drake having a daughter instead of a son and losing to a woman was stupid. Like, does it matter? No, it doesn't.
While it is true that a man at the same equivalent power level as a woman would beat the woman in general strength, the woman would beat the man in non-strength related agility and a well trained female MMA fighter can mess up like 99% of the male population. In the end gender differences aren't THAT major. An untrained man can't beat a well trained woman, it's just not possible. It's not like men and women different species, they're the same species just with different hormone levels causing different types of development.
Of course, Drake isn't completely worthless in a fight as he's a hardened adventurer, but Nadine could indeed beat him since Nadine is clearly more buff, Nate had a lot of time off adventuring and is rusty, and correct me if I'm wrong but I think Nadine got the jump on him in their fight? But yeah they whole discorse over Niel's comments was stupid since he was right.
On another note, I am interested to hear your views on TLOU2 because I'm getting very unclear messaging if you like the game or not. And if you do, you would literally be the first independent reviewer I've ever seen to like the game as every independent gave it a 0/10, 1/10, or 2/10 (highest I've seen as a 4/10 and that was only because he simped for the QoL) while EVERY "official" reviewer that got review codes (IGN, GameSpot, Game Informer, Kotaku, Polygon, PlayStation Monthly, PC Gamer, GameXplain, etc) gave it a perfect 10/10. I'm pretty sure rating the game a 10/10 was a requirement for getting a review code, which is review botting and is illegal. That game was so bad I can't even.
Metacritic even banned user reviews for TLOU2 so it could keep an untrained perfect 100% review score without having a 0.2% user score right next to it hurting the clout. Not to mention the insane developer abuse and the Laura Bailey sex scandal that was hidden by the media. So many issues with that game, so I'll be very surprised if you are a fan of that disaster.

Neil Druckman is so down bad for Laura Bailey it's unreal. He always casts her in every game he's ever made in since Uncharted 4 as some super buff masculine woman that's super unlikable no matter the universe. It's very clearly his fetish, and there are very real allegations that Niel Druckman sexually assaulted Laura Bailey multiple times while filming sex scenes in mocap for TLOU2. But the media hid the story from the public eye and ignored and actively tried to hide the allegations from the public light, saying it was merely an "alt right conspericy theory." The fact that Niel Druckman is sexualizing A REAL PERSON and making characters that fit his idea of "an ideal woman" (aka a man with female parts and long hair) and casting Laura Bailey as them solely as a fulfillment of his lust, but the abuse allegations make it even worse and if the allegations are true Laura Bailey couldn't refuse his advances since she was under contract and needed the money so she had to act out the sex scenes with Neil many, MANY times.

Heroes aren't restricted to a skin color or gender, nor having minorities/diversified characters isn't just because they want to be "woke". • @krimsonkatt

TLOU1 was only well received because of it's amazing story, cutscene direction, and voice acting. And because most "official" game reviewers don't want to play a game, they want to watch a movie. That's why so many games with incredibly simplistic yet cinematic, movie-like gameplay like everything modern Sony puts out is so heavily praised by games journalists. Those people aren't gamers, they're normies that just want either a mobile addicting timewaster or a "playable movie" with barebones and simplistic gameplay so that they can enjoy the story and characters and nothing else. As a game TLOU as well as uncharted is incredibly bland, uncreative, and unoriginal. Even as a story it has been done before. (every zombie movie ever) But TLOU implements it's story structure so well with relatable yet tragic and deeply flawed characters and an emotional story about loss, family, and hope. You cannot hate on TLOU1 in spite of it's extremely lackluster gameplay because presentation wise it's the best of the best. That's why the TV show has been so successful, taking everything that was good about the game and expanding it and taking away the parts that weren't so great, aka the "game" parts of holding forward and watching dialogue or shooting janky zombies with terrible AI.
Then TLOU2 crapped on everything that made TLOU2 great with a god-awful story, life is strange-tier writing, butchering it's older characters, removing all nuance from the world and story to make it another generic "revenge bad" plot, having one of the main characters that you're SUPPOSTED to relate being instantly hatable as soon as you meet her since she brutally, graphically, and sadistically kills the old MC as her adopted daughter stands helpless in agony, having unessesary sex scenes only made to fetishize Neil Druckman's waifu Laura Bailey and fetishize trans people, extremely poor portrayal of LGBT+ themes, heavy handed anti-theist messaging, overly grimdark, brutal, ultra realistic, sadistic violence that treads the line of an AO rating, (even Berserk wasn't this bad) the review botting due to the review code TOS requiring 10/10 ratings, the crunch and developer abuse worse than any other game ever, the Laura Bailey assault allegations, and countless other things.
TLOU1 still stands as a timeless tale that's way too good to be restricted to crappy generic TPS gameplay and is far better suited to be a movie or TV show, but I do agree that the game should have never gotten a full sequel, especially when that sequel so openly craps on the original and is literally Neil Druckman venting his sadomasochistic fantasies, sapphic fetishism, toxic political views, and lust towards Laura Bailey in the worst way humanly possible. The most we should have gotten was a sequel comic showing the repercussions of Joel's choice on his and Elly's relationship once Elly finds out the truth and the possible salvation of the world from the zombie apocolypse, not a sequel THIS god awful.

I’m expecting to hear about him possessing CP any day now because he gives me that kind of vibe.
TLOU2 singlehandedly destroyed ND’s reputation both for being a sequel that embodies the worst writing aspects of current day sequels/prequels/reboots while doing nothing to innovate the gameplay and for the general scumbaggery the Studio was practicing on the lead up to launch day with Sony not far behind including going after people talking about the leaks.
