What amazes me in old classical mech designs: while they indeed often look outdated because of style, they require very little updating/tweaking to look majestic and impress even modern viewers. That's why "over-redesigning" is a problem, on the other hand. Careless and excessive redesign takes away the spirit of original.
Well this just bout covers everything that goes into creating a mech from the ground up Unironically the fact that all of these I’ve went through the past two years creating mecha in a silly sand box game, no teacher, no tutor, just pure unadulterated interest that drives me to improve myself. The need of anatomy and mechanical understanding, color theory, proportion, and even importance of articulation for pose-ability. You do not know how refreshing it is to see somebody who could understand my rambles 😂
Omg when I just started getting into Gundam I was looking for videos for the science behind it cause I love the designs! But it was hard to find them :””)
just add bevels on top of bevels on top of bevels on top of bevels until the entire thing looks like a bipedal disfigured hedgehog with no concept of line flow
@@argonbolt Nice! Same here! I also see the "mechanical designer" role as pretty much god tier, but yeah it's really not the same in the west. idk what i would take to change it, but that's where my focus is- mecha design.
i really love this stuff--super fucking geeky in the best way. i would like to say that i feel some of the distinctions btwn "east" and "west" in these videos are pretty unnecessary tho. i think that you're making fabulous content that could def blow up on anitube, and that's the only aspect of these videos i wouldn't want to see more of in our community. i really appreciate the work ur doing, keep it up!!
That stuff will mostly come into play in relation to larger design trends and some later videos i hope to get to in the new year on western mechanical design, where it comes from, how it approaches mecha and some of its artists etc.

The ms-06fz zaku 2 kai b type “fritz helm” is my favorite zaku design.
4:28 XB 70 bomber renamed as XG 70 but is mech and role as mobile fortress
That was pretty interesting. I've just subbed to your channel and will watch the rest of the series.
where can we research more and know more on mechanical design and it's art study?

Average boolean basher:
This is really good. I took a mech design class at a concept art school. That whole class pales in comparison to this 11 min video. Are you an artist?
A 100% artist down to me bones
