Nice. What did you use for the animation?
I think, even in your example designs, mid section would be a problem, since it's too weak to hold the weight on the top. Look at Kuratas for an example, and it's waist joint.
I am watching this video specificaly because I am making a mech in blender and I don't know how to do the mid section. Realy dissapointed aswell, I was hopeing for some good ideas on that.
