Cannot overstate how much I appreciate these design discussions and demonstrations. Especially the insight you give into the thought process and logic behind some of your decisions.

love these classes. I can really learn a lot from looking at the mechs on the paper and from you explaining how each part and line come together.

One of the most basically appealing juxtapositions is the mechanical with the natural. It can be anything organic. Think like a big destructive animal like a mammoth that carries around a plant in glass bubble or something that people think is heartless, but you can see through its chest or how about one of those fish where you can see inside its head but instead of there being an organic inside it’s mechanical. I dunno, I think everybody likes that area Horizon Zero Dawn for example.

You've been a great inspiration to me from way back in the early gnomon DVDs. I had an older snow tractor with tank tracks from your work posted on my wall for many years. I guess the tape got weak and I put it in a box. I found it in my DVD box yesterday in my bed room where I sometimes draw. These designs are awesome. I like the more organic feel.

Learned a lot while sketching along, this format is really nice with the insights you give. I'd be happy to sit along every Sunday with whatever you feel like doing just for the breakdowns alone. I hope you are doing alright, much love.

Hey Scott, I have always admired your work and I own your 'how to draw' book. I'd love to see you do a 'fresh mech' take on the old 80's cartoon 'Dino Riders'. Imo, the way you blend mechanical / natural and the drama of these prehistoric creatures brought back to life in some kind of futuristic setting could be very popular. You are inspiring for an aging tryer like me! Cheers

hey man i'm a real fan of your work and books. id like to be able to one day work my way up to designing and rendering images and concepts in order to create my own stories. watching your work inspires me to try to think out of the box. is there a way you can do some free hand drawing with some of your mechs in a perspective atmopshere? for instance a mech in destroyed city landscape with like ships in a cloudy sky or like a free hand sketch of how you would go about setting that up in a thumbnail kind of manner?

It was not engineered by humans. None of the car makers like to reuse any ideas, or make things consistent. Just a thought to make it more realistic to what humans do.

34k views 🥹 we could have had an entire series of professionally produced videos from the most important illustration instructor the world has ever known but he isn't teaching Instagram anime girls so the world didn't care.
How very disappointing you are, humans...
