Great information, many thanks for that.
I did a test last summer with 3 autoflowers of the same genetics.
One LST only, one topped and one grow only.
The topped one was way behind the other two, the LST one I personally liked the most and it produced the most uniform buds.
But the one I let grow was bigger and had a slightly bigger yield but the distribution of buds was a little uneven but finished a week earlier.

I found deeper the container the bigger the yield

I've seen a buddy grow a 5oz mainlined autoflower. The extra stress seemed to have caused it to start flowering really late. I've trained autos to 6+oz plants with transplanting and topping. Personally, I recommend training auto flowers if healthy.

You can top any auto and LST it, if it's stem is over 4 MM thick at about 18 days. But bent the thinner ones over for LST. I can get regular 8 oncers doing that. and I love the whole process of creating that perfect pegged out snowflake. Basement ganga just did a run and got 342g from an LST'd auto flower.
I'd be interested if anyone has used up lights that fit under under an LST'd canopy. ... recommendations gratefully reseaved..

I just filled 2 QP grove bags from a Gigabud auto that I topped. I'm about to grow a BAM and im going to top it too!

@UbiquitousRomp I'm using 4 mars hydro vg80 bars under my canopy in a 4x8' with very good results. There's 1050w above and 160w below my canopy. I have been running intra canopy lights for a few runs. I'd highly recommend it for people in tents who train thick canopies.

@@fadedmass1662 Thanks for replying Growmie. That is the kind of thing I'm after. But the spec says they are more spectrumed toward clones, seedlings and veg. As I LST i get full light on my buds in those stages and it's the flower period I want to boost from below. I'm not saying they would have no benefit as I'm sure they do. But If I'm going to make the investment, then I'd like something more flower focused.

@UbiquitousRomp I understand that the vg80 is blue leaning. I was leaning towards the red as well when I first thought of doing this. I have a few friends who are experimenting with red leaning lights under there. What I've seen with the vg80 is next to nothing for larf. The lower and mid level buds are all frosty nugs. The lowers are definitely frostier too. There's less of a need to lollipop, and if you turn them on in early flower it reduces stretch tightening the colas up.

@@fadedmass1662 Thanks for you help on this growmie... I run a 600w in my 4x4 about. So As I LST and need a bit of stretch, as my canopy after lolly popping is still only 8 inches off the top of the coco. when would you recommend me turning them on. second week of stretch? For the full 4 weeks of flower.. ?
I always leaf strip for the final week to, as they rippen nicely just on the sugar leaves. So still go all the way to harvest with them?
It's these vg80's then two sets of 2 for my 4x4 or the AC infinity U4's which are only about a foot long, so would need 2 per pot. or even the 3000k TS'5. But you have given me some great info to sleep on here.... thanks Buddy.

Autoflowers are all different. There’s no way you can stereotype growing techniques for them. One thing you can’t argue with is just plant them and let them grow. Don’t fuck with them AT ALL. That is how you let the plant express itself. Every training technique is a risk with autos period.

the best way to train is not train at all. let em grow.
main stem LST is not the way
